Hello again.

Hello! Your salmon sounds good.

Kris has always said he plays referee at times on his jobs, and he always remembers to side with the spouse that holds the check book, ;)
 He is a smart man.

And from the sound of DH's voice, cocktails are definitely in order tonight! So I think I'll decide on the drinks & then see if we have anything that goes with that!!! ;)

Funny...that is how I plan my menus sometimes too! ;)

I have 2 bottles of wine in my frig not to mention the rest in my "wine cellar"/basement.:worship:

You just reminded me that I had a bottle of wine chilling in the freezer. It has been in there for more than two hours. Thanks for saving it!

Nancy -- I am sorry to hear about your aunt. Good luck with your procedure Friday.

I ended up having eggplant parmesan -- Beck gave it to me a while ago, and I froze it knowing I wasn't going to eat it right away -- it was yummy and satisfying on yet another cold day here. It's not raining though. Anyway, thanks Beck!

Tonight is Scott's monthly Geek meeting so I think I'm going to get take-out from Chili's and watch "Under the Tuscan Sun."

WFD at your house?

WFD- grilled Porterhouse steaks w/ bernaise sauce & sauteed mushrooms. Summer squash and zuchini.

 DH is home for dinner, I love Tuesdays!
Ann

Morning friends--

Late Karate, Kris has a late appt. as well, so it is take out from our local pizza joint that is between home and karate!

And you fit right it! Not only do we like to cook and chit chat...alot of us have been known to enjoy a cocktail or two!

Have you tried Rosa Regale yet?

Cheers!

Picture024.jpg

I have not tried it -- I'm getting a really long list to try! ;) My new zester does have the ability to do the curly q's and twists for dressing drinks. :rotfl:

Also on my list is the watermelon margarita. :thumbsup2

WFD: I won't decide until we see if the thunderstorms they are predicting roll in to rain out the soccer game today. Possibly omeletes.

You all have been on fire!!!!!!!!

I am really getting concerned about Gretchen, I PM'd her last week and still haven't heard from her. Hoping she's just very busy.

I think she may be buried under tax returns that need to be out this week.

I'm so sorry about your Aunt. One of the worst nights of my life was right after my Mom had spine surgery. I had sent my husband and two kids to Sea World for our annual visit, and had told my Dad I would stay on the hotel floor of the hospital for a couple of nights in case there was an emergency with Mom since I would be home by myself anyway. Well, the second night I got a call around 1 a.m. The ICU nurse was calling me down because they were concerned with the erratic way Mom was acting and they couldn't calm her down. She was convinced that someone was going to kill us both, was in turn angry at me, then concerned for my safety. I was so tired from being at the hospital so long, hadn't been sleeping etc. that I don't think I did any good. I begged, pleaded, did everything I could do convince her that I wouldn't let anyone hurt her, but nothing worked. I left ICU weeping that night, and stayed up in bed all night scared to go to sleep.

I have so much respect for you and your family, as I couldn't even handle a short episode. I'm sending PD that the doctors can find something to help, and that she has better days.

Please do not disparage yourself. There are three of us and reinforcements as well. You were alone. I cannot even imagine how that must have been. Thank you for thinking of us. I appreciate it more than i can ever say.

And you fit right it! Not only do we like to cook and chit chat...alot of us have been known to enjoy a cocktail or two!

If the Rosa comes out there is no telling where that can lead. I heard something about chocolate and magic shell .....:rolleyes1

We made chili cheese dogs and they were good.

I have been trying to cook some WW meals and you have me craving chili dogs! Nothing screams summer more to me than dogs on the grill all topped with messy fillings. Oh Yumm!

Marci If I get into a kitchen store I am in big trouble. My sister bought a panini maker and a waffle iron on steroids at Williams Sonoma and now I am afraid to step foot inside!

Laura- I hope you salvaged the wine!

