What's more American than Disney?!We Brave the 4th of July! TR LINK pg. 55!!!!!!!

I think I am sorry to hear about Tom's job--I am sorry for the loss of a solid income, but from your tone it sounds like it was really a good push. ;)(One of the chunks of wisdom from my mom was to never have to hold a job I hated - which is why she insisted that I had a college education.)

I hope you don't have to cancel your plans. (Now, if you have to delay them a week, I will join you for illuminations instead of Wendy. :rotfl:).

Sorry to hear about Tom's job Nikki... but you seem to have a fantastic attitude about it - 'keep moving forward' like Walt said! :goodvibes ... and so far it doesn't affect the vacation plans, which is great!! :wizard:

Btw DF & I have booked our hotel for our NYC trip! got an amazing deal at The New Yorker ... one website had it for £500 ($750) for 3 nights, while Expedia was showing £1,900 ($3,000) ?! :confused3 so we booked it asap!

Happy weekend!

Emma princess: xx

ps - any plans to publish your Single Riders song?! :woohoo:

Yes "keep moving forward!" That is actually one of Tom's favorite quotes. He had it engraved on our ipods!

Great deal on the hotel! Where is it? What are your dates again?

As for the song...it's coming along, actually! I found out that I have a program on my computer (imovie) that can edit video so we're good on that front. (I think I posted a short video that I made of my niece.) And I just started playing around with a sound editing program (audacity). I found an instrumental version of the song on youtube and just hit the record button while it played and I tried very hard not to cough! (I have a little cold!) THEN you can record OVER a recording so we shall see......

Thank! I really appreciate it. His income wasn't that great, as it was, to be honest. I mean, don't get me wrong, not having that money is going to suck but I think we can manage. The only problem is that I don't get paid over the summer being a teacher, and I haven't really been saving as much as I normally do because I've been paying off the honeymoon and $5000 vet bills from when my cat was sick so.....who know. We'll make it work, though.

I really hope we don't have to cancel either but we have APs so that's paid for. The flights have long been paid and I have put aside the money to pay off the balance at check-in so unless we really need the extra money, I have already budgeted the money for this trip.

I don't know, maybe it's being irresponsible but you have to stay happy, right?

The only reason we would cancel is if Tom got a new job that the trip somehow interfered with.

Aww that's such a nice phrase to have on your iPods! I have it as my 'welcome message' when I switch on my phone :goodvibes

Hotel is in midtown, it's across the street from Madison Square gardens, walking distance of Macy's and Empire State Building and also Penn Station :goodvibes .. I've been reading my NYC guidebook nearly every day, it's my bible! everything about the city seems amazing.. we're sooo excited!
We'll be in NYC from 8-11 December, then fly down to Orlando... it'll be like two vacations in one! :woohoo:

I'm sorry to hear about your DH's job loss. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise:flower3:. Hope all goes well in the hunt for a new one--one that he likes!

Oh perfect location! Penn Station is connected Madison Square Garden. I would say to look for Tom since he comes into the city through Penn Station every day but he definitely won't be by then! Unless he gets another job in Manhattan. Great location. Everything is in walking distance and if you don't feel like walking, there are cabs ALL OVER the place right there. They line up outside of the Garden!

Oh great time of year! You can go see the tree and everything! What fun! I'll definitely come in and meet you guys to see the tree if you're up for it one night. I haven't seen the tree in a few years.

Thanks. Yes, we just have to hope for the best!

Nikki sorry to hear about the job loss. It seems like you have a good handle on the situation though! I hope he finds a job soon and that the vacation can go on as planned! Looking forward to meeting you!

Thanks a lot! Hopefully it will all work out for the best.

hi nikki, hope you got my mail?

sorry to hear about tom's job loss, my dad and a few other family members work in the construction uindustry and the not knowing is probably the worst part...but hopefully things will get sorted out for the best in a short period of time...

don't know if this is an irish or general saying...'what's for you won't go by you'...

Thanks Cathy! I never heard that saying before. I'm going to have to tell Tom that one. He is mostly Irish, after all! ;) He's got all Kathys and Maureens and in his family! I think we might make some nice Irish/Italian children! (My Italian family is filled with all variations of "Nicholas!") He needs a job first, though!

July 8
Departure Day :(

Really not sure what we'll do this day. Either MK or Epcot.

