What's the chances we get something special for our honeymoon trip?

Hopefully, we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary at POFQ - as long as I get one of the little buttons as a keepsake, I'll be happy....:)

When we were there 2 years ago for our 5th wedding anniversary, we stayed at POFQ. When we checked in, our room wasn't ready and they said we could check back in later. I mentioned it was our 5th wedding anniversary and the CM gave us our buttons and congratulated us and asked who our favorite Disney characters were. When our room was ready, we were given a 2nd floor corner room in building 5 right next to the pool, food, court, lobby, etc overlooking the river. Not sure if our anniversary had anything to do with the better room, but it was appreciated! We wore our buttons to the parks and got a lot of Happy Anniversaries from CM's. We were there during F&W, at the Mexico kiosk, we were given a free bread pudding. At breakfast at the Cape May Cafe the morning of our anniversary, the waitress gave us a chocolate mousse with a candle in it and had Donald help sing Happy Anniversary. That was sooo cute! One day when we got back to our room, we had a picture of Mickey and Minnie dressed in a tuxedo and a gown outside of the Great Movie Ride in DHS and it was signed by them. Then one day at DHS, the CM in the Villain Store handed me the phone and it was the characters singing to us. One day when we had gotten back to our room, Mousekeeping had taken our picture of Mickey and Minnie and placed it on the bed in the middle of a towel animal in the shape of Minnie's head. We really weren't expecting anything either so those were all nice touches.

Enjoy your honeymoon and congratulations! :flower3:

I'm just wondering what the chances are that we get something special from Disney on our honeymoon trip in July. I have seen many reports that when people check in to their rooms, there are some special things there because they are there on their honeymoon.I am certainly NOT EXPECTING anything free from Disney, but I thought it would be pretty cool and exciting to get something. It would really be a big deal to us and make our trip all that much better and memorable. Anyway, if you have a story you would like to share, please do so! Thanks!! :thumbsup2

The special something will arrive 9 months later.

For our Anniversary we had a signed pictures of Mickey and Minnie with balloons in our room. We were also chosen to be family of the day in Epcot, a CM let us through the FP of Kiliminjaro Safari's when he saw our buttons (we didn't have FP's), and we had printed menus to keep at Narcoosee's and they gave us free champagne and dessert. We got free dessert at quite a few places and an abundant amount of Happy Anniversary wishes. :goodvibes

My DH and I got married in November 2006 at the Polynesian. We had a group of 10 (including us). As part of our gift bags to our guests, we had personalized T-shirts made with Mickey groom and Minnie bride, our names and the date of our wedding. After the ceremony, the majority of us donned our shirts and headed to MK for some park fun. We got our Just Married pins, and we had lots of congratulatory messages from CMs and guests. I know that before we got married we got a nicely presented dessert from the Kona Cafe. As far as any other unexpected surprises, I honestly can't recall much from that week.

In November 2008 we went to WDW to celebrate my DH's birthday, which is a week after our anniversary. We stayed at the Grand Floridian; they acknowledged our anniversary by having a bottle of champagne and a card delivered to our room. His birthday was not acknowledged, even though the CM at check-in asked which character is his favorite. He didn't expect anything, but we wondered later why did he ask.

Last November we celebrated our 3rd anniversary in WDW. On the day of our actual anniversary, we wore our wedding T-shirts and the Happy Anniversary pins. I added our anniversary celebration to all of our ADRs. Our first dinner at Chef Mickey's we got free cupcakes. At Whispering Canyon Cafe, we got a free dessert. We spent our anniversary at Epcot. At the American Adventure, the CM called out to those celebrating anniversaries or weddings and allowed us to enter the theater first to pick our preferred seats. After the show, he asked that the newlyweds and the couple who were wearing matching T-shirts and celebrating their anniversary to remain behind. He then dialed a number on the podium phone where we heard a cute message from Mickey and Minnie. When it was the newlyweds' turn for their message, we got a little congratulatory certificate handwritten by the CM. Really very unexpected.

Thanks all for the stories and experiences! It is fun to read everyone's stories! Like I said, we are not expecting anything at all, but I don't think anyone will disagree that any extra little surprises are a plus to the experience!

Congratulations on your upcoming "I do's"!!

I know you keep stressing that you are NOT expecting anything. Well...hold on to your hat because I think you SHOULD! My DH and I honeymooned at WDW in June/July of 2008 for that very reason. This is why we all choose Disney! They DO make a big deal and they DO go out of their way to make your experience one you will never forget. After you get married (and go to Disney of course) you will be on cloud nine and wanting to shout to the world how happy you are. It makes you feel so elated to hear "Congratulations!" shouted in every park from both CM's and fellow vacationers. We had people talk to us in lines and heard so many jokes and "tips" for newlyweds. It was wonderful and we felt so special. Now you won't get that laying on a beach!!

What everyone says about the buttons/ears is absolutely correct. Another key ingredient - be nice!! If you kindly ask for something (even directions) people want to return the kindness especially when they see you are a newlywed. Case in point - we struck up conversation with a man named Hugo at the Christmas store in MK and 45 mins later he pulled an ornament of Mickey and Minnie kissing under mistletoe and wrapped it up as our first official ornament as a married couple. A little while later I kindly asked a young man who sold fudge if there was any way I could have it sent to our room (it was almost park closing) and he felt so bad that he couldn't - he gave us our fudge for free and signed a special moments card that said it was our wedding gift from "the mouse". Very sweet.

