Whats the NICEST thing that has happened to you at WDW???

Wow...well, when my DH and I got married at Disney in June 2002, there were sooooo many special things, but one in particular:

The night before the wedding, at the rehearsal dinner at Ohana, we were all dressed in tropical attire with leis and each of us had Mickey ears that were embroidered on the back (Bride & Groom ears, Father of the Bride, etc.)

The big guy who walks around and plays and sings came to our table (he called us the "Rat Pack") and we were all blowing bubbles and he started singing "Tiny Bubbles" to all of us and made everyone in the restaurant sing too. It was so magical.

After we left there, we all headed over to the MK to walk around. We looked quite funny, I'm sure. Well, right off the bat, a CM came over and took pictures of us all together and gave us all several passes to get to the front of the lines on some rides. It was such a magical night anyways, but all the CM's made it even more so.

My mom remarried during my rebellious, selfish teenage phase. So, regrettably, I didn't exactly welcome my step father with open arms. My step dad was a very quiet, shy man, so we didn't have much to talk about.

During our first family trip to WDW, my sd and I decided we wanted to go on Space Mountain, and my mom said she'd wait at the exit. Standing in line was a bit awkward as we struggled to find things to talk about. Then a CM asked if there were any parties of 2. We raised our hands and he loaded us on right away allowing us to skip past a huge part of the line. We were so excited about our good fortune and talked about it the rest of the trip. Finding a common interest somehow seemed to break down a barrier between us and our relationship as father and daughter blossomed.

Sadly, he passed away 3 years ago, but I will treasure the memories Disney helped us create as a family....in the parks and beyond.

My husband proposed to me behind Cinderella's Castle...then later that week we had lunch at the royal table, and they gave us a set of champagne flutes that we used at our wedding!
Also, another time I mailed a bunch of postcards in the lobby at BWI, and I realized (about an hour later) that I forgot the stamps!! One of the CMs at the front desk was able to open the mailbox for me and I was able to stamp my postcards. I was so upset when I realized what I had done because I had made address labels for everyone, a tip I learned on the boards....but it all ended well and everyone got their postcards.

My husband and I honeymooned at the BWV in October of this year. We spent a wonderful day at Epcot and when we came back to our room there was a card and balloons on the table, the card was from Jasmine and Alladdin, they congratulaed us on our marriage.

I'm not sure if the hotel staff did it or if it was just a coincedence that we had breakfast in Norway that morning with the Princesses (Princess Storybook Breakfst and yes we were the only grown-ups) Anyways we had a long conversation with Jasmine about how it was our honeymoon. So I'm a bit curious if it was JAsmine or the hotel staff.

We have had many wonderful things happen to us, but this was great. We went to WDW in October, and it was a stressful trip in that our son had been pretty ill - we had been thinking of cancelling up to the last minute, but the docs thought a change of scenery would do him good. We spent the first 3 days at AKL, then transferred over to our DVC room at Saratoga Springs. The transfer went fine, but even that was too much for our poor son. When we got to Saratoga, our room wasn't ready, and it was too hot for him to go to the park.

We went in the arcade - we were the only people there. He wanted to play arcade games - he looked pretty sick too. THe CM set him up with free play to give him something to do and put a smile on his face. Talk about a kid in a candy store - and when our daughter came in, he set her up with 10 free games.

I know it was a small cost to them - but my son still talks about that. It was the first time we actually saw him happy in 3 days. I will never forget that.

On our first trip two years ago, my granddaughter was chatting up the CM at Tony's Town Square. He asked her what her favorite ride was and when she said, "Space Mountain," he gave her a VIP pass to go to the front of the line.

We did an adults only trip two weeks ago. It was both my husband's and my birthday during the week. We were given pieces of birthday cake at the breakfast following the Sunrise Safari and there was a birthday cake in our room when we returned one evening. Mickey even left BD cards for us. We wore our BD buttons and it was so nice to have CMs greet us during the day. Nothing obnoxious, just a cheery, "Happy Birthday" as they were walking by. You never get too old for that!

