What's the least fishy

I don't eat fish, but the one time I tried Mackeral sushi I almost vomited because of how fishy it was. So Mackeral would NOT be on that list.

Well the "fishiest" tasting has to be Salmon-yum!
So steer away from that;)

Also Rainbow Trout is strong

I think some of those bland fish they make frozen fish sticks are the less fishiest-cod or perch?

Tilapia and mahi mahi would be my top two. I've also heard cod is up there, but I've never had it. They also take to how you cook them very well.

Of course, a lot of the fishy smell and taste will also depend on how fresh it is...the longer a fish is sitting there, the worse it'll get.

I'd vote for Cod also, I don't think lobster is very fishy tasting. And I agree with the pp. the fresher the fish, the less "fishy" it tastes.

Shark--yummy thick steak like texture. Wonderful on the grill. Just marinate in italian dressing for 30-45 minutes.

I guess most people have never tasted fresh flounder or snook right out of the Gulf here in S.W. Fl. Either one of them can be eaten right after catching and filleting.

Filet and cleaned on the boat ,ready to deep fry at home with a wicked lotta tartah sauce and a cold beeh! that's what I'm talkin' about!!!

Mild white fish include: mahi-mahi, tilapia, swai, cod, haddock, and some others but those are the most common.

Fresh fish is not fishy. The longer it sits the fishier it gets.

Avoid swordfish or shark as those are more metallic, which you asked to avoid, as they are top predator fish and eat the other fish and thus absorb everything from the other fish they eat (from a health standpoint you should always limit the amount of top predators you eat - fish or otherwise - for that very reason).

mahi, tilapia, flounder are all very mild. and I disagree. I think salmon is not fishy. It is sweet. I marinate it in teriyaki sauce and grill it. It is yummy.

I think tilapia is the mildest but agree with the others that cod, haddock and flounder are pretty mild as well.

Tilapia tastes like DIRT to me. Bleech.....I eat fish pretty much plain and grilled and I just cannot like it.

I have tried some seasonings and it really just is not for me and I love seafood.

OH OP, I forgot!!!! This is the tried and true method to rid your fish of "fishy taste". You soak it in milk for a bit before you cook it. I don't do it but my parents do.

I recently got a "recipe" for making cod that is out of this world.

You lightly coat the bottom of a baking dish with olive oil, then sprinkle it with fresh lemon juice. Place seasoned cod filet on the bottom of the dish in a single layer. Cover the tops of the fish with diced fresh plum tomatoes, then sprinkle with lots of grated cheese (parmesan). Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes, when the filets become opaque white.

Delicious, simple and healthy. It even looks pretty. :)

Haven't had it since I was a kid vacationing with my parents. (my dad loved seafood) YUMMY.

Try flounder! :thumbsup2

Tilapia may not be 'fishy', and I make a superb blackened tilapia dish...
However, I do find it to be a little 'dry' tasting. (Nope, it doesn't taste like dirt, but I think I do know what that poster meant!!!)

Now, bass fisherman know JUST what the OP is looking for!!! :thumbsup2
Unfortunately, the biggest Bass Fishing lake (where my inlaws have a lakefront home) is not considered safe, probably for a long time, due to an industrial incident.

Orange Roughy is good.
Just note that it is a saltwater fish that does taste salty...
No salt needed.
