I hadn't heard of the books when the movie came out. Had not desire to see the movie either. Saw all the trailers...not interested. Saw all the gossip...didn't listen.

Anyway, I had a hysterectomy a couple weeks ago and signed up for netflix to pass the time. I put twilight in there because I wanted to see what the big deal was. I mean it's just a movie. Well...I really didn't want to watch it so it sat on my TV stand for like 2 weeks. I was just going to send it back. I dreaded watching the movie. Anyway...really bored the other day and nothing new had come in so I MADE myself watch this horrible horrible movie everyone keeps talking about.

OMG!!!!! I'M IN LOVE:love::cloud9:

WHAT WAS I WAITING FOR!!!! WHAT HAVE I MISSED!!!

I've watched it 3x now, bought Eclipse but I can't start reading it until after I see New Moon (slow reader). I want to know everything. I never paid attention and now.....Friday will not get here soon enough. I'm making my DH and DS9 go with me. I CAN'T WAIT

Welcome to the dark side :rotfl:

Really - the books are so much better than the movies. I hate to admit how much I love the books when people have only seen the movie and didn't care for it.

You must read Twilight! Even if you aren't a reader, believe me, it is so worth it. It is a fast read too.

I was kicking and screaming against it. Then a friend put the book in my mailbox and said just read it.
I did.
Oh Edward.
Bella.

I'm hooked and have tickets for the movie Friday night.

I had seen them on the shelves but had no interest in them. I saw the preview for the movie and thought it was some kind of warped Tuck Everlasting knock off (I love the book Tuck Everlasting.) I couldn't believe somebody would mess with such a beautiful story and was pissed!

I finally got around to reading it at the urging of some people here. I read them all in one weekend. They are strangely addicting. The writing isn't necessary Pulitzer material, but they are good reads and it's nice to be able to lose yourself in a fantasy world.

READ THE BOOKS!

Oh yes Welcome Welcome.....

I can't ask you yet if you are Team Edward or Team Jacob. You must must must read Twilight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with the PP's the books are better than the movies well at least for Twilight it is.

New Moon was my favorite book though and I am Team Jacob!

They really are great books and a fun read. Take your time and enjoy them!

I agree. Read Twilight. It's sooo good. I wasn't so crazy about the next books. They were just okay, IMO. But I loved Twilight. I loved the movie too. Now, I'm even watching Vampire Diaries, which I can hardly believe! ROTFL.

You HAVE to read the books.....they are a million times better. I think I only love the movie because I love the book.

I've read them each 3 times....and when I have a minute I think I'll read them again...I miss Edward!

I read Twilight before they were even thinking about making a movie. I borrowed it from my sister who said it was a good book. I didn't like it at all. I thought it was pretty dry reading and couldn't understand what the appeal behind Edward was.

My main reason for posting is because I want to know what made it appealing to you guys. Thanks!

Agreeing that the books go into soooo much more detail than the movie.... even if you saw the movie, you still MUST read the book :) :) :)

i like the books. i've only read them once each though. and i thought the last one was a little bit raunch.
the movie was ok. i dont think i'd watch it again by choice. it was a little bland. the book is much better.

i will be seeing new moon, but i honestly dont think that any of it is worthy of all the hype it gets.

Eh, I haven't figured out what the hysteria is either, but I don't plan on reading the books or seeing the movie unless it just happens to be on a movie channel and nothing else is on. I don't know but that whole vampire fantasy just doesn't do anything for me. :confused3

I have a friend that is non-existent when True Blood is on and I just don't get it. Tried to watch a few episodes and felt like I was watching porn.

edit: and yes I know twilight is teen oriented without the provocativeness.

The only other vampire books I have read are Cirque Du Freak. Honestly, the genre never has appealed to me, and even now I have zero desire to read any of the other books you see. I don't know why Twilight is different for me.

I wanted to read the book because all the girls at school were crazy over it. I was tired of them telling me "teacher you have to read them!", so I did. The book was ok, it did not get me hooked like the Harry Potter series did. I will admit that my favorite part in the book was when they were playing baseball and the others showed up. I want to see the movie just to see how that part is portrayed.

Because Twilight IS NOT a vampire book? It's a teen romance (paranormal romance to be specific).

ok, i had no desire to watch twilight either. i even teased my niece who was REALLY hooked. i mean REALLY REALLY hooked!!! she was obsessed. so she brought the dvd over for me and my 2 dds to watch with her. we were all on the couch, but i was reading instead of being COMPLETELY absorbed in the movie. she was sooo annoyed with me......
well, i ended up watching it and fell in love!!!!! when it was over i just looked at her and said ok, i get it. i SOOOO get it!!!!! she was absolutely thrilled that me and my 2 dds, who weren't dying to see the movie either, had been cullenized!!!!
i never did read the books. my niece has read them all several times. my dd14 read them also.
like i said.......we've been cullenized!!!!
can't wait to see new moon this friday!

Wow, I've GOT to read these books and find out about this Edward Cullen. I've been told one of my characters is just as alluring as he is. Hmmm, I can't wait to find out! :cloud9:

I've read all the books, and seen Twilight. I have to admit, I'm completely and totally Team Jacob! Course, I have a thing for tall, ripped guys who aren't pretty boys. There's just something about Robert Pattinson that bugs me, while Taylor Lautner is just gorgeous. I think it's attitude, yknow?

I love the Twilight series!! I can hear the soundtrack to Twilight (the movie) in my head now. I saw the previews for #2 and.... swoon! Looks gooood.

:thumbsup2
