Thanks y'all  I'm leaving for WDW on Saturday. It's not enough that I"m spending a fortune on that trip. Nooooo, now when I get back,I'll spend another fortune ordering all the goodies I saw at Gina's store. Just picture this:
Husband sues wife for divorce over her Disney obsession and shopping spree at Gina's Treasure Chest. Unfortunately, due to this obsession and spree, the husband no longer has any money in his treasure chest!

i'm not sure exactly what things you guys have purchased from Gina, but all of the things I've gotten (about 8 or so) have not been paper piecings (or at least what I consider to be them). They are images created on the computer, printed and then matted. I think she has a few things that might have an extra piece on top stuck on with pop-dots to make it 3-d, but all the ones I have are totally flat, one main image that was printed and then it's matted.
HTH!
Really? That's not what I want at all. I thought that these were paper piecings and they were in the paper piecing section. I guess I'll just have to see when I get them.

Her stuff is well done, I'm just glad it doesn't fit into my scrappin' style. I just couldn't afford it, LOL. I'm too busy buying pretty Disney paper.

Sounds like she's made a thousand bucks off of you guys in the last few days, LOL.

Ditto! LOL You guys are dangerous...

I believe you are correct. That's why it's not worth the money for me, 'cause I'm just starting to make that sort of stuff myself now. There are so many Disney clip art sites out there, that I haven't even begun to see them all. Her stuff is very pretty, though!

for me, I'm much happier paying her for it than trying to figure it out on my own. :thumbsup2

if you want to tell me (or PM) me one or two of the things that you got, I might be able to tell you....I do have a selection, LOL!

I just got several pieces from her last week. Nice work but you are right it is not PP like I've been taught to make. I would order from her again because it is easier to pay her than do it yourself if you don't have the time to do it which is the way my life has been for the last few month.

I was not entirely sure what paper piecing was when I bought four pieces from her, but when I received them it didn't seem like what I thought paper piecing was. That is not to say that I won't buy from her again because, honestly, I will. I love my four pieces I got. I bought the four parks with Christmas 2006 on each of them with some characters on each as well. I saw the first and said I won't buy because I would want all four and then I continued to look and surprise, surprise, there was the 2nd, then the 3rd, and finally the fourth park so I, of course, bid on them all and won all four. They are all really cool. What I also like is they are a good size. I know a woman who paid something like $15.00 for a paper piecing of Splash Mountain, I believe, and when she got it it was sort of tiny. I was thinking of buying more pieces but I thought how many pieces like this are really needed in one book. I try to use different things throughout and if I use this type of piece more than the 4 times I am already using I think it would look repetitive. When I received them I showed my DH and he said well can;t you do that. I simply said no. I fully agree it is easier to pay her then try to do it myself and waste time, money and energy on something that will frustrate me and ended looking awful and going in the garbage.

30 DAYS TIL WE LEAVE FOR DISNEY WORLD!!! :cheer2: :cool1: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :yay: :yay: ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

Gina's Treasure Chest is the name of her eBay store

I think my post from yesterday was completely taken the wrong way and the mods deleted it. I just hate to see people spend gobs of money on something they could do very easily themselves. Personally I would rather have my scrapbooks filled with things I make but hey that's just me. The main thing I was trying to get across was to come over and visit the creative disigns boards here on the dis boards. We have lots of talented people there who can make these personalized disney graphics for you, for your scrapbooks, t-shirts etc.

Also if you don't have photoshop there is a free program out there called Gimp which you can download for free and you can make your own stuff.

I am a one of the members over on the other boards and didn't want to self-promote my work so that is why I choose to post under a different name. I do not sell any of my stuff on ebay and never would. I just want you to look at everyone's work and not just my own. There is a lot of great stuff there from a lot of talented people.

I do stand by my morals and believe that it is wrong to sell disney copyrighted images on ebay or anywhere else and there are a few people who are taking that risk. I myself would never do that, besides can you imagine what it would be like if you got a call from the big D's legal department. If you look at the terms at disneyclips website for example which a lot of use, it specifically states for non-proft purposes. I would hate to see that site shut down because of people abusing the system. I spend countless hours making designs for others here on the boards for t-shirts, disney cruise line door magnets, scrapbooking stuff etc. and I would never dream of selling it to people. So anyway come over and visit us we can help you make your own stuff or we can make stuff for you and also help you with photoshop and gimp or whatever software you may have. I myself enjoy doing it and am glad to help others with their projects.

Also we have a great wealth of sources for disney clipart, design tips etc on the sticky's over on the creative disigns board so come on over and let us help you with your projects! We are glad to help and best of all we do it for free!!!

I have bought from Gina and Granniemouse and House of Mouse on ebay and I would have to agree with the above poster, The people on the disboards are way more talented and make much cuter stuff and I don't have to pay for it, THEY Totally ROCK!!!

All the paper piecings on ebay lately have become computer generated - remember back when sellers would specifically state no computer generated items in their work and paper piecing meant taking cardstock of different colors and putting them back together to make a character. There are very few people left on ebay who do true paper piecings.

Frankly the computer generated pieces I have bought on ebay I really haven't been impressed by as it's fuzzy and not near the quality of disney licensed products you buy at your LSS. I can buy brazzill and linen paper myself and just print on max dpi and have the exact same thing they are selling.

If you are looking to make your own stuff check out these wonderful threads, I think these are the ones the above poster may be referring to

I think some of you guys are missing the point...people are happy with their purchases. They are happy someone else did the work, happy they didn't have to find the design, cut or do anything else but find the wonderful spot they would like the Paper piecing to go.
Why are people so upset about someone being happy about being able to buy exactly what they need or want?
I would think if there was a copy right problem Ebay would pull the account.
I was alway under the impress you do have some artistic rights to certain things. If I purchase a pattern that is a Disney wall painting and I paint it on something sellable that is ok. I bought and paid for the pattern. if it states on the package not for resale or something similar then yes you have a problem.
I don't know how it would work with clip art. Especially if she is taking it and doing her own modifications.
What about people who come into your home and stencil your DD or DS room into the Jungle book? Taken directly from a coloring book is that the same thing? they shouldn't charge for their time?
Just a shame people get all upset over something that really isn't a big deal. As for people filling their scrap books with stuff not made by them...that is just silly...They sell page kits, magazines give step by step directions on how to do a page and people buy this stuff all the time. Just like a home made pie taste great...but the ease of a pre made pie...suites me just fine!

!

yep! :thumbsup2 And as for it not being a 'real' paper piecing...I'm not a big fan of those anyways! :teeth:

Spinning, you said exactly what I was thinking. I'm happy with what I got (real paper piecing btw.) I'm happy that I didn't have to spend hours making something or printing and cutting something out. I don't have time for that. Obviously, I don't have a problem with having elements not made by me in my scrapbook, not with all those swaps I'm in. :teeth:

I guess maybe I sent the wrong message with the frowny/angry face. I just thought I was being funny. :confused3

I have looked at Gina's store and the items are really cute. She clearly states that they are printed on such and such and mounted on such and such. It is up to the individual to decide if they want to spend their own money to buy the item.

I understand that you are saying there are people on the DISBoards who can design these items. Sometimes I just prefer the instant gratification of choosing exactly what I want instead of having to request a design and wait for someone to create something I potentially won't be happy with when all is said and done. Don't get me wrong. The shirt designs on the Creative Shirt board are cute and I could never do them myself. I just don't think it's fair to tell someone they aren't spending their own money the way you think they should.
