What's the most common first name(s) in your Family Tree?

Anne... most women in my moms side of the family has an Anne either in the first name or middle.

You and I must be related!!! Anne (spelled that way!) has been a middle name in our family every generation!! My mom has 2 sisters. One has a middle name of Anne. One daughter in each of the sister's families has the middle name Anne (I won between my sister and I). Neither of my DDs have that middle name, but 2 of my cousin's daughters do!

And so on, and so on, and so on!

Probably David.

For my kids, Shannon is the most common first name. I'm a Shannon, they have an aunt Shannon, their dad's cousin is married to a Shannon, and their dad has 2 cousins named Shannon from both sides of his family.

Middle names are the more common names in the family.

John, Robert & Michael

It's so hard to pick a new-to-our-family name when kids are born but, I did ok. ;) DS's middle name is John tho. :p

We have 2 Rory's also. And, 2 Kim's!

Jane for a girl..I am the sixth Jane in a row!

William and Alexander are popular for boys in my family.

Definately Dominick and Anthony.
We're Italian, what do you expect?!!!LOL
The men in our family are either Dominick Anthony, or Anthony Dominick.

My husbands' side would be either Joseph or Robert. My husband and son are named Robert, my son being the "third".

James, Daniel, Lee, Ann & Jason

nothing in particular, I'm one of those who don't believe in naming their kids after other relatives, be they living or not.

DH was named after his father, just the names were reversed, but I broke the mould. I think they every child is entitled to their own identity.

We have about 5 Joes, 4 Annes, 3-4 Jennifers, 6 Christines, 4 Chris',

However...my Grandmother and Grandfather were very religious..so everyone...boys and girls have Mary or Marie for their middle name. With the exception of My mom whose first name is Mary and my Aunt whose anem is Marie. All of their children (the 12 that have kids) put marie in their girls middle names...so Mary/Marie is the most common. WE have abot 35 total with that name!LOL!

But we have a lot of everything...we even have two Bernadette's!!!LOL

On my dad's side, there are many Bill's -

my dad (He is youngest so got the nickname Bitsy)
his uncle that raised him was Bill, but nickname was Fat or Harry
his cousin stayed Bill - too serious for nickname,
his cousin's son - goes by Billy
his great-uncle - I knew hime as Grandpa B
and
because he had only daughters...
my youngest sister is Billie.

On my DH side,
He is a Bob, (Robert Francis)
his dad is a Bob (Robert Francis)
his granddad was Bob. (Robert Elmer)

BTW, my FIL didn't like his middle name so he changed it, from Elmer to Francis.

What about Bob? is a favorite movie here for obvious reasons.

So my family is full of Billy Bobs.

Pam

Gordon was my GF, father, and brother's name. That's the most common male name. Annie and variations of Eleanor and Nellie for the females.

There are four generations of Louis Anthony in my family:

My grandfather, Louis Anthony (91)
My father, Louis Anthony Jr. (56)
My brother, Louis Anthony III (31)
My nephew, Louis Anthony IV (3 months)

My cousin and I are both Annmarie (named after our great-grandmother).

On my mom's side there are a lot of John's and Joseph's.

My husband is also a III, but there will be no IV if we ever have a boy.

Virginia, Roxie, Luvenia are the women's names in my family. I was supposed to be named Luvenia Catherine like my mother's mother and her mother before her but my mother said she just hated the name Luvenia (she is Luvenia too) so I'm the only Katholyn in our family :)

My husband's family likes to name the girls Laura, Adelia, and Cora and there are lots of Enoch's and Reuben's in his family too.

Robert for the males, and Dorothy for the females.

Thomas, Allen, James and Sue, on both sides.

I wasn't named after anyone. My girls were in a roundabout way.
My mom's middle name starts with an A, so does mine, so does my oldest dd.
For my youngest, her middle name is Lynn. That's my sisters middle name, his sisters first name(Lynnette), and my favorite aunt's name(Marilyn) that passed away many years ago.

i have never done a geneology trace on my family so going far back is out of the question. my grandmother was adopted so it would be really hard. as far as currently...alot of us girls have marie or some form of it as a middle name. the boys there really isnt a connection. aunt lissa and i both gave our sons the same middle name, Scott. all of my neices have the same middle name, June, after our grandma. the only other name that follows is Olivia. which i love and would have used had i had a girl. my grandma was june olivia, my aunt- dawn olivia, and my cousin- grace olivia. i wanted someone to carry on the tradition grandma had started but they all went with her first name.

Russell on my father's side goes all the way back ot the Dark Ages...probably! Tradition is that the first male is named after the two grandfathers, and soon everyone was Russell Something.

Any Jack Russell's in the bunch? Sorry I just couldn't help myself, I'm up to my ears in dogs today and Jack Russells popped into my head.;)

Irene. My great grandmother, grandmother, mother, sister and niece all have that for a middle name. The first girl gets it, so I missed out (;) ). Oddly enough my husband's paternal grandmother was also named Irene and his niece's middle name is Irene.
In both families William seems to be it. My dad was named William Henry after his uncle, and his nephew (my cousin) is also named William Henry. That goes back two more people, but won't anymore because cousin's sister didn't have kids. My father in law is named William Kenneth, and DH is William Kenneth jr. He also had an Uncle Bill but after a divorce he didn't any more! We didn't want DS to be William III, so I used the excuses that I wouldn't know which middle name to use and named him Ryan William.
