Just wondering if what we pay is in the ballpark. We have digital cable (2 boxes) with on Demand, no pay channels, with digital phone/voice mail and high speed internet. We pay $165.00 per month. It will go up in a few months to the normal rate, which will be closer to $200.00 per month. We get the lower rate right now, because I called to see how I could reduce the bill a few months back and they gave me this new lower rate for a few months. So, everyone try to call to lower your bill...can't hurt to at least ask. I asked what the new rate would be if I canceled the phone all together, and they lowered the monthly bill and I didn't cancel the phone. We are with Comcast.

So, is this a comparable rate or are we getting gouged?

We just switched to At&T U-verse. Our bill is $174 a month which includes unlimited phone, internet, as well as tv. We get all the channels but the HBO's, Showtimes, etc. It is the 300 channel plan. That price also includes the HD and 2 receivers. I love the fact that you can DVR 4 shows at a time and watch them on either TV!:thumbsup2

We just cancelled our comcast about a week ago . We had the triple play (phone, tv, internet) and were paying over $200.

We switched to DirectTV for tv and ATT for phone and internet.
DTV is $55 a month for 150 channels + dvr (will go up to $70 in 2011) the internet is basic for $20 and the phone we got super basic for $10 a month (we mostly use our cell phones with our old Ohio numbers, but we wanted a local number so people here can call us free)

So we basically cut our costs in half. The internet service we took from ATT is their basic level, but it seems more than enough for our needs.

Our DTV is for 1 DVR receiver, and 3 standard receivers .

Comcast is expensive!

I pay $87/month (2 boxes, 1 modem + taxes) for unlimited phone, internet and cable(upgraded "Signature" pkg-no pay channels).

We pay $150 a month, we have 1 receiver w/HD/DVR, high speed internet and the home phone. That's with Comcast. We need to lower it tho, we just got the kids cell phones for xmas so we need to offset that cost....

Another thumbs-up for AT&T U-verse!

Mine is the U200 package (with the HD channels, DVR, 2 receivers, internet, and home phone) -- the whole thing runs around $150 a month.

Uverse is still not available at our house, and the only high speed internet provider we have available is still Comcast.....I remember you suggested we contact Verizon because you were out at Travis and that's what you had there, but no, Verizon doesn't have it at our house either. Only Comcast...so if we want high speed at home we have to have them. We can cancel our cable and phone and the internet would be about $50-60 tho. LOL

We have 2 receivers, (HD, DVR, on demand on one) and high speed internet for $127 with Brighthouse. It does not include phone service.

$180 for Time Warner, 2 HD boxes (1 DVR) 2 premium channels, internet and phone

We pay just over $200 for Internet/Cable/Phone. We have all the stations minus Starz and HBO. We do have Showtime right now because it was a $1 promo but it stinks so I'll be cancelling it soon.

Our Internet is upgraded because DH works out of the house. We also have a second phone line for his office line and unlimited long distance. It's a little high for my comfort but not much less than if we got DTV, which we used to have, and all the phone/internet elsewhere.

Once the showtime promo is over in a month, I'll call and as for a new promo.

Our cable bill is $188 for 2 boxes and all chanels except sports. Plus 2 modums (DS28 works from home and has to have own modum)
Service is with Charter

Holy moly. This thread reminds me why we will be the last house on the planet without cable.:lmao:

We pay $165 for high speed internet through Qwest (the fastest package available), home phone with unlimited long distance, caller ID and 3-way calling, and for satellite Direct TV in high def with DVRs (3 boxes w/ DVR) but no premium channels. It's packaged in a bundle so we pay one bill and save about $15 per month vs paying separately.

I took that $200/month and put it toward my mortgage. Went from a 30 year to a 15. Those 15 years mortgage free will mean a heck of a lot more than TV.

To each his own...we spend an ungodly amount on vacations.

We have a 15 year mortgage too, but we also have paid TV. :goodvibes I will give up something else to make up the difference.

We have Directv. We pay $70 for 3 DVRs and HD and 180 channels
Phone is Vonage ($33/mo with tax), although I am switching to Ooma.....$199 up front and never pay another dime, EVER!. High speed internet is cable modem for $35/month.

So, our bill will be $103/mo. for Directv, phone, and cable modem high speed.

Wait, but the OP was asking about phone and internet too. Do you pay for those? How much do you pay if you do???

Oh, and we do Disney cheaper than most people are comfortable with.....which helps make up the difference for me.

Again, to each his own. :goodvibes

I just downgraded our Comcast because the triple play expired. It went from $107 for one HD box and HBO, phone and internet to $187. I dumped the phone and got internet and HD cable with no HBO for $91 a month for 9 months. I won't pay $200 to Comcast, but our cell phones are like $150 a month, too.

We have no frills basic cable- $63

Unlimited local and long distance and internet from ATT- $78

Ours is around $150.00 per month with AT&T Uverse for 300 channels (No HBO) including phone and internet.

We have Time Warner Cable. HD Digital cable (one box, no DVR), on demand, but no pay channels. road runner internet and unlimited phone for right around $90 a month. :goodvibes
