What's for Dinner Tonight? (recipe index in OP)

I went in to Williams Sonoma on Saturday because I wanted a programmable coffee maker and I was already in the mall, and I walked out of there with one, plus a new zester with a new margarita mix.

And you fit right it! Not only do we like to cook and chit chat...alot of us have been known to enjoy a cocktail or two!

Have you tried Rosa Regale yet?

I am going to DL for the first time this OCtober ( we hope!)..i can't wait. I do not know anything about DL either...I may end up having questions for you as well! :)

My husband might agree with you. I, on the other hand, am proud that I've stepped out of my comfort zone and am trying new things. ;)

So I decided I am going to use my swordfish to make a Trinidadian dish called shark and bake. Hopefully I can get the breads to come out right--bread is not my strong suit.
 
Aimee, In La. we call chayote, mirlitons. It's shaped like an avocado, but is pale green. It's in the squash family & has a very mild squash like flavor.

I didn't know that! I have heard Emeril say that a lot of times and never knew they were the same thing. Learn something new every day! :thumbsup2

The veggie bake turned out pretty good but oh my stars did it have a lot of garlic in it. :scared1: I had roasted some last week and needed to use it so I just threw it in there.

Okay, so I thought to myself what is she making now??? ....I goggled the name and found a youtube video from the bizarre foods show.

Very interesting, let me know how it comes out. Can't go wrong with fried fish on homemade bread. He topped his with hot sauce, tamarind, and slaw...can't wait to hear what you put on yours!

I had a change of plans tonight. I just fed Luke some meatballs, chips, and grapes. His favorite things. Now, off to find me something!

Kat, I was cracking up reading the alcohol induced chat between you & Brenda this morning! :laughing: I have to figure out how to post sections of her reviews at a time to comment on them. You know the way BriarRosie does? Do you know how to do that?

Yes, see we can be educational too!!! :laughing: We also have two ways to say it down here! MER -lih-tawn or MIL-lih-ton and a lot of people call them alligator pears.

I went check out that video! That show scares me & I usually can't watch it, but that sure sounds good!

I still don't know what we're having for dinner! I was outside pulling up weeds already from the recently done landscaping, plants are croaking but the weeds are looking great!

And from the sound of DH's voice, cocktails are definitely in order tonight! So I think I'll decide on the drinks & then see if we have anything that goes with that!!! ;)
 
Well I was just getting ready to nuke some pesto I had in the freezer. But my Aunt has a computer virus emergency & DH is the geek in the family. DH is going over there to help, so we are both heading over there & will pick up Chinese or some kind of takeout!

Becky, if this meal comes out, you can't make us wait all week to see it!

This sounds so good. I went on Epicurious and found a recipe. I may just have to try this let us know what recipe you used and how it was

Marci, Ann Be careful these ladies will have you drinking cocktails with all kinds of stuff. I have 2 bottles of wine in my frig not to mention the rest in my "wine cellar"/basement.:worship:

Tonight we are having the leftover soulaki's and sauce with some wine of course.

the margarita is really easy. to get the juice, just chunk up a watermelon, and smash it with a stick blender until it is all juice.

watermelon margarita

Per drink:
2 ounces gold tequila (I used patron)
4 ounces watermelon juice
3/4 ounce couintreau
juice of 1/2 lime--nuke the lime for 30 secs in the micorwave before juicing--you'll get lots more juice that way.

shake all in a cocktail shaker with ice until very cold.

Your pic of this looked soooooo good! I gotta try it! :woohoo:
