AA, you reminded me of something that happened to me a while back. When I was in the military full time, I used to administer the enlistment oath frequently. The guy who would bring the new enlistees into my office always introduced them to me, but it was usually like, "This is Kim Jones." And when I would look at the contract the name would be Kimberly Jones. So one day he brings in a kid and introduces him as Bubba LASTNAME. Then I look down on the contract to see what his real name was. It WAS Bubba :earseek: I couldn't believe it! Then it was time to administer the oath. The way it is supposed to work is that I say a line, then the enlistee repeats it back to me. Pretty basic. I always started with "I, state your full name" Bubba repeated the entire phrase back to me just like in the movie Animal House. In 15 years of administering enlistment oaths, he is the first and only person who has done that to me!

Back to your regularly scheduled thread!

Some cool names here!!! Lots of common names, too!!

It's funny about all the different nicknames from the same name.

That's like all us Elizabeths in my family.....I'm Kitty, my Mom is Betty, her Mom was Ibby and her Mom was called Alice.:D

I have no idea about my own family, but on my boyfriends side, there is a whole bunch of Martin's. Him included :p

My brother is the fourth Edward in a row. My oldest DS's middle name is Edward and I have several cousins with the middle name Edward.

Peter and Joseph are big on my Mom's side.

Ann/Anna is the only thing close to a "family name" for girls on either side of my family.

Great-Grandmother was Anna, Grandmother was Angelina, Mom is Ann, I am Ann-Marie, and my neice is Annie.

I don't have any common names in my family, but my friend's eldest brother is called Billy, her husband is called Billy and her eldest son is called Billy. She has another brother called David, her husbands brother is called David and her other son is called David. I guess both families like those two names!!
My parents purposely chose my name as there was no one else in the family with it. I do have the same middle name as my SIL's first name though.
