My husband and I have received a free room upgrade at the WL (standard to pool view) and a free ($98) dinner at Le Cellier because of a broken door lock at the Poly. That was way cool.

Hmmm...we got a bottle of champagne sent to our room after moving from the GF to the BW due to horribly bad service at the GF. The champagne was from the BW, not the GF!

The best was getting upgraded to a 2BR suite at the AKL :)

1992 - Honeymoon at Dixie Landings- checked in very late evening and next morning we went to lobby to get park tickets, while in line a man came up to my husband and said "I'm Don from Utah and we are leaving today, would you like our coupons." My husband gladly accepted them, said thanks, turns out his family won a trip and had all these extras. By the time my husband came to tell me, the man had disappeared. It was really magical

We ended up with coupons for boat rental, bike rental, lunch at GF, dinner in Paris(upstairs) at Epcot, dinner at Alfredos, and a few more things we didn't use, but we passed along. We couldn't believe it and we still get goosebumps thinking of that kind man from Utah!

1993 - 1st Anniversary, staying at YC, upgraded to waterview and a "gift basket" - chocolates, champange, etc, was in the room that evening.

1998 - YC - my husband mentioned that it was my birthday at check-in and that evening a small basket of shell shapes chocolates was delivered to the room.

We have been treated very well during our trips to Disney.
1. Upgraded to savannah view from standard at AKL.
2. Upgraded to waterview from standard at CBR. We were steps from the beach, loved that room!
3. 6 dinners taken off the bill at California Grill by the manager because they took forever to come. We never even complained, the CM's informed the manager of what was happening. The only thing the manager requested was that we take care of our servers regarding the tip because it was not their fault. Which of course we already knew that! :)

In December 2002 we were upgraded to the Contemporary Tower. We had an AP rate of $149.

When we got to our assigned garden wing room I noticed a gap between the door and the door frame. It surprised me to see that but I didn't think much more of it. Then when we were in the room the bed was a little messy. Like as if someone had laid in it. Again I kind of shurgged it off. We then headed out our room for the evening and I returned later by myself. My son and husband went to check out the game room. I again saw the gap between the door and door frame and started thinking. Headed to the shower and the entire time that gap was on my mind. So I got dressed took my room key and a credit card and stepped out the room and closed the door behind me. I let swing closed and the lock didn't seem to engage so I pulled it closed. I looked closely at where the frame and the door met by the lock and there didn't seem to be much if any gap there. I looked at a few other doors to compare the lock area. Then I wondered if the gap (basically at the top and bottom of the door widest area being about 1/2 inch) was big enough at the locking area to open the door with a credit card. So I tired and sure enough I could open the door. I tried several times and could open the door with ease. So I called the front desk and they sent someone up. They then told us they would have to move us. (at 11 at night ) We had a king room and none were available so they upgraded us to the Tower. It was very nice to get the chance to stay in the tower.

You know I have heard stories of some being treated badly by Disney when problems came up. In my stays I have had a few times problems have happened. I'm happy to say Disney has always taken care of me

Take Care

In October 01': After spending a great but soggy day in Epcot, we returned to out tent at FW to find that it had leaked and our air mattress and the rest of our things were floating around the tent. Everything was soaked.
My 2 small children were wet, tired and hungry. I called the FW front desk in tears, I explained to them what had happened.
The FW grounds manager showed up with a crew of 5 men. They took our campsite down, loaded everthing into their vehicles and asked us to follow them. We pulled up in front of a Wilderness Cabin. They gave us a cabin for the rest of our trip, for no extra charge!
We had 3 more glorious nights in that cabin!
Also, FW dried all of our belongings for us at no charge also.
These people could not have been more caring or courteous. FW saved our vacation from being a total disaster.
It ended happily ever after............................

definetly I'd have to say our honeymoon in 97'. We spent the 1st 2 nights of our honeymoon at the GF before moving over to Dixie Landings for the rest of the week. We booked just a standard view room as we were splurging for the 2 nights just to stay at the GF and when they found out we were on our honeymoon, they upgraded us to a suite!! We got to stay in a suite in the SAGO CAY building overlooking the lagoon and monorail and when we had come back from the park that night, they had also sent us complimentary champagne with a rose! We took the champagne down to the marina and sat on the steps near Gasparilla Grill and watched the fireworks over Cinderella's Castle.

To this day it is the most awesome upgrade we've ever received when staying at WDW!

The best had to be on the last trip we took. First, we were upgraded from POFQ due to the renovations to the Polynesian and then AKL. When we got to AKL, we were then upgraded to the 2 BR-suite. We paid less than a quarter of what they normally charge for that room, but it was SO beautiful. I loved that room and am quite sad to know that I will never be able to stay there again!

Just noticed you are going to South Africa and would love to hear what you have planned. We were there in April and had the most wonderful time.

:)

We have been very fortunate to receive multiple upgrades of view, location, etc. during our visits. We have had upgrades to Conceirge, Suites, WL courtyard view to a 2BR at VWL...but our most memorable was this past May which I posted earlier this year.

We had a WV at the YC and they were doing construction outside our room.....we ended up in the Newport Suite at the BC for a week!

Since I have started taking my DS we have been very fortunate with upgrades and surprises.

In March 2002, we had 2 standard rooms booked at CSR, we were upgraded to 2 junior suites at check-in! They were very nice.

In May 2003, we stayed at the BC for my DS's 5th birthday, when we returned to the room on his b-day, there was a mini birthday party set-up in the room, a cake, streamers, balloons, a card and gift from Mickey. My son was thirilled (as was I)!

The best deal or upgrade I ever received from Disney is last fall 2002 when Disney closed the CBR for OPR rehab....they moved me to the Poly for the same price I paid per night at CBR which was a $120.00 a night. I'll probably never see that kind of deal again! But we had a great time!

We received one night free during out stay at the Polynesian Concierge. We had an abundance of problems during check-in and our first day.

Of course I just used all the extra money for more Disney souvenirs ;).

The first real Disney magic was at WL, we had a courtyard view and the CM sent us up to concierge for no reason at all :)

The second was even better. Last October I had a rate of $155 for WL courtyard view. When checking in the CM asked if we'd like an upgrade to GF. We were in Sago Cay with a lagoon view for a whopping $155 a night :)

Thanks to a special angel, our balcony rooms at the Swan and Dolphin, with beautiful views!:D

Three years ago.my dh, ds, and I were booked at Port Orleans for a 7 night stay. Two weeks before we left, a cm called and asked if we would be interested in upgrading to a deluxe resort for $20.00 per night. Needless to say, we said yes! We ended up staying at the Boardwalk Inn for $144.00 per night, at a time when the standard room there were going for $269.00 a night! I don;t know why they made that offer; maybe because we had stayed at Disney a few times previously, but whatever the reason, we were extremely grateful for the opportunity.

Last year, was our first time staying on-site. At AKL, they gave us an upgrade from standard to savanah view. It was a really nice surprise :)
