What's the earliest you'd call someone for a non-emergency call?

A friend called me at 7:00 on a Saturday. She assumed that since I have kids that we would all be up by then. :confused3

I wouldn't call anyone before 9. If it's something important and I need to catch them before they leave for work or school perhaps I could justify calling earlier.

Once I called my neighbor at 6:45. Her husband put their puppy outside when he went to work and it had been barking for almost 45 mins at their back door. I was trying to be polite and assume that she was asleep and didn't know. When I called to inform her the dog was left outside and barking, she replied "yeah, I know. It's really annoying." :headache:

On a weekday I will call someone that I know is up at 7:30 but only for something that is important fo that day. Also I walk with a friend so we will call each other to set up a time at around 7:30ish. i wouldn't call anyone I didn't know until after 9. Weekends I wait until 10(if I'm even up by then:thumbsup2)

It depends. As a general rule I try not to call anyone before 9 AM and after 9 PM. However, if I know for a fact that they are early risers, I'd probably be OK with calling at 8:30--8:45.

I don't answer the phone before 9am - even though I am up, and I certainly don't want to speak to anyone. I wouldn't dream of calling anyone before then either. All people I am in daily contact with knows this. (Exception to this would be a place of business that is open before 9am or an emergency)

But on the other hand, family members think nothing about calling me at Midnight because they know I'm up and probably doing laundry. :)

I think 9am is pretty "standard", I get irritated if my phone rings before then...I'm rather sloth-like in the morning.

I really hate to get calls before 8am because my heart starts to race. I always think it's a death in the family or some other bad news. Same thing applies to calls after 9pm.

I personally will not call before 9am unless I know for sure that the person I am calling is up.

We have family living in the West Coast and they tend to call at 9pm or even 10pm, which really ticks me off! I always think something happened to my elderly mother or dh's father. Don't they know there is a time-difference?

We once got a call at 6am from the Passport office to tell dh there was a problem with his application! That ticked me off too!

If I know the person well (ie know they will be up already etc) 8am, otherwise 9am

That's my guidelines also.

DH gets calls from Contractors, who get on job sites at 6:30 am

So 6:45 happens sometimes-and he puts his cell "ON" at that time. What aggrivates me are those that HAVE to call between 12 noon and 12:30-which is when MOST people are eating lunch-right?

I don't think you can really count on everyone having a set time for lunch. My lunch can be anytime from 11:00- 2:00 depending on the day and schedule.

I never call anyone before 9am, unless I am calling a business that I know will be open before that, then 8AM. I also never call anyone after about 8:30PM.

My husband gets work calls at all hours of the day and night :scared1: Lots of the business he does is with European clients, and they call when they get into the office if there is a problem with the computer system, so its not unusual for our phone to ring at 5 or 6 am from them, but thats just part of his job.

generally, i would not call anyone before 9:00am. for immediate family, if it's their birthday, i will call around 7:30am to sing happy birthday, before my DD gets out of the car at school, because she likes to be included. the whole family knows this and looks forward to our birthday serenades, but, as i said, this is IMMEDIATE family. unless it were an emergency, i wouldn't call anyone before 9:00am, or after 7:00pm.

I'm gonna go with 9. I probably wouldn't call anyone before that unless it was an emergency. :goodvibes

It depends on the person. My sister and I talk almost every morning at 7 during the week. I am up at 5:15 so anytime after that is fine with me.

However, I am a night person so on the weekends I stay up until 1 or 2 and sleep until 10ish.

My family and friends know not to call before 10 on the weekends unless it is an emergency.
