What's the best rock concert you've ever been to ? (Inspired by SPAM)

Queen - many times in the late 70's and early 80's

Paul Simon - Graceland Tour

Recently - Elton John last year.

Saw Bon Jovi a couple years ago and they are as hot as ever. Talk about someone who was born to perform!

My vote for the "cleanest" concert is Jessica Simpson. I saw a lot of families there with little girls and I have to say there was no need to cover their eyes or ears at any point!

Since Bon Jovi is my favorite band, I'm going to say all their shows have ROCKED.

Also, Motley Crue - never saw a bad show. Metallica, another band that is just awesome live. Guns n Roses, must have caught them on a good night b/c I have heard some bad things about their shows, but I thought they were great. So many of those 80's bands that I could list as great rock concerts - Queensryche, Slaughter, Extreme, etc.

Meatloaf - another great concert, he was really amazing, so much energy.

Other great concerts that I don't consider "rock", but I loved were Billy Joel, Elton John and Duran Duran.

I also saw a couple of country acts that really surprised me. I guess b/c I am not really into country music I didn't think I would enjoy them, but I did. They were Travis Tritt, Brooks & Dunn and Toby Keith.

ETA (because I didn't read the responses until after I posted) - so happy to see so many Bon Jovi fans :cool1:

Wow I may really show my age on this one. One of the best probably because it was my first was Elton John with Kiki Dee as the opening act in September of 1974 at Hofienz Pavillion in Houston. Lately it would probably be Green Day in Houston about 2 years ago when they were touring with Jimmie Eat World and Blink 182. Blink 182 was probably the worst but fortunatly Green Day saved the night.

Springsteen on his Born in the USA tour -- although it's a little fuzzy to me.

I saw Bon Jovi at Great Adventure in 1985 and loved them. Saw them in Philly 2 summers ago and wasn't as impressed, although it was about 600 degrees that day and I didn't feel good.

I wanted to see Garth Brooks at Central Park, but my mom wouldn't babysit. Bad mommy!

Moms are always spoiling our fun. First they won't let us go to concerts, then they won't watch our kids so we can go.

The Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1965. What a happening!

The Everly Brothers at South Shore Music Circus in Massachusetts. 2001. We were right next to the stage!

Brenda Lee at City Hall Plaza in Boston. 1990's It was July and she had 50,000 people singing Rockin Around the Christmas Tree. :teeth:

Eric Burden and the Animals. The Surf, Hull, MA. 1967. Our whole group was there and our theme song was We gotta get out of this place. When the Animals sang that, we went nuts!

Paul Revere and the Raiders. Flower and Garden Show, EPCOT. Numerous times. Classic music from a truly great band. ::yes::

Ray Charles. South Shore Music Circus. 1980's. Amazing.

Alan Jackson Nassau Col. Last Year

Absolutely agree with that one.
Garth Brooks concert at the Meadowlands was great too.

I raelly liked The Lilith Festival in Hershey. Emmy Lous Harris was absolutely amazing, and so was Jewel and Sarah Mchlachlan! :cool1:

Linkin Park this past August at the HiFi Buys ampitheatre in ATL. This was my second concert of theirs and they just rock all the way around.

Korn ain't so bad either (seen 3 times).

Back in 2000, I saw Limp Bizkit in Tampa and they really put on an amazing show.

Any rap/hip hop is terrible live - Snoop, Nelly, Outkast, Ludacris (don't know why I keep going to them).

Yellowcard, Something Corporate, Jane's Addiction, Blink 182...those are some of my favorites. They put on really high energy shows. But I've seen so many, those are just the ones I can think of.

Bon Jovi
Bounce
Toronto, July 2003

I've seen a few good Crue shows. Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Areosmith, Elton John, Billy Joel, Clapton, Prince, Springsteen all great. The Eagles always suprise me and James Taylor is amazing.

Rod Stewart's last tour was suprisingly good. I've seen him several times (my mom is a HUGE fan) and this show was definately better.

You can laugh all you want but Hootie and the Blowfish put on a pretty fun show. They aren't amazing but they are pretty silly and fun.

Someome mentioned the Barenaked Ladies, they always put on a fun show.

George Clinton nad the P-funk All Stars were good too. From what I remember. :)

I did my share of concert going during the late 60's and early to mid 70's. I only went to see the groups I knew I would enjoy and I can say I don't remember ever being disappointed by one. Probably my most surprising concert memory was the performance by Booker T and the MG's when they opened for Creedence Clearwater Revival in Philly (1970 or so). They were great! (And so was CCR!) Another very pleasant surprise was a Willie Nelson concert I attended some years ago in Allentown, PA. I wasn't much of a fan until I saw him and his band live.
Other concerts I really enjoyed:
Grand Funk RR; Vanilla Fudge; Hoyt Axton, The Turtles and 3 Dog Night; Steppenwolf; ELP; Santana; Jethro Tull. These were mostly before the groups hit it really BIG.
The first "rock" band I ever saw was Gary Lewis and the Playboys on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City. They would come out, play a couple tunes and leave while another act performed. Then, they would repeat the sequence. They don't do that anymore! The Tull concert was considered a "dance concert" at the Spectrum in Philly. It was their first US tour and Ian Anderson told us a story of how the original tapes for Aqualung had been stolen so they ended changing the original album name and cover. "Bootleg" albums were big in those days.
I would have liked to have seen Zeppelin and Cream but never had the opportunity. And, I would really like to see Leo Kottke some day.
As I've gotten older my tastes in music have changed but I still enjoy listening to my old favorites.

Every Def Leppard concert that I've been to. When Guns 'N Roses opened for Motley Crue in 1987. Iron Maiden always had cool stage shows. Ozzy in 1986. :rockband:

James Taylor was great when we were in a mellow mood. We had a blast one time at a Three Dog Night concert. But my all time favorite was a Jimmy Buffet concert in New Orleans at the World's Fair in 1984.

Those were the days. . .

I like Reba McIntire's concert and will admit to liking the Rolling Stones concert. I was employed by the O'Connell center in Gainesville as were many other students and worked both of these concerts and got to see them for Free. The Stones were actually held on Florida Field.

Garth does have a pretty neat concert too.

I'm judging these by WOW impact and all three WOWed me.
