I have another meeting tonight, I have no idea what I'll eat. I guess I'll run get fast food beforehand.

I fly out in the morning for Atlanta.

During my early years I did bookkeeping for a living.

I would rather chew glass!

(Are those wine bottles you are lining up? In my experience, it is better to do accounting before drinking. ;) )

I Liam recently decided that he likes green beans (as long as they are the French green beans, haricots vertes. That's my boy! ;) ) so I might make those too.

I have red wine and some flavored brandy lined up. You know, because it is so cold this time of year :lmao:

I'm with Liam, Haricots vertes or nothing! I cooked regular cut green beans the other day and they just are not the same.

I'm with you Nancy. Really I am. On top of my regular job, I'm trying to get the info together for the year-ends for my Dad's company as well as Kenny's. And both of them are driving me crazy. I hate this time of year. I really do.

Yes, but it's certainly more fun to do the drinking first. And in my case, it might keep me from killing my husband who insists on watching over my shoulder and asking tons of questions while I'm working.
You have had a lot lately and this is not helping is it? I agree with not killing a husband by drinking. My DH cannot understand why it is not available at the blink of an eye! Did he just meet me????????? Last night I just turned around, poured a little glass of brandy and he asked my what did he say:headache:!!!!!!! Are you kidding me....after the day I had?????? Did he want to try just one day doing my job?????? By then he could not hide fast enough

Does anyone buy from Schwan's?

I used to buy their ice creams and novelties. They don't come around here anymore. We had like five different sales men in five months.

Good luck! I'm thinking of you!

Thanks princessaC!

Sheryl, no I do not make my dough from scratch. I buy it at my grocery store for $1.29/piece. Sometimes, if I have time, I stop at the Bertuccis on the way to my train and buy a piece of dough from them. Theirs is only 99 cents and it’s already stretched out and relaxed for you, so it is very easy to shape. I don’t often have time to stop there though, so usually my pizza dough is just from the store. (Maybe that’s why my pizzas are always such funny shapes!) I do like to buy it a while before I am going to use it so that it ages a bit. I think that makes it taste better. I wish I could make it from scratch but that is one area I need to work on--anything involving dough or crust from scratch is usually a bust for me.

Lindsay, sorry you are feeling bummed out. I hope you cheer up soon.

Safe travels, Aimee.

Tonight we are having leftover chicken noodle soup.

WFD at your house?

ETA: Please pray for me, those of you who do. If you don't, pet on your dog or cat and think of me. I'm just in a real funk right now and I can't seem to shake it. It's really bringing me down.

You have my prayers, Lindsay. Anything else I can do? I certainly understand the funk. I've been having one of my own lately. I'm hoping that it will go away as the days get longer and as Spring comes.

I have the next two nights off from cooking dinner!!!! DH is working both jobs so DS & I will be having dinner at my Dparents.

I love banana bread!!!! So yummy right out of the oven with some cream cheese spread on it! Mmm, guess what I'm craving, now?

I will check my records, but I know I have:
Braised Pork Chops - Lauren
Mexican Stuffed Shells - Kathy
Velvet Shrimp - Kathy
Chris Daigle's Jambalya - Lori
Hamburg gravy - Wendie

Also, obviously I have all the ones I posted.

Tonight's dinner is Lauren's pork chops.

Would you mind PM'ing me all these recipes? I'd love to have them! I know I tried the velvet shrimp and loved it! I have no idea what I did with that recipe, but it's not with the other WFD recipes I copied and pasted. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Dinner tonight will be a new recipe. I found this in a magazine and it sounded good. It's Broiled Greek Tilapia. I'll let y'all know in the morning whether it is good or not.

DH and I are going to the high school tonight to see our niece in Hamlet. It should be an interesting night.

First of all, I love this thread. I found all this recipes last week before they took it away for a while. Can someone who made this crockpot italian chicken help me (cream cheese, italian dressing mix, etc.) I decided to make it today and thought I remembered the ingredients in my head, but i just realized i had forgotten the white wine. It's been cooking since 11 (2:15 now) and I added the wine. Now I'm wondering if I should have done that since it's been several hours since the rest of the mixture has been in there. Will it have time to cook into the rest of the mixture? Won't be eating til 6ish (another 4 hours)? Thanks. Just wanna know if I can plan on this or need to make other plans. Thanks a lot!

