From the article...Not "this spring". Talk about hedging your bets...
At least it wasn't just "coming soon". They actually nailed it down to this year.

Funny isn't it. It took the same amount of time (3 Years) to build all of WDW

Awesome, only 3 years to build it.
I still think May that's the rumors I've heard and it is looking very good in pictures nowI predict that soft openings will begin in the second week of April, because we'll be there the first week. I will be the one wearing a Snow White t-shirt (literally, I will be) and looking hopefully at every CM in Fantasyland.Seriously, I think it will open in early June, which is technically spring.
Hopefully not the union that built EE. Yeti=fail.
In defense of The Yeti...The Yeti is fine. The Yeti works marvelously. There are no problems with The Yeti.
The problem is with that foundation they put The Yeti on. That wussy foundation couldn't handle the awesomeness that is The Yeti and cracked open out of sheer awe after watching The Yeti repeatedly frighten passengers for 17 days back in 2005.
We just need to find a foundation that is manly enough to handle The Yeti's awesomeness. Is there anything out there that is manly enough to handle The Yeti?
Maybe when Chuck Norris dies they can use his bones as part of The Yeti's foundation.
That's because it was added to New Fantasyland after the official announcement. There was a backlash from the public because the expansion was too focused on princesses. They added this ride to appeal to the whole family. But it seems that they had to start from scratch, including the design phase. Hence the three year wait.
Here's hoping it will be worth it.

The Yeti was indeed awesome. I saw him in action in 2007, my first WDW trip, and I'm still blown away.
Please explain the reference to 17 days in 2005? As I said, he scared us two years later, in Dec. 2007.
construction about 3 years including designing and planing probably about 5 yearsWhen did construction start? Seems like it's been 10 years waiting for this thing ...
they have been running the cars for at least a month nowThere were multiple sets of empty cars running on the tracks for quite a while today
