We usually go to WDW but decided to go to California this year for a change so I haven't been paying much attention to WDW. Now we've decided to go back to WDW next summer and I just wondered if anybody can tell what's new in Orlando (WDW, Universal & Seaworld) since summer 2004 please?

Epcot - Soarin' - But you would have had this at DL!

Epcot - Mission Space - Didn't go on, too chicken!

MGM - Lights Motors Action - Same as DLRP

Busch Gardens - Sheikra - New coaster, 90degree drop :scared1:

AK - Expedition Everest - New coaster opening 2006

Not sure what else, Anything springs to mind I'll add on later

I think the stunt show at Universal is new this year too. The one based on a show where people do extreme stunts or eat horrible things. The name escapes me just now.

IoA have the Matt Hoffman Stunt Show too, I think this is new this year.

Fear Factor :)

And don't forget the complete waste of time that is Stitch! :rotfl:

Thanks everyone! I'd heard that the new Stitch show is like a toned down "Alien Encounter" and it sounds like you weren't impressed Carol!! What's Cinderellabration like and has anyone seen Lucky the Dinosaur at AK?

Apparently Lucky was a short term thing (bit disappointed wanted to see him in November) so I don't know when or if he'll reappear again. Stitch was 'okay' my DS loved it as he loves anything stitch but personally I wouldn't bother unless its a walk on. haven't seen cinderellabration yet either, I'll let you know after the next trip

we saw Lucky in July during his last appearance there...
it's my understanding that he was being moved to the far east....i think to Tokyo DisneySea but maybe it was to hong kong....to the Far East in any case....

and yes he was fun....

by the way, how did you like Disneyland and DCA?

Hi Beth! We loved the California parks especially the Magic Kingdom and we also loved the climate - hot but not humid and positively cool some evenings -bliss!! I'd love to see more of California. I think we'll return to WDW next year though because it's obviously so much bigger and we also like Universal in Orlando better than the one in Hollywood and we love Seaworld (though we did go to the one in San Diego which I think was better than the Orlando one!) But whereas you can happily spend 3 weeks in Orlando and have loads to do you can pretty much to DLC in a week. Maybe go back one day to see San Francisco, Grand Canyon, Yosemite etc!!

Hi!

3 years ago we spent 3 weeks at WDW then flew to LA for a week at DL/DCA...
and yes i agree, there are things about DL that i like better than the Magic Kingdom (e.g. better Fantasyland).....but i think i still prefer the MK to DL and of course WDW overall to DL/DCA..

as for other things to see, yes the western US is quite beautiful...if you have a lot of time, a road trip is the way to go...

regarding new things in WDW since 2004, the Living Seas is being refurbished now, to reopen at the end of the year....but i don't know what they're changing....i hope they leave turtle talk with crush....we saw it in July and again in August....very funny...

let's see...what else...Wonders of Life seems to be permanently closed...even though there's a sign saying "closed today"....it was even closed during the peakest peaks in July....Also the Timekeeper in MK seems to be permanently closed (with some characters using the area for picture taking)...

and yes, Stitch's Great Escape is a failure of monumental proportions....bring back Alien Encounter...

they also need to either bring back Notre Dame at MGM or replace it with another stage show....MGM's feeling a bit light....
by the way, we didn't like Lights, Motors Action (or whatever it's called)...
it was hotter than Hades in the stands...

was Wishes in the MK when you were there in 2004? Wishes is one of my absolute favorite things in all of WDW....really brilliant..

oh...another new thing....At Typhoon Lagoon - there's a new set of slides called Crush and Gusher....it will ruin you for all other slides....the best water slides we've ever been on....

Thanks for that long list Beth!
We saw Turtle Talk with Crush at DCA this summer but I'd be very interested to see what else is new in The Living Seas.
We've seen Lights, Motors, Action at DLP - or at least my daughter and I have but as I'll be going to WDW with DH I guess I'll be seeing it again - I can imagine how hot it must get there and with that delightful diesel smell too!!!
We haven't seen Wishes but did see the firework show at DLC which sort of incorporates it but we always love to see the fireworks shows.
Tycoon Lagoon is my favourite water park. Oh dear - 11 months to go and I can't wait already!!!!

actually i hate fireworks shows...wishes is the first one i've loved...
the synchronization is beautiful...
by the way , i hate illuminations and fantasmic, although i enjoyed fantasmic at DL - we viewed it from the gallery - the gallery deserts/fantasmic thing....one of the nicest things we did at DL....
