What's Mandel Bread?

I've been on a quest for biscotti, and have failed in finding it anywhere but Starbucks. (The MGM casino has amazing pistachio
biscotti, but you have to go to an event there to get it - they don't sell it retail.)

In Albertson's in their Kosher bakery area, I found almond Mandel Bread.

This seems to be a pretty good substitute, I was just wondering if there was some special tradition behind it.

Anyone?

my grandmother, may she rest in peace, used to bake her own. there's no tradition or custom associated with it -- it just tastes good.