Ann- My DH works late a lot during the summer and I hated it when we could not wait to eat with him. Conversation with little ones and meatballs and grapes just are not the same as a meal with your sweetie

Kat- I am almost afraid to know what you have been up to :rotfl:

Becky- Holy Mackerel-where do you come up with those fabulous meal plans :worship::worship:

Well, dinner last night was a sandwich at 12:30. I had "2nd shift" and all the poor thing did was sleep off the medication that the Dr had to give her. This morning my sister said she is her old self, but remembers all of the past two days. The psych Doc's have said that she should not have any of the meds the nursing home has been giving her and feel that even though her symptoms are not listed as a side effect of the Aricept she was taking it perhaps started the whole thing. We are hoping that the nursing facility will agree that her 1/2 mg (i think that is how the dose goes) of atavan is okay to give her. For some reason this facility does not want to give this but will administer antipsychotic drugs on a regular basis.:confused3

Anyway, Thank you for the prayers. They are what got her through this I believe. I'll let you know if she can go back there, I pray yes because with Pat working there and all of us close enough to come a lot she will feel safe.

I know I missed people, still picturing Sheryl's computer hog patching up her Aunts computer with one hand and one of her concoctions in the other :surfweb: :):)

shark and bake=yummy! Here is the fish. I did not use shark, I almost never see that for sale up here. It is swordfish, marinated overnight in spices, and then for about 15 minutes in lime juice, and more spices, then lightly floured and fried:

And here it is in the bake, with lettuce, red onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a sauce made from mango chutney, hot sauce, and mayonaisse:

It would be just as good, maybe even better, just wrapped in a tortilla, in my opinion. The bread tasted good, but it was fried of course!

drool..drool...anyway you can share that recipe..or at least the bread portion?
My italian turkey meatloaf came out quite yummy last night i must say..i was a bit nervous since i totally just guessed on measurements but it seemed to work just fine! :)

WFD tonight: something quick..probably left over meatloaf with a baked potato and salad...i have a nail appt. at 7 ( finally ..i have talons right now lol!!) so i dont' have time to make a full meal.
have a great day everyone! :)

Nancy, Not sure if you have Hebrew National Hot Dogs up there, but the one that is 94% fat free is 1 point and pretty good. If you find light rolls, they are 1 point as well.

Still praying for your aunt.

Becky, looks good!

Morning Y'all,

I had a rotten aching sleepless night, but I did enjoy reading & finished my book "The Other Boleyn Girl". And Alexis was really trying to work me, with the " My Mommy doesn't make me..., My Mommy doesn't fuss me!" stuff this morning.

Well, dinner last night was a sandwich at 12:30. I had "2nd shift" and all the poor thing did was sleep off the medication that the Dr had to give her.
I know I missed people, still picturing Sheryl's computer hog patching up her Aunts computer with one hand and one of her concoctions in the other :surfweb: :):)

Nancy, My fancy concoction ending up being a good bottle of red wine which really didn't go with the Sushi take-out order that was decided on for dinner! But it was good wine!

And my poor computer hog worked his butt off last night trying to get that virus off my aunt's computer with no success. He worked on it until 10:30. Thank goodness, He was able to get her work files recovered & backed up on his jump drive but couldn't remove the virus. She was running her business (real estate appraisal) on this computer with NO VIRUS PROTECTION PROGRAM!!! Bob said her computer didn't have a virus it had 365 viruses!!!

I know you must be so tired. , but it is a relief to hear that your Aunt's behavior was due to the medications! I would think that the nursing home would have to administer the medications ordered by her Doctors. I'm quite surprised to hear they don't want to do that. I hope it all gets worked out.

I don't know what I'm fixing for dinner. I'm tired but have errand running to do today. I'm not feeling the cooking vibe today at all!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Oh MY!!! I just saw Becky's shark & bake as I hit preview post! WOW that looks delicious! Becky that would be good with a nice soft thick flat bread or pita! And so much easier than frying bread!

Good morning everyone! After a cold, snowy day yesterday, it's nice to see the sun shining! Of course, we're supposed to get more snow tomorrow.