All throughout our trip we received free desserts (most sit downs) and cookies at snack service counters. If my husband ordered a soda they often gave me one for free. Nothing was of major monetary value - but so kind and generous to be offered. The best part was at Fantasmic. We were asked if we would enjoy VIP seating.....of course we would!! We were seated in a roped off section that we had almost to ourselves! Unexpected and wonderfully appreciated.

Enjoy your wedding and enjoy your honeymoon. Expect to be treated special - because that is what CM's are trained to do. If all you get are lots of "congrats" - it sure as heck will beat the beach anyday!!;)

We went to WDW on our Honeymoon in March 2008 and got a lot of attention due to the infamous buttons!

We got to sit right up on the glass at the Coral Reef as well as getting personalized menus and a free dessert with congratulatory decoration on it.

We got to sit right against the glass at Ohana and watch the fireworks over at the MK (I didn't see any other two person tables with that kind of view in the whole place).

We got a congratulatory free dessert at Boma (Zebra domes with chocolate writing on the plate/board it was served on).

We got free dessert/goodies multiple times while at the parks. My DW got a rice krispie treat thing at DHS while looking at the candy in the villain store and we got chocolate cake at the counter service restaurant near Space Mountain.

We got the confette heart on our table at Liberty Tree Tavern during our meal there.

We also got free dole whip floats!

But BEST OF ALL, we were chosen (it was the year of a million dreams) to ride up on the Astro Orbiter elevator and watch the Wishes fireworks from above Tomorrowland all because of our buttons. The Dream squad said they were looking for a couple that was just married - and we lucked out! That was pretty cool to be up there above everyone with an unobstructed view of the castle/fireworks! :thumbsup2

I'm sure there were a few other perks here and there, but like everyone else has mentioned, make sure you wear the buttons! Have a great Honeymoon!

We went for our honeymoon in 2008 and wore our buttons the whole week. Along with a "Congratulations" from almost every cast member we passed (and many guests as well) we were sprinkled with pixie dust in many ways:

Some Cast Members would stop and talk to us about our marriage and honeymoon.

We were given a champagne toast at The Hollywood Brown Derby

The California Grill decorated our table with Mickey confetti, and had little "Congratulations!" chocolate pieces on our desserts

Free cream puffs for dessert almost every time we ate at the Kona Cafe (even at breakfast!!)

In our room was a card from Mickey and Minnie, congratulating us

We didn't expect anything, and we were blessed with all the attention we received. It really added to an already magical trip.

I'm not big into advertising. We wore Disney trading pins on our honeymoon, with Mickey and Minnie in their wedding finest. They were small, and not a lot of people noticed them. No big button, no ears, no matching shirts... We still received a signed congratulations in our room from several of the characters, toasting glasses at CRT, chocolate covered strawberries in DTD, and still got a lot of congratulations from CM's. :goodvibes Of course, we also didn't get our requested king bed, and spent our honeymoon in a double overlooking a parking lot. :rotfl:

If your goal is to get as much attention/stuff as possible then you want your event to be as obvious as possible. But I think it's great that you're going in with no expectations, then there's no hurt feelings. No matter what, your trip will be fantastic! :thumbsup2

My story is much like everyone elses. We chose Disney because that is where I proposed to her the year before. We didn't have any expectations going in, infact the "congrats" from the CM's and guests caugh us off guard at first. If your honeymoon is like ours be prepared to be cupcaked out. We got atleast 1 cupcake a meal in addition to our dessert (DxDP). We also got a nice pair of place mats at 1900 Park Fare. I think our buttons did help us getting in at resturaunts since I had no ADR's(the trip was a suprise planned by my dad and mom before she passed away, we had planned on waiting for this summer to goso we could save money).

After all that rambling I hope you have a wonderful honeymoon, you will make tons of meories.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. We certainly will be wearing the buttons and the wedding hats, and that's just because we want them to be in our photopass pictures and we will be taking so many of them, that we are better off just keeping them on...and we're wearing them because we have that Disney spirit! We only have one ADR (Cinderella's Royal Table on the day of arrival...which happens to be her birthday as well). We are going to do plenty of fun stuff though, such as parasailing, SeaRaycers, horseback riding, and of course, the theme parks. I plan on seeing Fantasmic since I have never seen it before (it is hard for me to sit on those bleachers for a long time before the show since I have some back issues), but I told myself that I am forcing myself to sit and wait for it about 1.5-2 hours before (since it is the busy season I might have to go sooner than that)! We are going to try to make this a bit of a fun, relaxing vacation, instead of the fun, but fast paced type vacation we usually have at WDW. Again, thanks for the stories and experiences and well wishes/ congrats! They are great to read and nice to feel excitement from real world strangers, but DISfamily!

P.S. Sorry, Moderator Brian, for posting this thread in the wrong place!

I think the "What will you celebrate" promotion really impacted on wedding "Pixie Dust", I got a few little things but nothing big.

We got another set of Just Married buttons when I checked in, a card signed by all the characters of the Cape May Cafe character breakfast there, free cupcakes at 'Ohana, free chocolate cake at Cali. Grill, and free decorated breakfast pastries at Kona Cafe. I think that was it. ;) :)

O, and my parents and some of my fam' got a menu from the Yachtsman that said congrats and our names and D.H.&I weren't even there! (My mom saved the menu for me tho'. :))
