Sandy, Oh now I'm jealous! That you live close enough to the beach to go for a day! That's cool!

Sandy, I have grouper in the freezer. Do you have any good Floridian recipes for grouper?
DH's parents still live up north and wonder why we don't go to the beach more often. The closest beach is about 20 minutes away, 5 minutes from my mom's house. We really should take advantage of it more often.

I love grouper, I get it at restaurants all the time, but I've never actually cooked it myself. sorry

Anyone going to watch Danny Boome on Rescue Chef tomorrow? :lovestruc He's a cutie and I love that accent.

Kathy, I never saw those threads before!!! OMG, so many disney recipes in one place! Thanks!

You're welcome!:goodvibes

But not one anywhere for Brown Derby's pan fried grouper!!!!

I think I'm going to try to recreate that dish for dinner tonight. It's been a couple of years since I had it & was before my food picture taking days. I hunted & hunted & did find one pic of it on the net, but no recipe. It was pan fried and served over roasted asparagus with a sweet onion marmalade & lemon butter sauce! I'm just not sure what to use to coat the fish. Corn meal, bread crumbs, panko bread crumbs.... I'll come up with something.

Last night's lemon spaghetti and chicken was a hit! I was afraid the red pepper would turn my kids off, but not one of them even mentioned it!!!

Tonight is the Smokin' Macaroni and Cheese from early on on this thread! DH is out of town, and I know the kids will eat Mac and Cheese from a box. It will be interesting to see if they'll eat it knowing Mom made it without the boxes help.

Hi All!

Just stopping in while I feast on my PB&J on toast :rotfl:I am trying to clean and wash and put out the Easter decorations before I make DH dinner. He is getting a version of tuna noodle casserole and I will bring some to my Aunt for dinner. I have no idea if she will eat it, she is getting funny dinner ideas and no one can figure them out, but I know she used to like it.

I want to get out of there early so I can joint the girls at a movie "The Other Boleyn Girl" and maybe have time to pick up some Spring garlands at Michaels. I am on a fish sandwich thing so I want one from Wendie's. By the time lent is over I will have had way too many fish sandwiches from way too many places, but God I love fast food! :rotfl:

I stopped in to see buddy's Aunt today and she is doing better. The Dr removed the slings and she can move a little. She is still very vulnerable but her spirit is much better. Thank you for all of your prayers!

Aimee- Enjoy your evening out, you deserve a break!

Sheryl- I love grouper!
Kathy- Sure, post that thread and now I am craving all things Disney!!!!!!

Sandy- My DS and DDIL lived about 10 minutes from the beach and the first year they went almost every night. After that I be I could count on one hand. I always asked why and they used to laugh. I guess just knowing it was there was enough

I know that I missed a lot but if I stay here I will never iron the tablecloth or finish picking up and then DH will be stuck with PB&J instead of the killer food I have planned for him :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I really appreciated him doing that, as parking for him (with his side ramp) is always tough. Of course when he got there, the handicap spot had one car taking up two spots & blocking the ramp. He had to call the restaurant & with the language barrier had quite a hard time getting them to understand that he needed the order brought out to the car. He was pretty upset by that point & when the guy came out to the car, he found out that the car blocking the ramp, was a lady in the nail salon next to the restaurant. He was getting ready to pull out, when he noticed the phone number of the salon was on the door. He called them & asked the owner to put the person on the phone! She did & he really gave that lady a piece of his mind! I think he was even more upset after that, because all she said was "uh-uh, okay" and then hung up. He didn't yell or be rude, just told her that she had blocked the ramp & caused him a great deal of difficulty. Some people.:sad2:

I hate people that do this. He did the right thing to let her know what she dod was totally wrong. Some people have no conscience (sp). I hope she breaks all her freakin nails.

I finally have a totally free weekend, no science fairs, birthday parties, or long distance traveling. Maybe DS and I will go to the beach tomorrow. :beach:

Oh, I am so jealous. Have a wonderful time. Janice and the Northern girls may want to crash your beach going. :)

I know Becky has seen this, but thought the rest of y'all might be interested:

Can she lie down now?

Sheryl - Why not put a "Cajun" twist on the grouper, I'll bet we could find a good recipe between the two of us!

Nancy, Glad to hear Buddy's Aunt is doing a bit better.

Oh, now that would be PERFECT! You NOLA girls really know how to kick things up!!!! Yummy!

Be careful with that! My DH is already threatening to leave me if Sheryl can really cook like his hero Justin Wilson :rotfl: Between the lure of all that Cajun food and the tomatoes he keeps hearing about he'll be camped out on your front porch, whining about potato chicken and capers and looking so darn hungry that you will have no choice but to drag his sad self into your kitchen! :lmao:

Kathy- she really cannot lie down yet but because it is uncomfortable. The Dr said she can if she wants to.

Sheryl- I don't blame Bob for being frustrated about the parking. I just don't get people. After my FIL passed on my SIL an MIL used to use his parking permit  I refused to get in the car with them while it was there, my Donny who very seldom says much told them both he was ashamed that they would even think about using it, never mind actually doing it.

I picked it up fresh from Dorignac's a few weeks back, but something came up & I didn't get to fix it, so I threw it in the freezer. It's thinner filets though, not thick like I've had in restaurants.

Well we know Buddy is going to love that tuna! ;) Enjoy the movie, that's one I'd love to see! Maybe this weekend..

Glad to hear his Aunt is doing better! More prayers for her.

Lauren, even us Southern girls want in on the beach party!

Kathy, You know I hardly cook anything without adding a Bob's seasoning blend (remember, he calls it his Cajun Dust) We had to go on a hunt for the seafood seasoning he had used in it, it was from Capt. Larry's down in Belle Chasse! As you know, Capt. Larry's "ain't dere no more". Bob's brother still had a gallon size container of it & gave us half with the promise of getting more of the blend. But I don't know what we are going to use once it's all gone.

I sure wish I could remember what kind of coating was on that grouper at the Brown Derby! It was really light & crispy, which makes me think it might have been panko bread crumbs. But you can usually see the flakes when you use them, so I thinking it might have been just a light corn meal batter. :confused3

I can't believe people do that. That person had a permit too, who knows if it was legit. But it sure didn't give her the right to take up two spots & park on the ramp!

Kathy, Thanks that sounds great! I think I'll do that. Then I won't have to go all over trying to find decent asparagus!

Always! Sandy better watch out. We may all wind up on her door step this weekend.

Or as Wendie might say "Door Yard"!

Tonight we are going to the movie grill to see Be Kind Rewind. It's probably a dud of a movie but DH wants to see it and I need something funny to watch.

Aimee -- I hope you have a great time tonight. That movie got a good review here, and it sounds like it will be exactly what you need to take your mind off work.

Janice -- I hope you and Alex feel better soon.

Sandy -- We are supposed to get six inches of snow tomorrow. I am definitely envious of your beach date.

Nancy -- Enjoy the movie. I didn't read the review of it this morning, but the title sounds interesting.

Sheryl -- At Caili's last skating competition, all these cars without permits parked in the handicapped spots. I don't get people like that. To the rink's credit, they made one announcement about the vehicles and then towed anyone who didn't move.

I am trying something new tonight. I am making homemade naan (this already has several things going against it, not the least of which is that I had to abandon the kneading to go pick up the kids from school), and Becky's vindaloo sauce which I am using as the base for mutter paneer. We'll see how it goes. I'll take pics.

I didn't even attempt to photograph the pot roast last night. It may not have been pretty, but it sure tasted good. I will always make my pot roast in the slow cooker from now on.