Becky - Your pictures look amazing, as usual!!! I've never tried swordfish. Is it really fishy? I'm not a real seafood lover, but I'll try something if it's not too fishy.

Nancy - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your aunt. I hope that the medication is worked out, and she now has more good days than bad!

Speaking of Rosa and magic shell, has anyone heard from Lori? Should I start worrying?

Dinner tonight will be Baked tilapia, steamed broccoli and brown rice. Yummy!!!

Mom and I are Croc shopping today with a stop at the library! Should be fun!

Glynis, We have not heard a peep from Lori in quite a while! :confused3 I pm'd her a while back, wondering if all was ok & didn't get a reply. I do know they moved, and she was out of an web connection a while. Then she was traveling with Rick. But it seems like it's been a few weeks since she popped in on the NOLA thread! I hope everything is okay with her too! :wizard: Ooohh, Lori....!

How long did you fry the swordfish?Ann

Maybe seven or eight minutes? I just kept checking it until it was cooked through.

drool..drool...anyway you can share that recipe..or at least the bread portion?

I'll put the bread up tonight. I have some ground turkey in my fridge. Can you share your recipe (or point me to where it is on the index if you've already posted)

Becky that would be good with a nice soft thick flat bread or pita! And so much easier than frying bread!

yes, next time I will serve it in a tortilla or some naan.

I've never tried swordfish. Is it really fishy? I'm not a real seafood lover, but I'll try something if it's not too fishy.

No, fresh swordfish is not fishy at all. It is meaty and firm, and very clean tasting. When I make it I always cut out the dark red parts, and just eat the pale parts. The skin is not edible either, FYI.

Tonight I am making a recipe that was in this month's Food and Wine magazine. It is for feta cheese in ramekins that you run under the broiler until bubbly, then top with kalamata olives, poached eggs, sage, aleppo pepper, and toasted foccacia. I am making a bitter greens salad to go with it.

Fat free or low fat hot dog, whole wheat roll, turkey chili and fat free cheese! :thumbsup2

I'll have to see if I can find them. I know that Oscar Meyer had a low fat beef hot dog that was really good but I haven't been able to find them lately.

As for dinner tonight I may just do breakfast for dinner. I have some ground turkey in the fridge that I need to do something with. I am going to try a homemade sausage recipe that I found on All Recipes.

I am going to make Lindsay's parmaesan Ritz chicken - can't remember what it's called? I haven't made it before and am excited to try it!

I'm going to serve asparagus with it. I love when it's asparagus season.

Lauren, that is the kind I try to buy because Kady can eat them. I think that they are really good.

shark and bake=yummy!

I like shark but we also do not see it too often any more. I used to buy it when I could not find swordfish. I am not sure what I was picturing when you posted but Oh My Goodness, this looks so good!

Sheryl- your little darlin thinks she knows when to try to work her 'magic" doesn't she? I am not sure when these little Princesses learn that when Nana is tired and not feeling well....that is not the best time to test boundaries ;), better to try that when Nana is spritely. Kady hasn't gotten her timing down yet either but Lord help us when these two get there :faint:

What was your Aunt thinking? My DS and my DSIL would faint if they encountered 365 viruses. I'm surprised that Bob was still breathing when he found that :scared1:

SNOW! :scared:

I miss Lori too. I thought that she said she would be offline for a while but this is a long time!

You have got to have one cool Mom! I am trying to picture my Mom wanting Crocs.....she would not have agreed. Have fun shopping and I hope you find awesome colors

My sister is the pitbull at the nursing home. The Dr at the ER said that it was fortunate that she ans my BIL understood the progression of the drug actions with her. because she would not have been so lucky. She is going to press her case with the DR at the nursing home and then I need to be there in the evening to make sure that they give them to her. Gail said that they are very annoyed with her right now and she thinks that before the day is through they are going to be downright peeved. She said that it is the shoe on the other foot becasue she has the same thing happen when they try to change meds on kids. Parents insist that they know their kids and they insist that they need to change for the child. In the end parents are very protective of their kids and often have gone down that road, as we are of my aunt.
