What's in YOUR owner's locker?

ArweTHEREyet, that is GREAT!!! Where did you find all the stick on stuff? Were they mostly in the park shops?

What is not in our owners locker, we have everything down there:
Body Wash
Shampoo
Razors for both
Sunscreen
Sugar
Splenda
Coffee Grinder (Can't stand Disney coffee)
Ponchos
Couple Umbrellas
Soap
Just about everything you could think of health and beauty wise, we just keep our list and we know what is running low so the next trip down we bring it.

I made everything on there myself. :goodvibes I have a Cricut (crafting computerized router) and I cut them out of vinyl.

I have to make Mickey a left foot and I am not too crazy about the other side, but I made all this the day before we left on our trip and was just hoping it would fit. I don't know how well the vinyl will hold up, but I guess we will find out when we visit our locker again in January.

Maybe for the other side I can make something for Goofy and Daisy and Chip and Dale, or maybe do all autographs. I don't know, gotta think about that one.

RweTHEREyet, Very cute idea!

We have all the usual stuff in our OL, plus:
framed pics of grandkids and kids
feather pillow (can't be without it)
regular keyboards for our laptops (gotta work a little)
press pot
brita faucet filter
curling iron, flat iron

I may have posted these earlier but I didn't have time to read through all the thread to see if I had already posted on this particular thread.
I'm a huge supporter of OL, when I finally decided to try it (Queen of frugal didn't want to spend the money), Dh and I were hooked. Love it, love it, LOVE IT!

John has also mentioned that they may start renting flat screen monitors at some point, which would be a huge help. We need one while at WDW and it's a pain to carry with us, and it takes up quite a bit of room in our OL so I'm not sure I want to leave it.

Anyway, for those of you thinking of trying the OL, give it a try, you have nothing to lose.

Just reiterating my question about the Brita faucet filters. Anyone know if there is a reason NOT to let THOSE dry out?

I just read back through and came across this. I use the Brita faucet filter and haven't had a problem. I'm the one that uses a plastic bag (unsealed) to store it in between visits. I drain the filter as much as possible, place a folded paper towel in the bottom of the bag, place the filter rightside up in the bag, then place the bag in my OL in a position where it won't get tipped over. It has worked perfectly (4 trips) each time. Drying out hasn't been an issue, I can't stand Florida water, and it's working at least enough to get the bad taste/odor out. Sorry any Florideans that love the water, I'm just not used to it.

Especially for those of us who fly to WDW, Owner's Locker is a savings. Almost all of the airlines now charge to check bags--many now charge even for the first bag, and the charge is EACH way. Multiply that by multiple travelers and multiple trips and the cost really skyrockets. Having a lot of miscellaneous stuff already there makes packing and unpacking SO much easier. We are wondering whether we should get a second locker to keep only clothes for various seasons (and free up some space at home!) Then we could go to WDW with almost nothing. When I think of the cost of going to WDW--DVC costs and plane tickets and park tickets and rental car and souvenirs and food-- the Owner's Locker fee is nothing. Besides, I just love the feeling of having my stuff there. It makes me feel like WDW really IS my second home!

I just had to say hi. It was so nice to meet you in person at the Meet 'n Greet for OL owners. :goodvibes

I bring a white noise machine too. I should buy another to keep in my owner's locker. I thought I was the only crazy person that brought that. :goodvibes

Nope, we have a sound soother in our OL too.

I bought a Brita this past summer to leave in my make-shift OL. I read in the literature that came with it, that if the filter dries out, you simply go through the process of soaking it, the same as the first time you used it.

A couple of things that I am adding to mine because I have found the ones in the units unacceptable:

vegetable pealer
spatula (for flippin' pancakes)
wire whisk (for stirrin' that pancake batter)

I think I could gnaw on my potatoes like a beaver better than the pealers that I have repeatedly come across in the units.

This is good to know - I packed a peeler, but not a spatula or whisk. Will have to add that to the box. Target is making a killing off my OL. ;)

Oh and a couple of new additions: I bought one of those hanging storage units from Disneyshopping.com (here is the link to see what I'm talking about: http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp...productId=1230963&langId=-1&categoryId=13360). The ones that have about five little cubbies. This works out great for when everyone comes in the door. They stop, put their hat, lanyard, card key in their cubbie. Then no one has to run around looking for stuff when it's time to go. I hung it from the door stop at the top of the door. But I am also going to put a Command Adhesive hook in there. Easy removal with no damage.

Great idea!

I really like the wireless router one!!

Definitely - I picked up an Apple Airport Express just to keep there... I hate being "chained" to the desk, or dealing with the hassle of coiling up a 25' network cable!

I looked at Owner's Locker.

A $75 membership fee (plus tax) on top of $99 per year, just seems expensive to me. Not to mention the Premium plan that costs $179 per year.

I was calculating the price of the items that I'd put in storage, and it adds up to close to the price of the storage, if not a little less.

Buy items when you get there - $100
Owners locker - $75 Membership Fee + $99 per year + you still have to buy the product that your putting in the locker $100 = $274

Others might have pointed this out, but the membership fee is a one-time fee. Plus there's a DIS user discount and you get more visits for the first three years for the $99.

$274 vs. $100, I'll take the $100 every time.