4:00 Magical Express bus to MCO :(

Sounds like a great plan. We are thinking of doing the Behind the Seeds Tour this trip too. We were going to do it spring break, but did not get to it.

I would love to be able to plan each day - but with four of us - somebody usually has a monkey wrench to throw into my plan!

I don't think it is irresponsible b/c you already have the bulk paid for. How about a waitress gig for you? Your smile in your pictures makes me think you would be wonderful - and you are a teacher, so multitasking and quick on your feet is certainly easy for you!

If not, you could get a part-time job (or maybe Tom can) at Disney Store to get the hotel discount.

I went to the book store tonight and advised some one which Disney books to get; offered some titles and authors to a woman...I guess I know where I would get a part-time job if we needed extra income. People surely think I am crazy or lonely...:rotfl:

BTW I vote for Earl of Sandwich (I haven't eaten at WPE, but LOVE Earl!)

Haha! I hear ya! Rarely does each day go according to plan, anyway!

Haha, thanks for the smile compliment! I have thought about a part-time job but I don't think it's necessary just yet. We'll see what happens...I did just spend a good hour on the disney careers website, though! Just for fun...maybe some day...

Thanks for the tip on Earl! :thumbsup2

I love reading the Disney careers website!! Kyle decided today he would like to go to Full Sail University it Orlando (he is only in 7th grade, so this will change many times I am sure) - that would be great and shorten our wait time for our move to Florida!!

Fewer people are easier to coordinate - one trip I went a few days early with just the kids. We did fine, till DH showed up!! :rotfl: I even had them on a bus going to Typhoon Lagoon at 7:15am for EMH - never would have happened if John was there.

Looks wonderful Nikki! I'm jealous just reading through it ;)

After Paradiso 37.. have you thought about going to Raglan Road for the evening? DF and I went there in 2006 (after AC! :guilty:) & 2008 and it was a fun place to be... usually there is a live band & Irish dancers.. we sat up at the bar & got chatting with the bar-staff :goodvibes

Emma princess: xx

Your plans sound great, can't wait to hear all about it :goodvibes

10:00 ~ Check-in to POR (think our room will be ready?): Hey, you never know! It has happened to us before!

12:00 ~ Lunch at DTD, maybe Wolfgang Express or Earl of Sandwich :confused3: Oooh those are both good choices. Have you been to either one before?

Hang at DTD until we hear that our room is ready.: That is such a great idea since you can just hop back on a boat!

July 2
9:00 ~ Magic Kingdom!
Would LOVE to get breakfast at the Main St. Bakery. I never have and always wanted to!: We finally did this for the first time in March. I loved it. I really recommend it!

July 3
8:00 ~ Animal Kingdom!
Frozen cappuccino and cinamon bun at Royal Anandapur Tea Co. while people watching and listening to the monkey's screaming! (tradition!): We tried this place for the first time in March! It was cold that day so we had hot drinks, but we can't wait to try the cold drinks in July. And we could not believe those monkeys! HAHA

July 5
9:00 ~ Somehow get to WL. Probably bus to MK, boat to WL.
10:10 ~ ADR for Whispering Canyon Cafe (that breakfast skillet looks delish!): The boat ride is gorgeous! Have your camera ready!! And by the way, ask for ketchup at breakfast!

Really? Actually I think the first time we stayed at POR our room was ready when we got there and it was around 11am so maybe....

12:00 ~ Lunch at DTD, maybe Wolfgang Express or Earl of Sandwich :confused3: Oooh those are both good choices. Have you been to either one before?

I have NOT eaten at either. Just looked at the menus on allears.

Hang at DTD until we hear that our room is ready.: That is such a great idea since you can just hop back on a boat!

Totally! We don't want to push it that day. We always rush to the MK and then end up exhausted. We want to take it easy!

Aren't those monkeys the funniest! It's only in the very early morning though, they just SCREAM!

Yes, I've stayed at WL a few times and that boat ride is amazing! Depending on how late we stay out the night before (and how much we drink ;)), I'm not sure asking for ketchup is such a good idea!
:thumbsup2

Check it out, I'm commenting on a TR the same decade it was written! :D

SO COOL about the Wishes fireworks cruise!!

Not sure if this helps with your ADRs, but T-Rex only does reservations for about 25% of their tables, they reserve the rest for walk-ups.

Or just pack up and move to FL! One of us, one of us!!! ;)
