What's for Dinner Tonight? (recipe index in OP)

Do you use a fry daddy or just fry in your heavy pan on the stove? I love all things fried but it makes a huge mess in the kitchen because we don't have a fryer anymore so I don't do it very often.

I have a fryer, but right now it is at Beck's house, so I will use my big Le Creuset pot tonight and a deep fat thermometer. It does make a mess (although a splatter screen can help) and I don't like the way it makes my house smell, but fried fish is one of the kids' favorite meals. Due to Liam's shrimp allergy, he can't have it anywhere except home, so I deal with the inconveniences.

I'm also making onion rings. :thumbsup2

Laura, Did Liam fuss at you or Cailli for eating his Naan? Or did he just realize the need to show up on time for dinner?!;)

He asked where his naan was and I told him that Caili ate it because he wasn't home to claim it. He pouted, but he knew how mad I was, so he didn't dare make more of a stink than that. He told me later that he won't ever show up late like that again.

It was really yummy! It's 7:30 here.;)
Saddest part was running out of ice so I could only have a margarita when I was nibbling on the Pico and not with dinner.:headache: ;)

I'm little slow today, I just realized your time difference...;) Glad the fajita's came out well, but sorry you were limited on the margarita's!

Laura, You are making me want fried food fish now! Which wouldn't be bad, because DH could easily pick that up for dinner! It's a Friday during Lent in New Orleans, fried seafood is on practically every corner!

Liam's allergies must make dining out, pretty hard. Dining in too. You probably can't even buy any pre-packaged fish products either? Liam's lucky to have you for a Mom! He can have his fish & eat it too!:thumbsup2

Well, that is a really good son you have there! If he can come back that soon & tell you he won't show up late, you are definitely doing something right!!!:goodvibes

Kathy--that recipe looks very good--will have to try it

Laura--Yum on the fried fish, but even more so the onion rings

Well, the big news here is that our Walmart supercenter opened today. Now for most of you big town folks that might not sound like a big deal, but we've been living with one small grocery store for 16,000 people for the past 6 months. Anyway, this is a new prototype store and pretty neat inside. So I picked up some yummy bakery items and, of course, pizza b/c it's Friday night.

Just as an aside, I mentioned a while back that my dsis was in the middle of a divorce. Well, her soon to be x is being, well, I can't say what I want to--but lets just say he's not being very nice. He's threatening to call DHS, have her seen as an unfit mother. She's been living with some friends for a few months but has decided to take us up on the offer to live with us until she can get back on her feet. It will be a challenge, all of us under one roof. But she needs the family support, and I dare her x to call DHS on me!

Okay, gonna try to catch a quick nap--I've been painting again; cannot live with builder's beige anymore, and I"m zapped!

Hi All! I hope that everyone is okay with the heavy weather all over the country. Poor Aimee , I would be beside myself.

Laura- I got a chuckle from Liam's late meal. Leave it to a sister to know exactly how to turn a late arrival into a learning opportunity....and to put on over on a brother :thumbsup2 Marisa would be proud ;)

Becky- first your husband a true WFD convert, then will your Dad see the light? :upsidedow Just kidding :)

All this talk of fried fish, now I want it. I have to go to my Aunts tonight so I will play it by ear. Maybe just get fish sandwiches or something. Buddy may go for the ride with me and visit his cousin.

The Mass is tomorrow and we will have pastry and coffee after. The girls will come over here later on, I picked up some nice deli meats and cheeses, fresh rolls and sandwich stuffings along with some things for a relish tray. I was going to make Becky's spicy slaw but his cousin will bring some salads. I also have an assortment of fruit for a tray and will make a dip for it. Cookies if anyone want them. I don't want to sabotage the girls, they are doing so well that I avoided making finger sandwiches, they just are way too many points.

This has been a long week, family who have not spoken to any of them are crawling out of the woodwork so tomorrow will probably be even harder. I know that even when it is all over it will not be over but at least the stress of dealing with people who have not bothered with them in years will stop. Thank you all for your well wishes, I appreciate them more than you know.

mmm that does sound good! i think i will have to make my turkey meatloaf next week some night..i have a aton o' frozen ground turkey to use up. What do you glaze yours with?

What I make for a meatloaf glaze is super easy.........

1/2 cup ketchup
2tbs of yellow mustard
2tbs of brown sugar
a couple of dashes of worstershire sauce
mix together and spread over meatloaf b4 cooking

Nancy--

Kat--I figured that you might start to wonder where I was...that is why I posted before bed.....I wasn't sure if I would get on here today.

Supper tonight is leftover meatloaf with noodles and cukes.....Kris is working late, and Ross loves my meatloaf even more the next day.....EASY!!

Here is the fajita marinade. As I wrote before, I cut the meat into strips first before marinading.

That sounds really good!

Not sure what's for dinner. I'm feeling funky.

Take it easy my friend, hope you feel better soon!

I'll bet your town is very excited about the new WalMart!!!

You're a very special sister Stephanie, you will be blessed for helping your sister this way.:goodvibes

Me too....now I'm going to do the shrimp tomorrow. Our parish church's fish fry just might be perfect for tonight.

My boy doesn't do leftovers unless it's tacos, burgers or pizza.:rolleyes1

Thought for sure Kyle's baseball game would be canceled this afternoon because of all the rain we had last night and this morning but no.......we're playing and it's cold and windy outside.:cold:

Stephanie, Glad to hear you have a new superstore for shopping! You're going to need it with the larger household!! You're a good sister!:goodvibes

Lucas, I want to come to your house for dinner!

Kathy, Sounds like Mom should stay home, to have some nice hot chocolate ready for the boys when they come in from the cold!

Kath, I have an appt with the rheumatologist in a few weeks. I've heard there is a new med out to treat fibromyalgia, I'm hoping that's his suggestion. Last time I saw him, he wanted me so doped up on muscle relaxers, I wasn't able to function.

Sheryl - I decided to do just that, stay home. I haven't been feeling that great today, kinda achy & scratchy throat. I thought the game was at Shaw but it's in Sorrento. I'm not up to driving an hour to sit outside and freeze. I hate missing his games but this is just the beginning of the season, there are many, many more.:guilty:

Sorry your feeling under the weather too! You really should stay out of that icky weather.

Are they going to have Kyle pitch today?

So many baseball games and so little perfect baseball weather! Next game you'll likely be sweating your tush off!

He just called and the game is canceled, he was scheduled to pitch, so now he gets another days rest, works out good!

Good! Everyone gets to stay home, warm & cozy. Enjoying a great dinner!!!:goodvibes

DH went out for lunch & had a shrimp/pasta thing, so we won't be having that. I have homemade pizza dough in the freezer, but it's probably too late to take that out now. Oh darn, I guess I'll be forced to ask DH to pick up some fried seafood! ;)

All this talk of fried fish has me craving some fried catfish, maybe I'll send Johnny to Adams Catfish House and I'll do the shrimp tomorrow.

Yum...fried fish! I want some!

John emailed me and said he just wants cheese, bread, and wine for dinner. I can manage that!

Kathy, I hope you are feeling better soon.

Nancy, I am thinking of you.

I decided what's for dinner.

Skinny grande cinnamon dolce latte, salted almonds, and a chocolate scone. All courtesy of Starbucks.

I'm taking it on the plane with me - which, btw, just pulled up to the gate! It looks like I may actually get home!!!!!!!!!

Well there has been a dinner change here....(I forgot about Lent & we try not to eat meat on Friday).

So tomorrow will be the steaks, home made sweet potato fries and artichoke salad.
Tonight......shrimp fajitas.