Sorry, not trying to be negative, I just can't see the value in this. :confused3

For me, it isn't as simple as the cost of items stored. As a working mom, my time and energy are at a premium and the cost of the yearly fee is well worth it to have the peace of mind of knowing many of the things we need will already be there, not to mention the "where did you put the good mister fan?" search. Plus there are things we might buy there and not use up...now we'll be able to store those things rather than throw them away, which is so wasteful. And speaking of waste - I hate the taste of central Florida water but now we can have filtered water with our Brita pitcher, saving countless plastic bottles...much more environmentally friendly.

And here is what is ON my locker--

Very cute. Did you decorate the locker??

One thing that I keep in my Owner's Locker that I can't recall being mentioned is my old perscription glasses and sunglasses. I always try to pack them, but it's usually an item that I forget to pack, so now I leave an old pair in my owner's locker.

I had a pair break on vacation once, and it was not fun having to go find an optical shop in a strange city to get them repaired. Now, if something happens to my glasses while I'm at Disney, at least I have a spare pair nearby.

Very cute. Did you decorate the locker??

Yes I did. I made them out of vinyl, cutting the designs out with my Cricut. I am going to redo the one side that says The Millers-not crazy about that one. I think I am going to do characters autographs.

I am a new OL advocate. Its the best idea!! And what great customer service. Its not often that you get both a great idea AND great service!! Kudos to OL!

I'm adding in one of the Reynolds hand held vacuum sealer to my stash. You use their plastic "zip" bags then suck the air out. This way I can store the coffee and know that once I remove the air and vacuum seal it, it will taste as fresh as the day I opened it. I'll use that for sugar and any other opened packages. It should be small enough to not take up so much room and in doing so, will help make room for other stuff!

I'm also going to add a Family Log/Journal. Something a simple as a notebook that we can jot down the dates of our visit, the weather, what we did that was special. I think it will be a great thing to look back on in 2042 when our lease expires   I'm going to include the adhesive plastic pockets type things so I can stick in a family photo, room keys and other mementos to correspond with our trip. We will be going for our first visit as DVC owners so it will be great to start this with the beginning of our journey. I bought into DVC to make great family memories while our DD is young. Keeping it all documented in one spot will make it so much easier to remember.

I'm going to throw in my pressed penny collection too.

The rest of the stuff I have planned to pack is all basic stuff. Ponchos, umbrellas, toiletries, coffee/coffee filters, french press, etc.

I love this idea!

ETA: I read on another post that someone and their DD get each other a small gift, wrap it and stick it in their OL before it is sealed. When they return to their resort and open their OL, they each have a small surprise waiting! I think thats a great idea and will probably do some version of that for my DD.

My list is pretty complete since I started this thread way back when. My "stuff" for the locker is in fact, piled on my bed right now getting ready to be packed in a box to ship down to Orlando. The company my DH works for has an office down there, so we are sending the box to them and we will pick it up on our way from the airport to AKV next month. I decided today was the day to make sure I had everything in order!

I still haven't decided if I'm packing an air mattress or not. I'm thinking not at this point.

Thanks so much to everyone who posted their lists! It's helping me add to my list of things I need to collect and take with me when I go next year! No wait-it's this year! Ha-ha! June will be here soon!

I'm packing for a 1 bedroom stays, even though we are in studios right now. It won't be that much longer before we'll need to start staying in 1 bedrooms!! I can't WAIT to not have to pack all this crap every time we go!

We want to pack pillows (we HATE the hotel pillows), so I'm thinking maybe I'm going to get some space bags to squash the pillows down for storage in the OL. We're debating about extra sheets for the beds. We are adding a full sheet set and blanket for our twin air mattress (I like to keep the room COLD!)

The one thing I didn't see added was a pump for the air mattress. How are you guys blowing yours up? I don't want to take a battery operated one for fear of the batteries leaking, so I was looking at purchasing an electric one.

And is your air mattress the double-high one, or just the single layer one like a regular mattress would be? Ours is a single one, and I'm trying not to gross out about one of my kids sleeping so close to the ground :scared: Or I might just keep an eye out for a sale on a double-high one.

Very cute. Did you decorate the locker??

Yes I did, and seeing these pics again remind me that I need to cut out a right foot for Mickey before we leave on Thursday--just wish I could remember what size I made those shoes. All the images are cut out of vinyl.

I am another one who thinks OL would be a great idea but haven't convinced DH about it yet. We tent camp only once or twice per year but I have 2 really large plastic bins in the basement that are FILLED with items that are ONLY for camping (they are labeled on the lids with what's in which one). I keep a supply list of what's in them & what might need to be replenished before the next time. But it makes the whole camping thing so much easier to just carry the bins up & put them in the back of the truck...they include everything from a large griddle, dish soap & pot holders to bug spray & a clothsline. DH gave me grief about THOSE bins too - he finally admitted we used just about everything in them tho and gave me credit for the idea! I hope to convince him to sign up for an OL before our next trip.

I have read thru this thread pretty thoroughly and there are just a few items I think I would add that I didn't notice listed yet:

A can of air freshner for the bathroom (in case DH beats me in there in the morning!):rolleyes1

spare batteries - we are forever needing to replenish the batteries in our cameras and spray bottle / fans

and

paper plates / plasticware (there's never enough provided in the studios)