Well, I was going to try a new recipe tonight, but DH emailed me and said he has a business dinner tonight. No way am I going to slave away in the kitchen if it's just gonna be me eating. So it will probably be mac and cheese and chicken nuggets. I did make a recipe out of Jessica Seinfeld's Deceptively Delicious today. It's a brownie recipe using carrot and spinach puree. Haven't tasted them yet. Supposedly if you let them cool completely the veggie taste disappears--I'm a tad skeptical--but if it gets my kids to eat spinach:banana:

Lindsay--PD and hugs that your funk goes away soon. I always get in a mood around this time of year. the middle of January seems like such a let down after the past couple of months. Guess that's why I always have a vacation planned--something to look forward too

It was me :) It should be fine. I looooooooooooove this dish!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It smells great! I just love "real people" recipes!

And don't you love how easy it was to throw together? If you like the dish, you will be making it a zillion times! :)

OK so I think I'm making some sort of chicken casserole tonight. I have left over broccoli and chicken and carrots etc. so it's all going in with some cream of chicken soup and chicken broth and I'm cooking it up. We'll see how it goes. I guess thats the northerner in me! put whatever is in the house in a baking dish and cook! Then I'm off for 5 days of no cooking! Hope the hub can find some food while I'm gone! :lmao:

Hi Y'all! (I am often a reader, seldom a poster)

I hope someone here can help me with something.

I made a recipe tonight that called for a small amount of Chipotle Pepper Puree, so I got a can of the peppers in the adobe sauce. I diced them to a puree and mixed in some of the adobe sauce and added it to the dish I was making. (It turned out wonderful by the way!)

My question is what do I do with all of the leftover adobe peppers in the sauce? :confused3 I put them in a small Tupperware bowl and have it in the refrigerator at the moment. But I don’t want them to go to waste. I mean I only used maybe a tablespoon out of the whole can! Any idea on how long they will last in there? Should I freeze them? I hate to be wasteful!

Here is the recipe I made in case anyone would be interested. I am serving it tonight with pork chops and some sort of green veggie that I haven’t decided yet, but it will probably be mustard greens (I know that sounds yucky to most people, but we are from the south... what can I say?).

Mesa Grills Southwestern Potato Salad
Recipe by Bobby Flay

1 1/2 cups prepared mayonnaise
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons chipotle pepper puree
1 large ripe tomato, seeded and diced
1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves
3 scallions, chopped, white and green parts
1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
16 new potatoes, about 3 to 4 pounds, cooked, drained and sliced 1/2-inch thick

Combine all the ingredients, except the potatoes, in a medium bowl and season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Place warm potatoes in a large bowl and pour the mixture over potatoes and mix well.

Season again with salt and pepper, to taste.

(I halved the recipe, it's just me and DH at home these days, there will be plenty of leftovers.)

TXTink I don't see any reason why you couldn't freeze the leftover chipotles.

We are having Jambalaya per ALex's request. I think you all are making hime southern. ;) it's so funny because when I was pregnant with him I couldn't get enough spicy food, but he drew the line on Jambalaya. I would pay dearly when I ate it.

Tonight is going to be pizza out. DH gave me the go ahead to take the kids out. He said he couldn't be a hypocrite and have dinner out but tell me I had to eat at home. Gotta love logic!:thumbsup2

Thanks Hersey! I am thinking so too!

I think I will dice the peppers and put them, with the adobe sauce, in an ice cube tray in tablespoon portions and freeze them, then take them out after they are solid and put them in a freezer bag... (I am putting too much thought into this! All that work to save a little $$! Silly! :upsidedow I must be board!)

I love banana bread!!!! So yummy right out of the oven with some cream cheese spread on it! Mmm, guess what I'm craving, now?

Cream cheese is the only way to eat it ;) ...DH think's it is crazy, he is just a plain butter man !
