My speculation:
1. Demographics--There seem to be a lot a
DVC owners who can easily go during off-seasons; perhaps the group on average is older and without the issue of having kids in school. Summer seems to be an easy time to get even though it a busy season for WDW in general. Thus, high demand DVC time is different from regular high demand WDW time.
2. Special events--The 100 year birthday celebration of Walt Disney begins Oct 1 and runs a year. Possible member demand, particularly for the first few months of the celebration, is high.
3. Double Points--There were a huge amount of BWV sales during the last few months of sale before Dec 2000. Many buy while there. For their first DVC trip this year (and particularly if they usually go in the fall), they will have a double allotment of points; the ones they got at purchase and the ones to be issued this year. That gives them the opportunity to take longer than normal trips the first time out; in other words, for a temporary period, many of those new members are accounting for the demand of 2 members each. Even if they used magical beginnings, they have 1 1/2 allotment of points to use this year and Disney has the remainder which it will definitely use.
4. I am assuming you tried for any studio not just standard view; if standard then those generally are gone fairly quickly as they are only 20% of the rooms.
5. There are probably still a number of studios being held back. They are part of 2BR units where they are held for 2BR reservations and as time passes without 2BR reservations, some more get released.
6. BWV probably has a higher percentage than other resorts of owners who want to book only their home resort. A typical owner at BWV who bought there had the option of buying OKW and likely did not do so to assure getting BWV with the 11 month ressie window.ÃÂ
