What's the best rock concert you've ever been to ? (Inspired by SPAM)

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band in 1980, the first time he headlined at Madison Square Garden. I've been to many, many concerts but I've never seen a performance like that night. Amazingly, the next day they annouced on the radio that Seger had performed with the flu and and fever of 102 degrees. He said he was so excited about headlining The Garden there was no way he'd postpone it. I can't imagine what he would have been like completely healthy!

I have 2 favorites -
1 is the 2004 4th of July GooGoo Dolls concert. We stood in a REALLY bad thunderstorm to see the concert (I was up to my ankles in water it was raining that hard). It was the one they just released onto DVD, which does not do the storm ANY justice
2 has to be Barenaked Ladies 1999/2000 New Years concert. That was a great way to ring in the new millenium.

Operation Mindcrime.

Queensryche. Probably 1991.

OMG LOVED that show!!!!! They are totally awesome in concert. They were here in Atlanta in October, but I had a class and couldn't go.

Van Halen was good in 1988 when I saw them at Rupp Arena.

Also the Monsters of Rock tour in the Orange Bowl in what, 85 or 86? GnR, Metallica, Scorpions, Van Halen and I think Anthrax?

Boy, am I dating myself with these... LOL

I would have to say Bon Jovi. Everytime I have gone to one of their shows they gave a great performance.

It's a toss up between Elton John, Paul Simon and Queen. :)

If that is one group that I would have loved to have seen, it is Queen. They were an amazing band.

Springsteen.. even the worst Spingsteen concert is better than anyone else's best concert

Oh, and McCartney in 2003. But Springsteen was still better

The best concert I've ever been to was a Dave Matthews BAnd concert on June 11, 2001 at Giants Stadium. The best rock concert I've been to was the Red Hot Chili Peppers on May 17, 2003, the night before my college graduation. The concert was full of energy from start to finish. The Chili Peppers played a great show.

The Rollling Stones 1981! People started gathering outside the arena that morning and it was an all day and all night party! I've never seen such excess in all my life! What a blast! :rockband: :drinking1 :dancer: :cool2: :hyper: :jumping1:

Hey Kitty - those were my three too! :cool1:

Vettechick99 and HomeSweetDisney - I'm going to show my age.......I've never heard of any of those bands :confused3 :rotfl:

My absolute fave was Def Leppard & Meatloaf, with lesser acts like Ugly Kid Joe and one other I've forgotten now. It was at Parlee Beach, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada in 1993, it was summer and the concert was all afternoon and evening on an open field next to the beach. It was soooo good. I adore Def Leppard, and Meatloaf has some good classics, so i knew most of the music. When "Bat out of Hell" was played everyone tossed napkins into the air and it almost looked like the air was full of flying creatures - cool! After dark there were the usual love songs lit up with cigarette lighters. There are other reasons that concert was so special to me ... but we won't go there. Suffice it to say it involved a special guy. ;)

I saw the Eagles in 95 and it was great. I'd also have to add Def Leppard, seen them twice. Also Garth Brooks even though he's not rock and Tim McGraw. I could go on and on.

Not a big "rocker" personally :rotfl2: BUT I do have a thing for 80s music. I haven't decided whose show was better--Bon Jovi or Def Leppard. Both were just great concerts with great music.

I have to add that Def Leppard's Hysteria tour when they played "in the round" was great, too.

HEART! It was awesome... this is before Anne got Pooh sized.

I would have to say Aerosmith was the best concert I have been to (their "Big Ones" tour)...I had a blast with my best friend!

...although Motley Crue would be a close second, they put on an excellent drum show!! :)

Prince for the Lovesexy tour. The music was great and Sheila E. wore an almost see thru teddy.... and I was in row 4! :goodvibes

The Who in 1983.

Saw them 2x in 83, in Philly at JFK and Meadowlands. They were great both times.
