What's in your favorite trifle?

Yum! Just when I thought I knew what to fix for my sister's wedding shower, you've given me a lot more to think about. :)

I love chocolate pudding, chocolate syrup, raspberry preserves & fresh raspberries, and whipped cream trifle. I put in lady fingers instead of pound cake to keep it light.

This sounds really good, would you mind sharing the recipe?

layer of chocolate cake crumbled

1 skor bar crumbled (using a food processor for finer or smash with a hammer in a zip lock baggiefor bigger peices)

That's pretty much the recipe. Any way you layer it would be fine. Start with a layer of the lady fingers down at the bottom of a clear glass bowl. Then layer in chocolate pudding. Next, spoon on store bought raspberry preserves (without seeds.) Sprinkle on some fresh rasberries. Next a thin layer of whipped cream. This could also be a vanilla custard instead. Drizzle Hershey's chocolate syrup across it. Another layer of the ladyfingers, chocolate pudding, preserves, raspberries. Generous mound of whipped cream at the top. Drizzled with more Hershey's syrup. You can top with crushed oreos ( and layer them on the whipped cream in the middle for some crunch.)

It's hard to mess up a Trifle as long as you use flavors that go together. :goodvibes

Chill for about half an hour or more. When you go to serve it, scoop all the way down, through ALL the layers.

You can even do this in individual glass parfait glasses. Or, those wide champagne glasses will work too. :cool1:

Our favorite in the summer is lemon.

angel food cake cubed, lemon pie filling (the canned stuff works great - has a good tart lemon taste.), and cool whip. layer and top with candied lemon peel.
This sounds great, will have to try it. Thanks!

Keep em coming.

Sponge Cake cut into chunks and soaked in Sherry, Grand Marnier, Brandy--whatever is your fave. Traditionally-it's Sherry. My Mum used to put a little Jam on the cake too??

Then after a few hours...some fresh fruit. I like Strawberries or Raspberries.

Add some heavenly Custard..from scratch or Birds?

Top with lots of FRESH cream and a crumbled Chocolate Flake bar!

Bliss..

Now you are talking!!!! ( I knew I was forgetting something--CUSTARD!)

I make mine dry though. Can't intoxicate the children.:lmao:

I love trifles so much.

I have made a pumpkin one before and taken it to work, it was a huge hit. I don't think it's the same one listed here. I get most of my trifle recipes from allrecipes.com. My favorite one used brownies, whipped cream and a cup of coffee poured over the brownies. I got the recipe off of allrecipes.com but I can't seem to find it. I'm not a huge coffee fan, but it was all so good mixed together. We don't even own a coffee pot, I had to go thru McDonalds and order a cup of coffee!

I have made several with fruit, angel food cake and jam. Or lady fingers when I can find them. You can usually only find them around the holidays.

Trifles are awesome :thumbsup2

ETA: Here is the brownie trifle. I left out the toffee candy bar ingredient, because I don't care for toffee. And instead of brewing coffee, like i said I just got a cup of it from McD's.

My best friend made one for a 4th of July party this year that was sooooo good.

She layered Angel Food cake, fresh strawberries and blueberries, cheesecake filling (she used a tub of the Philadelphia ready-to-use cheesecake filling and whipped it with some cool whip to make it more spreadable) and real, honest-to-goodness whipped cream flavored with confectioner's sugar and vanilla.

It was to DIE for.

Hmmmm, this sounds really good. I may give it a try. Can you guess how much powdered sugar and vanilla was mixed in?

Give the kids some watermelon and enjoy these
I have never had any leftovers when I make this dessert, and the men love it just as much as the women. I am sure most of the alcohol cooks off but it does smell and taste like liquor.

Chocolate Kahula Trifle
I chocolate cake baked in a 9X12 pan, cut into small bite size cubes
1 large Cool Whip
2 chocolate pudding mix (the kind you cook)
2 cups milk
2 cups Kahula
Break up the cake and layer 1/2 in a trifle bowl
make pudding 2 boxes with 2 cups milk and 2 cups Kahula. cook till thick. can be put on cake without cooling
1/2 container cool whip
repeat layers. top with chocolate shavings if desired.

(I made this one up using the above recipe. It is great in the summer)
Peach Melba Trifle
1 box angel food cake
2 box vanilla pudding mix (the kind you cook)
2 cups milk
2 cups Peach schnapps
1 package fresh or frozen rasberries
1 large container of cool whip
bake the angel food cake and break into small bite size pieces. doesn't cut well so use your fingers.
Make pudding using the 2 cups milk and 2 cups schnapps. cook till thick.
Spread 1/2 cake into pan, cover with cooked pudding then sprinkle on berries, cover with 1/2 cool whip, repeat layers. Top with canned peaches and some rasberries if desired.

Actually I usually make my whipped cream this way too. I never measure though. :rolleyes1 I use a pint of heavy whipping cream, and whip it, then when it is about halfway whipped I start adding sugar and vanilla. I think I usually just add a couple of tablespoonfulls of sugar and a teaspoonfull of vanilla, whip some more, then taste. Add more sugar or vanilla as needed.

I am bad, I almost never measure unless it is an unfamiliar recipe. :upsidedow

Oh, forgot to add.
She says she actually made up a small box of vanilla pudding and mixed that with the cheesecake filling, not coolwhip. She says she has tried it both ways but the pudding gave it more of the right texture.

Hope it turns out yummy for you! Next time we try it, we want to use fresh peaches and raspberries.
