June 4: The Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn will host a program at 6:30 p.m. to introduce participants to the biology and behavior of the American Horseshoe Crab. Participants will learn about the physical characteristics that have allowed these animals to successfully survive in the ocean for millions of years, their use in the medical field, and valuable ecological importance. June 11 – 15: 34nd Annual Week of Champions! A week of free sports clinics with Christian Pro Athletes in attendance this year. Clinics in football, soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf and cheerleading are conducted on Hilton Head Island at various locations. For the seventh year, Bluffton will have a football, soccer and baseball clinic held during the week at Bluffton High School. The sports banquet will be held this year at the Crowne Plaza on June 11th. Tables are available by calling Gary Wetherington at (843) 757-2150. June 13: Barrier Island Discoveries Camp – Ocean Adventures. 8 a.m.-1 p.m. With a focus on marine organisms, participants will get an up-close view of mollusks, crustaceans and other marine organisms as we explore a local beach! Campers will learn about marine invertebrates found in our coastal waters, create a take-home shell collection, and dissect a squid. Join us for this amazing ocean adventure!
