DH and I are night owls- we are both night shifters (well, I was when I worked). I am thinking we may have some sleepless time while everyone else is snoozing. ;) What on the ship is open 24 hours?

nothing.
you can order room service 24 hours, but that's it.

for me, that's one of the weaknesses of DCL.
I wish they had at least one food spot open during the night. As is true on Princess cruise lines and some others.

The beverage station is open 24-hours. You can have a beverage and sit on deck....very pretty at night.

seriously? you think a beverage station is the same as a cafe/buffet?

for that matter they can order room service and take the tray out on deck and eat. geez.....

DCL is weak in this area. All the koolaid in the world won't change that fact.

I don't think they poster was stating that the drink station was better than a cafe/buffet they were answering the original question which is what is open 24 hours a day.

Not only is there no 24-hour eatery available on DCL, on the cruises I have been on, the ship is a complete ghost town after 11 p.m. or so.

That was a little rude. TinkBell10 just said the drink station was open, why the hostility?

the beverage station is a drink dispenser machine.
i don't think that's what the OP was interested in.

Really is nothing going on. Frankly, there is nobody else up anyway except for an occasional band of teens wandering around having fun. If you want to do the midnight movie, that will take you until 2 am or so. I am a late nighter and just wound up sitting on various deck chairs (the wooden/padded ones on decks 4 or 5 or something) and just read my kindle and listened to my ipod. This was nice and relaxing, except that they start washing down the decks with pressure washers so I occasionally had to move. One night I wandered to the front of the ship outside- after about 5 minutes, one of the crew members came out to see if I was "ok"- I think they thought I was deranged or was pulling a Kate Winslet in Titanic or something.

Although seeing the ship in its "sleepy" state is nice and relaxing, I wish there was SOME option for an insomniac, such as a 24/7 diner-type option. I didn't try this, but does anyone know if I can get room service to deliver to me on deck somewhere? My wife and kids are sleeping, so I can't have it sent to the room, but it would be nice to have a late night picnic with my kindle.

ok. the drink dispenser is open.
let's have a party.
maybe it dispenses koolaid.

meanwhile, nothing is open on the ship for 24 hours.

as another poster mentioned, it's a ghost town.

we've walked the decks late at night. Nothing. Actually, not even ghosts. That might be exciting.

If you're a night owl, you can order room service and watch TV.

I wish they'd at least have the movie theater running at night. I guess the noise might bother the staterooms that are nearby.
but we never seem to have time during the day to get to the movies, so it would be really nice to be able to see a movie at 2 in the morning, when the adult district closes.

Wow....the poster was just answering the question. No need to get snippy.

DCL is definitely not a late night crowd. By midnight, most venues are empty. Depending on the crowd, there might be some action going on in the nightclub but that varies from cruise to cruise.

If there is a release of a "hot" Disney/Touchstone movie, there will be a midnight showing on release day.

I've been up at 3 am looking for my kid and trust me, the only people that were up were the maintenance folks cleaning the top deck with sprayers. I didn't find anyone else...except after 45 minutes I did find my kid.

oh that would be fun - i doubt they would deliver to you on deck, but it would be fun if they would. If we're even on a cruise with you, we can have a late night deck party - we can order from room service and that other poster can go get us drinks from the beverage station ;)

no one is up because DCL doesn't have anything available not because no one wants it.
If DCL builds it, we will come.
other cruise lines have 24 hour eating venues and people are there at all hours of the night. The same would be true on the disney ships if something was open.
i know - how about the cove cafe? have that open 24 hours a day.
are there staterooms under the cove cafe? probably. So that wouldn't work either.

how about the meridian. any staterooms under it?

The poster asked a question, and I answered it. The beverage station IS open 24 hours. You seem to have a very hostile attitude on all your responses on this thread. Clearly you're not happy with what's available 24-hours, but getting snarky with other posters is not necessary when we're just responding to questions.

Room service will only deliver to your cabin, no deck deliveries. You can still have it delivered to your cabin, just wait out in the hall for the delivery and then take the tray wherever you want to eat. The teens do this a lot.

that's a good idea.

although, you might be sitting in the hallway for a while. Room service takes time.

I'm a night owl also, and I'm worried about the lack of late night options too. They really should have at least one place open 24/7 where you can hang out and get snacks/drinks. I don't want to wait in my cabin for (or worse, sit in the hallway) for room service. To me, that doesn't really fit the bill anyway. I think people want a place available to go to that has other signs of life as well and maybe intereact with other people.

If you are interested in more nighttime entertainment the only way that might happen is if enough people write to DCL and ask for it. I could be wrong but I thought they did used to offer more night time offerings and found they weren't being used.
If they don't hear from you they won't know there is a demand and won't change their policies.

the adult district is open until 2 AM. I think it is. So that's late enough for most people probably.

but i would really like a cafe or buffet open all night. What can i say - i like to sit over coffee and a snack at all hours. Probably weird, but it enhances the experience.

i have an idea - open the kids clubs to adults in the middle of the night - so we can play with the floor.

I think you might be right. I would think the majority of DCL's guests are families with young children. I doubt very many of them are out late at night. The night owls are probably a small minority.

Having Cove Cafe open 24 hours, or even just a few hours later, might be a good idea though.