My DS (age 3 at the time) tripped and fell stepping off the Garden Grill rest. at Epcot. He just had a little bruise, but he was very tired and just started crying and wouldn't stop. The manager brought him and my DD( his twin sister) a Mickey ice cream bar to "help". It did the trick!

Just remembered another one from that same trip- we were waiting on the spectromagic parade last christmas and we were standing behind a nice older couple that my DS started chatting with (he is very social -age 4). They scooted over and let him and my DD (his twin) sit with them on the curb because they were concerned my kids wouldn't be able to see over them. Kind of makes up for every time someone has been rude to me at a parade!

We have made 10 trips in the last 9 years and have enjoyed so many wonderful encounters with CMs that I could not list them all here, but here are two that come to mind

1. On our first trip in 1996 my oldest DS was only 5. While waiting for a the main street parade to start, we showed up 30 minutes early and picked out a great spot to sit on the curb and eat a snack while we waited. It was on a corner and we thought it would be great. Sitting there we started getting more and more crowded, which was ok until a group of ten people sat right in front of us and then told the CM to go jump in a lake they were not going to move (ok they said it a little differently). The CM was cool and handled it by asking us to move down, ok (but not really). He knew we had been there for a while. During the parade the CM proceed to personally escort our DS to every event that went on during the parade, gave him drums to play, let him shake hands those in the parade, gave him things off the floats, etc it was GREAT.

2. We showed up at the Grand Floridian and our room was not ready, it was 4:30 PM(after flying from Washington State). No big deal we would go eat if they could hold our bags. CM said go have dinner bring me back the bill, try the Rain Forest Cafe, in fact let me call and see if I can get you on the wait list, since they are usually busy, I thought they did not take reservations but ok, I told her I would take care of the bill since we had two local guests with us, she insisted on the bill coming back. When we returned from dinner and walking around she had gone home. She made arrangements with the Desk Manager to take care of dinner and upgraded our room so we would be on the end of the building looking directly at MK. It was great.

These two happened on our first two visits and are big reasons we keep going back.

Been once with just my wife in '88 and three times since with my two children. Many "Magic Moments."

Last year one of my favorites...
After a very long day we were in MGM near closing. My 8 year old daughter and wife both needed to use the restroom so we went to one that is kinda tucked around a corner in somewhat of a small corridor on our way out of the park. Everyone had reached a similar state of grumpiness.

Anyway, my son and me came out of the restrooms first, and sat and waited for the girls. When they came out, while my wife was putting her fanny pack back on, etc., my daughter did a cartwheel in the area in front of the restroom entrances (you can't even see the 'flow' of foot traffic from here). Right in the middle of her cartwheel, a male CM came out of a door in the very corner of this coridor and saw her finish the flip. He clapped and commented on how good she was. He told us how he worked with another girl who was a competetive gymnist in school and she would probably like to "grade" her moves. So he leaves, telling us to wait there and comes back a few minutes later with a female CM. She discusses gymnastics and such with my dd for a few moments and then goes and gets another girl CM. They chat for a while, have my dd do another cartwheel for them and then do several flips, etc. all together. Then the second girl left for a few minutes and came back with a "Magic Moment" certificate and they each gave her a lanard pin before 'dissappearing'

Small but very memorable moment. The rest of our evening was much nicer.

It's those things that kep us going back.

Now this isn't one of the NICEST things that's happened to us at WDW (there are so many!), but it's one of the coolest/most unique. I haven't read of this happening to anyone else on the DIS, so I'd be interested to learn if this truly was unique.

One (of the countless) times we visited AC, we were sitting in the library, trying to look nonchalant, so we wouldn't get picked on!

As the show started, and as the characters walked into the room toward the stage, one of them handed me a letter. Well, I thought I was going to be part of the show, but no one ever mentioned it. I didn't open it until after the show. I MAYBE consume 2-3 adult beverages a year, so I'm definately a lightweight. I had a cocktail during the show, I was tired, and it was late. Trying to decypher the letter in those conditions proved to be rather difficult. Thank GOD no one asked me to read it! Fortunately, the next day, clearer eyes were able to digest the letter. Probably for the best, because in the condition I was in, the "potty" humor would've made me lose it!

