Well, due to our school system cracking down on absences it looks like we will be going to Disney in June '07...yeah!! But what's it really like crowd & weather wise. We are hoping to be there 6/23 - 6/30.

As you can see from my siggy DH & I went there in June on our Honeymoon in 1991 but that was so long ago AK was not open and we didn't have kids to travel with.

TIA

Hi,

It's very hot and pretty crowded. By the end of your time there the July 4 crowds will be starting to build, so it will get very crowded.

HOT :sunny: Pack lots of sunscreen and carry bottles of water. Have a blast! We're also doing a summer trip 7/11-18 for much the same reason.

don't be surprised by those afternoon rain showers that are pretty much a daily event.

Like has already been said...

Hot.

Crowded.

Managable with smart use of EMH and Fastpass.

Well, I'll be honest, June is awful. Yeah, I know you're in WDW and that alone is great, but it was so hot in June 2005 when we visited (and that was at the beginning of the month) that we could barely move. I ended up getting sick at the end of the trip and was miserable. Sorry, but I had to share our experience. I hope we don't have to go during the summer months again.

We've gone in June the past 4 years. Get to the parks early, Take mid-day breaks, drink plenty of water. We have no problem going in June. Just plan well. Utilize the pool. We'll be there next June as well. :)

We went there in June this year.. The 17th thru the 23rd. It was pretty hot out :sunny:, But I never felt as if I was going to pass out or something. I would recommend carrying a waterbottle with you at all times. The Crowds were semi-big.. But not uncomfrotable.

We went in June of last year (24th onwards) with our 3 kids (11, 8 and 1 at the time). Yes, it was very hot but we had an amazing time. Obviously lots of water and sun screen are required! Those mister fans are handy (though the big Disney ones are a pain to lug around) and make sure you have ponchos for everyone. Try to get up and out early and take afternoon breaks for swimming and napping.

I also think you need to be flexible. We're not accustomed to that kinda heat at all, lol!! We found we changed our plans a few times on a whim to suit everyone's energy levels and heat-exhaustion levels (!) but it all worked out really well and we had three very happy children for the duration of the holiday!

We went 6/22 to 6/30, 2006 and it was hot but not unbearable. There was rain 5 days always starting in the afternoon but not lasting more than an hour or two. 1 day it rained most of the afternoon and into the evening but nothing that would keep you from touring as long as you had poncho's.

The crowds weren't that bad in my opinion and like Bob P said they will build toward the end of the week because of 4th of July. We had no trouble touring and seeing what we wanted because we were always at the parks at least 20 minutes before opening(except one day when the kids just wouldn't get going).

There was one day when the crowds got to the point where I was ready to bail out and that was an EMH morning at Epcot. By 11 am it was nearly shoulder to shoulder in The Land Pavilion and crowds were noticably larger. Then it began to rain and after a couple of hours of on and off showers the crowds thinned out. We also were at Epcot in the morning of a day when they had EMH in the evening and by noon it was getting pretty crowded. I will NOT go to a park with EMH again.

You will be fine as long as you do some advance planning, arrive at the parks at opening and do shows in the afternoon or breaks back at the hotel.

I have only been twice and both times during the summer and I can't imagine going any other time. I love it!

We were there June 18-25, 2006 and had a blast! It was miserably hot, but we knew that going into it. We always had a water bottle and a fastpass, and had afternoon breaks back at the hotel. The crowds weren't that bad - we were at the parks at opening and leaving by 1:00 or 2:00 - as long as you prepare for the heat and have a plan, you'll have a great time! We'll be going back in June '08 - I can't wait!

Any one have info on early June? We will be going the first week next year.

One year we were there during the end of June/early July. It was hot and crowded, like everyone else has said. But thanks to my mom's wonderful planning, we had a blast! Just make sure to plan as much as possible and that will help out a lot. Have fun!!! :sunny:

We went the same time you plan to go (June 23-29, 2006), and we absolutely loved it. It was the first time we have gone in the summer, and I was worried about the heat, but it really wasn't bad at all. I loved how late the parks were open (EMH's until 2 and even 3 in the morning!) and how almost everything was open and operating. If you pick your parks right and use FP, the crowds were manageable. If you want details, I wrote a very long trip report:

We plan to return in the summer again!!

We went from the 4-11th this year, and, quite frankly, we liked it better in June than in Sept. Yes, it was busy, but with fast passes, it made everything soo much easier. Just like everyone else has said, take lots of water and sunscreen, take breaks and use the pool, and you'll have a great time! We liked it so much that we plan on going back again in early June of 2008!

Thank you all for your quick responses!! It sounds like with some planning and carrying the right things we should have a great time. Of course we will, we will be at DISNEY!!

I'll need to keep my eyes open for some mister fans on clearance in the next few weeks!! I have been watching the weather and it has generally been within a couple of degrees here (central Alabama) of what it is in Orlando. The big difference is that we are in offices all day so definitely used to the heat.

Thanks again!!

Is there a big difference in crowds between mid to late June and mid to late July?

HOT :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: and Crowded :guilty: :guilty: with long lines! Take a break during the day at your resort hotel, that is the best thing. Very early June like the 1-4 or so is a little less of the misery.

I'm glad I went once in June so that I know to never, ever do it again. I have braved the week between Christmas and New Years and President's Week and I would do those weeks again in a heartbeat, but the humidity in June was too much for me to take. By the time you get through the gates, your shirts will be wet with sweat. We would bring extra shirts with us. We don't normally take mid day breaks even when the kids were younger, but we couldn't take the heat and had to go back to the townhouse for a swim. Thank goodness our townhouse had a washer and dryer because our clothes were gross. If you don't plan on doing any laundry then pack a ton of clothes because you will wear at least 2 outfits if not more per day. We wore 3-4 outfits per day. It still is a great time because it is Disney, but a trip to the beach would have been more enjoyable to me in June.
