what's in the future?

i'm thinking about saratoga(actually,i'll buy this week) but i was wondering are there any more dvc resorts in the planning stage?and what is to happen to all those members whose prop's expire in 2042-will they be given fror for their points?at what price?

Good questions that we often bat around here. No one knows for sure what DVC has planned for 2042. We also aren't sure what future DVC resorts may be expected. Plans for Eagle Pine were announced prior to SSR. At that time, they said they would someday build the resort. As first described, it will be in the Bonnett Creek Golf Club (not far from Ft. Wilderness) on the Eagle Pine golf course. It will include villas and a hotel. The "look" was along the lines of the Boca Raton Club.

At the end of a DVC contract (2042 for all except SSR), the current members turn all of their points over to Disney and receive nothing in return....except permission to discontinue the payment of maintenance fees!

The DVC timeshare is a Right to Use version which gives us the right to use our membership until the expiration date (2054 for SSR). After that time, we own nothing and Disney can re-sell the points, close the resort, "go public" with the resort, or do whatever they want.

So your residual value at the end of the contract is $0.

LOL! Actually, in 2042 I'll be 95, and not sure I will care! I will have gotten my use out of it, and even my "kids" will be retired by then, so we don't much care about the expiration date.

We will be in our mid-70's when our contract expires. Our children will be in their 30's, closing in on 40's. Hopefully, they will have their own contracts to DVC with a much later ending date, and the way I see it, rather than DH and I repurchasing we will just take a payback and use our kids points for our final years.