I scanned the letter and envelope. With luck, I'll be able to attach it for you to read.

Here's the text of the letter. I still can't figure out how to include a JPG. The letter was made to look as if "typed" on an old typewriter and was in an envelope addressed to Mr. Henshaw (handwritten), with foreign stamps made to look old.

After several lengthy confabulations with my solicitors, I have decided to release this epist1e rather than encircle you with noxious litigation. Suffice it to say that I am not a happy chappy.

I would draw your attention, if at all possible, to the phantasmic incident alleged to have transpired during the recent fortnight1s stay I endured in that tar pit which you insist on advertising as your “marina.” I arrived to find my yacht, MBKEMBE, translated literally from the Swahili to mean “King of the Earth, ruler of the Sea, Lord of all mankind,” was indeed berthed proximate to the type of overly—pretentious yachties which I had presumed were excluded from tour little club. Not so.

To wit: the spurious allegations to which my vessel was subjected regarding the overboard discharge of the entire content, of MKEMBE’s on—board sanitation system. I find absolutely no, foundation to this slander. Quite simply, it is an eggregious lie constructed for the purpose of defaming myself and my honorable craft. Should this absurd hallucination be mentioned again, I shall have no other choice other than buying the mar1na outright and reduce it to bits of charred wood floating on the surface. Idle threat? Think again!

I have a couple to share from our trip in 2003.

We were preparing to find a spot for the Spectromagic parade (Me, my DW and my 4.5yo DD) about 2 hours early due to the fact that 2 nights before we were 4 deep in the crowd and my DD couldn't see anything even on my shoulders.
We were near the East side of the Castle and started to prop on the curb when a CW came by and said "Are you getting ready for the show?" I told him "We sure are." He said "Come with me and I will show you the best spot." He sat us by the curve in the road facing the castle right before the bridge. He then said "They stop here on the bridge to fix lights and such, so this is a good spot for interaction".
The rest was pure magic. All of the characters came up to my daughter and us and paid special attention to her during the pauses at the bridge. One of the many characters that spoke to her was Mary Poppins. Not just any Mary Poppins, but the same one that was at the breakfast in the castle that same morning. She recognized my daughter, hugged her and asked "Did you have a great day princess?" My DD just went crazy and my DW cried while I caught it all on video.....As the last characters went by the CW came back and said "See, I told you this was the spot." I said "You made our day!" and we both smiled.
The second moment was somewhat planned. I have a buddy I have stayed in touch with since high school. I mentioned to him that we were going to WDW. He told me his brother was one of the performers in Beauty and the Beast and that he could try and set us up to meet Belle. A few weeks before we left he told me to go to final showing of Beauty and the Beast and that after it was over to wait around the front of the stage until everyone is gone. I told him thanks and we would do that. His brother suggested the final showing so that after we were finished we could walk right over to Fantasmic and get an early spot in line.....worked out great!
So we go to the show, which was great, and then when it was over we waited for everyone to leave. After about 5 mins of standing in front of the stage the Beast/Prince peeked around the corner from stage left and whispered my DD's name. So we walk his direction through this little gate and round the corner to the right is the entire crew in their spectacular costumes. We spent 15 minutes getting hugs, autographs and pictures and it was truly magic. My DW cried again.
I can't thank my long time buddy enough for that moment. I told him it was a great trip to begin with, but that made it a trip of a lifetime.

During our recent trip, I proposed to my girlfriend the first night of our trip while having dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. We also too the Keys to the Kingdom tour that day. On our last day, we decided to head back to the Magic Kingdom for one final run through our favorite rides. Since we were heading over there, we decided to try to catch Shannon, our tour guide from KTTK and tell her how much of a wonderful time we had the previous week. We were able to find her and she remembered us. We told her about the engagement and all the details of it. SHe then told us to come back to the Guest Relations desk later in the day and tell them that she had left a note for me (she remembered our names, as well, a week later). When we came back later that day, the CM at the counter looked at me like I was crazy, but went into the back anyway. When he came back, he was carrying a package. In it were the bride/groom mouse ears. Shannon had gotten them for us. That was probably the nicest thing I have had done for me and it is a special memory of that trip that we will have as part of our engagement story.

