What's more American than Disney?!We Brave the 4th of July! TR LINK pg. 55!!!!!!!

Thanks for coming over!! So glad you like the song! I don't know! I'm still not sure how I'm actually going to record the song but there will definitely be some dance moves!

LOVE the Sound of Music. I was going to watch it but I had on High School Musical 3. (:confused3) It is very hard to stop once you have one song in your head.

BTW, last summer, we met Marie in the center of Epcot. She was standing by herself with no one around and we RAN to her because we had never seen her out before. Since then, she started making more appearances in France but I think this is when they were still testing her out.

Haha I'm not gonna lie, I was flipping back and forth between the Sound of Music and High School Musical 3. I'm a sucker for cheesy musicals! :rotfl:

And that picture with Marie is great. I really hope I get to meet her this summer.

LOVE the song Nikki! very imaginative... you should send the lyrics into a Disney podcast to be read out.. hehe! :goodvibes

Really?! You think? Maybe I'll wait to see what comes of it...if we don't get any further than just the written lyrics, I'll think about sending. If we end up making a video, I'll definitely send it!

Hope everyone is having a good evening!

A bit of bad news that we saw coming...

The hospital that DH works for in lower Manhattan (St. Vincent's) is 700 million dollars in debt and for the past few months they have been trying to climb out of this debt. They had a lot of layoffs (that DH survived), they all took a pay cut and there were a few prospective buyers who have all since backed out. So as of yesterday, they are officially closing....which means anywhere between 2 weeks and 3 months from now, DH will be unemployed. :( Very scary. Especially with the was NJ education is these days (thanks Gov. Christie!) there is a possibility that I may be in the same boat. If that happens...who knows what we're going to do. (Move to Florida, perhaps?)

For now, this will not effect our July trip. The only thing that might impact it is if DH gets a job and can't take the time off that soon. But we have NO idea where he will be by then. As of now, he will definitely collect unemployment and see if he can take advantage of any programs his union or the government might offer to take courses and things like that. Luckily, we don't have kids or a mortgage so this isn't the end of the world but it still SUCKS!

Nikki - I am so sorry to hear that! It is a tough economy - and I hope things all work out. I know right now it probably seems pretty scary and uncertain. I do hope you can still go on your Dis trip - being selfish, I am looking forward to seeing you - but also, because it would be hard to give up.

Like you said, at least you do not have kids or a mortgage to worry about. This might even turn out to be a cloud with a silver lining.

I will send pixie dust that all goes well.pixiedust:

Thank you! Yes, I think this could actually be a good thing because Tom HATES his job. He hates the people he works with, whose incompetence most likely caused this mess. (He works in the billing department. :rolleyes1) His "bosses" will try everything they can to do things the easy way over the right way and don't want to hear it from Tom until they are held accountable and ask him why things weren't done right! :confused3

Well anyway, the average person may have left a long time ago but it's a pain to look for a new job so this is a motivation and he will hopefully end up in a better place.

It would be heartbreaking to give up, but like I said to Tom today, Disney will always be there! As of now, it's still on with no plans to cancel...

...we shall see....

Well, he can always ask his new employer to take his previously planned vacation - all they can say is no.

I'm sorry to hear about the hospital closing, it really is tough out there and despite news reports etc saying we are out of the recession, we're still feeling the afterburn.

I hope Tom can figure something out soon, who knows this might be a blessing in disguise and he might find the perfect job or opportunity that you guys would not have thought possible/of before :)

I am sure your employer would understand Re: your Disney trip. Over here if we have booked a holiday such as flights, hotel etc and its been paid for, the employer is supposed to let you take that time off because it was booked before you joined their company (I know there is a term for it, but can't remember what). Otherwise, worse comes to worse you can always delay his start date :)

Sending lots of pixiedust:: your way and :goodvibes

Thanks Stefy.

Yeah, I'm not going to worry about the trip until I have a reason to. Anything can happen in 83 days!

In fact, I just switched some ADRs around last night! Originally, I had an 8:25am Tusker House the morning after the 4th of July Illuminations. With the show being at 10, and the fact that we like to hang around so we're not racing out with the crowds, we probably won't get out of Epcot until around 11. By the time we get to bed, it might be midnight and then we have to wake up at like 6:30? No thanks!

So I put the Tusker House breakfast on the 6th (can't believe I was still able to get the same time!) and moved Whispering Canyon brunch (10:10) to the 5th. I think that works better. I'm so excited for the all-you-can-eat skillet!

That sounds like a better set up, don't want to have a late night then have to wake up early :) Score on getting all the times you wanted to :thumbsup2

I think that was a good decision! I hate getting up early - especially after a late night. Last time we were at Epcot for July 4th we stayed at the Boardwalk Inn so it was easy to get out and we could walk back to the hotel. This year, we will need to brave the crowds to the monorail - so you are right, it will be a late night!

You could let all the crowds go to the monorail and stroll around WS wit hus after Illuminations ends! You know how we do "the long way!"

On our last trip, we stayed so long after the park closed that the first bus in the lot just asked us where we were headed and we had the whole thing to ourselves! It really is so relaxing just sitting on a bench and watching everyone hustle in herds! Like they can't get out fast enough! So much better to watch them all leave and take our time soaking in the sights and sounds of WS at night!

I think that is a great idea!! Where do you usually watch Illuminations from? It would be nice to get a table in France next to the Slushie stand.......we sat there once, not a bad view. We have also watched from near Norway (access to the bakery). Last week we watched from the bridge between England and France. We also, have watched from near the shops near Future World and the Friendship docks - but it is crowded up there.

We've seen it enough times now that we usually watch just from wherever we happen to be! Or even while we are walking! But for this one, I definitely want to find "a spot." We'll definitely plan to meet up! I'm sure we need to secure our spot pretty early on that night.....

Yes, we will need to sit early, especially if you want a "seat". Since they are redoing the Mexican QS - all that space to watch Illuminations is gone - so there are fewer spots.

We have seen it so many times too - so usually we are not picky either - but since it is July 4th we probably are best staking out a spot.

Nikki, sorry to hear about your DH's job. Hope it isn't too long before he finds another. Thinking of you.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about the work situation! I hope everything works out for the best.

Sorry to hear about Tom's job Nikki... but you seem to have a fantastic attitude about it - 'keep moving forward' like Walt said! :goodvibes ... and so far it doesn't affect the vacation plans, which is great!! :wizard:

Btw DF & I have booked our hotel for our NYC trip! got an amazing deal at The New Yorker ... one website had it for £500 ($750) for 3 nights, while Expedia was showing £1,900 ($3,000) ?! :confused3 so we booked it asap!

Happy weekend!

Emma princess: xx

ps - any plans to publish your Single Riders song?! :woohoo:
