(ok, so I have no idea what you are talking about):p :teeth:

I don't think a po-boy is the same thing. I think a po-boy is a certain type of sub, hoagie, grinder, etc....

It's the same thing.

*in his new orleans accent* a po-boy is in a class of it's own, dahlin'! Let me tell you 'bout tha po-boy... Tha po-boy has, like ona dem subs, meat, but tha differance is the meat is nice n' hot, usually wit' gravy, baby! mmmmmmMMMMMMMMMM!!!!! nothin' gets me like a good shrimp po-boy!

oh ok! I called in an order for a sub at our local sub place and a new guy answered. i asked for a sub and he said, you mean grinder? i said, no i mean sub. he again said, so you mean a grinder? and i again said, no i mean a S U B ( i spelled it out for him :rolleyes: ). So he said, no you mean a G R I N D E R ( he spelled it to me too. Then i said, forget it, let me speak to Billy (the guy i always place my orders with) and he said F I N E and i placed my order for a sub.

I would have done the same thing too, I have never heard of grinders.

I grew up in Rhode Island and we always ALWAYS ALWAYS said "grinder." :teeth:

I still say it here in Connecticut, too. It works!

But when I asked for a "grinder" in New Jersey once, I got laughed out of the deli! :p

It all depends on where you live. They're called hoagies here. Grinders are hoagies that have been heated in the oven. Po Boys are entirely different sandwiches. Subs are in the ocean. Heros are on tv.

how about some others

jimmies=sprinkles
shake=frappe
soda=pop

;)

I grew up in Yonkers and we called them Wedges!! Imagine my supprise when I saw the look on the guys face here in Jersey when I asked for a wedge:eek: :eek: :eek:

Had to add my 2 cents :D

In Illinois anyway, a sub is something you get at Subway and a po-boy is a solid piece of beef on a garlic buttered bun usually with just lettuce and onion and tomato - yummy!!

Suite Disney is the only one who got it right. At least around here in the Philly area, a grinder is always hot. Toasty and cheese all melty. LOVE a meatball grinder!

Suite Disney: Don't you wonder WHY Subway survives around here??

the only difference is location!!!

I've never heard subs being called grinders before.:eek: I was about to pm you to ask what the heck you were talking about Von. It reminded me of several terms you're not familiar with.;)