When we went to get our picture taken with Mickey at MGM, he saw my DD(7) Birthday Button and he had everyone else in line sing Happy Birhtday to her while he played conductor. Such a surprise.

Also, a CM at AK gave my DD a pin off his lanyard free since it was her birthday. And a CM in the gift shop at AKL gave her a free pin also. She thought that was great since she had been trading all week.

Shopping at Artists Pointe at Saratoga Springs CM overheard my DS saying "I want this for my birthday..and this, and this, etc"

She asked him when his birthday was and he told her it was that day.

She then took my DS by the hand and brought him over to the phone. She called Goofy on the phone, my son's favorite character, and Goofy sang Happy Birthday to my DS!

The look on his face was amazing and priceless! If I had any inkling to what type of Magic would have happened there I would have had my camera, but I didn't.

Now I wish I had even gotten her name to be able to thank her properly.. not the gushing, proud, disbelieving mom thank you.

favorite all time memory at wdw -----staying in WL and we had just taken boat back from MK. kids were 4 and 5 at the time DH decided he wanted coffee...there was a coffee/dessert bar set up in lobby. the server at the time asked my DD what her name was. She said jylian and the server told her that was her name also..

she gave her the biggest chocolate chip cookie ever and then proceeded to give one to my son also. Every night we came home, Jyl was there and gave both my son and daughter a cookie and a big hug..DD couldn't wait to see her each night..

was the sweetest thing I ever saw.

Needless to say we left a huge tip and told the GM that Jyl made our trip the best ever.

We've had lots of magical moments! First trips moments (April 02) Youngest dd 2nd birthday, band stopped us in the middle of the walkway and sang happy birthday to her with all the passersby clapping and singing too!

Same trip, we were waiting in line to see the princesses in the Judges Tent and the line wasnt moving at all. After about 45 minutes of waiting and watching groups of people walk up on the left side ramp of the line and go right in with CM escorts, we were getting discouraged and with two disappointed small girls we decided to bag it. As we were walking out of toon town, a CM dressed in a white shirt and tie comes out of those big wooden doors on the right and stops us to ask how our day is going. The girls proceed to tell him how disappointed they were in not meeting the princesses. He takes them by the hand and marches us up that ramp that all the VIPs were going up (as me and dh hide our faces since the line still hasnt moved much and everyone we were standing with before is now watching us go up the ramp everyone was complaining about) and takes my girls in to see the princess for a private meeting! It was absolutely amazing.

Same trip again, my youngest (its her birthday) and I were waiting for my oldest and dh to come out of Buzz when a CM working a cart said Happy Birthday to her and allowed her to pick a pin from her lanyard! We still have that pin, I wont let her trade it. Too special.

Second trip (Jan 03) Very slow time. We went to Storytime with Belle and they picked my youngest daughter to be Lumier. And since my oldest wanted to go too they let them both share. Dh came in (he was sitting outside waiting) to videotape and they pick him to be the Beast! My youngest told them it was her daddy's birthday and thats why they picked him. So I got to watch the people I love the most act out the movie I love the most! And DH was so hysterical! The whole audience was LOL the whole time!

Third trip, I cant remember anything super special except all the kindness and helpfullness of all the CMs and the beauty and peacefulness of Disney World. There isnt a better place to be!

We're going again on the 29th of Jan and are looking forward to more special memories!

When I was a youngster (around 9) and at WDW (before anyone gets mad about that term, this was before EPCOT!), we were in line behind an older couple for a ride. They asked us if we had just gotten there and if we were going to be there for a few more days. We said "yes" and than they gave us a big stack of the famed and valued "E" tickets! They said that they did not like the "E" rides and did not use them at all. Needless to say, thsi made a 9 year old boy VERY happy!

Other nice things have happended to us at WDW but this will always be one of the best!
