What's everyone's favourite DVC resort at WDW?

1) BCV
a close 2) BWV

a solid 3) OKW

4) VWL

A very distant 5) SSR - Just not to my liking

I love them all in reality (actually haven't stayed at BCV or SSR but I suspect they are very nice).
For us though, our "home" resort, OKW edges the others out because of the larger size of the villas as well as the balcony/patio, parking right outside our door and the beauty and serenity of the resort. We love the water views !
As far as parks go, it really doesn't matter which one we're visiting, the OKW busses seems to get us there pretty quickly. We stayed at BWV in '03, and we had a great time. While it was nice to be able to walk to Epcot it wasn't a major perk for us as we pretty much split our stay among the 4 main parks as well as the water parks that visit.
We definitely bought where we enjoy staying the most, but all this discussion about how difficult it's going to be to trade into non-home DVC resorts at the 7 month window in the near future is quite a bummer. We considered the ability to switch around if we'd like a very nice perk.

BCV is my favorite.
We also like VWL.
SSR was nice.
VB is also very nice!
Those are the ones we've been to. :)

If we're taking a bunch of other folks with us, we like to be able to share our DVC experience with other family members, then it's BWV. We like all the other activites that are available on the Boardwalk.

If it's just DW and myself or maybe one other couple, then it's OKW, we like the large rooms and the nice quiet atmosphere.

I just did BCV last week and we really weren't that impressed. Everone talks about the long halls at BWV but BCV, while not all in side with long halls, has rooms that are just as long if not longer from the lobby. Go from the lobby to room 477 (which is what we had) and it's one heck of a long walk. I also didn't like that we walked through the main lobby when going from SAB back to the rooms vs BWV where you miss the lobby. Don't know, just felt a little 'strange' walking through the lobby in wet swim suits.

We'd like to try WLV one time, especially around the Christmas holidays since I think that resort has the best decorations then.

SSR, we've visited there twice since they've open and right now we think we'll take a pass. Maybe it's all the construction going on and that the vegatation is still new but DW and myself weren't that impressed.

Just my two cents.

1. SSR Quiet and peacful. Love the DTD view and quiet pool!
2. WLV Love the theme
3. BWV Love the location

Going to BCV and OKW later this year. I am looking forward to trying them!

I recently read a similiar thread on another Disney related internet board, that you posted to. The post in response to yours-- on that board, had some very valid points. It stated that really all the DVC villas are not anything like hotel rooms. The closest DVC villa to that would be the OKW studio. The more hotel feel between the resorts is in the hallways, elevators and amenities. Not in the feel of the DVC villa, where you are living for the length of your trip!
If there are Disney hotel rooms that can compete with the "hotel DVC villas", I wish somebody would tell us about them!!!!! They would be great rooms to get with an AP discount, which is most often lower than a DVC discount; for a nice long weekend getaway! :cool1:
Dee, is that you?!?!?

No, sorry you have the wrong person. But I do agree with some of the points that poster made on the other Disney related discussion board. Mostly, that I also think none of the DVC villas are like hotel rooms. OKW's studio is the only one that is the closest to a hotel room because of the room set up. I do agree that the hallways, parking and resort amenitites are like a hotel set up at BCV, VLV and BWV, but not the villas. All the 1 br and larger DVC villas are set up like condos with OKW having larger rooms.

And this is why some prefer one type over the other. As nice as all the DVC resorts are, I personally don't want my "disney home" to be like a hotel. I'm in the group that prefers more of a villa/neighborhood/community setting. But I know many others prefer the hotel setting....something for everyone with DVC :cool1:

I agree that the beauty of DVC is there is something for everyone. I too like the vacation home feel of OKW the best as opposed to the hotel feel of the others. When we stayed at SSR, I thought it was actually somewhere between.
I guess I forgot to list mine in order of preference
1. OKW
2. SSR
3. VWL
4. BWV
I have not stayed at BCV yet.

We love BCV (our home resort)! SAB is great, as is location to Epcot! VWL though is a close 2nd! We go twice a year and rotate! To us, that is the beauty of DVC! VWL in March,HHI in July, and BCV in Sept! How perfect is that!!!

ITA. This is true in most peoples choice of travel accomendations, whether they are going to WDW or not. For example, some people find an inside cabin on a cruise ship is perfect for them, while another family would never even consider anything but a verandah cabin. Some families prefer to rent a whole house complete with a pool which is located within 15-20 minutes of WDW gates (which, if we are honest is many times the wait for a WDW bus); yet many would not even consider staying off WDW property. Some people consider DVC villas nice, but not worth the financial investment and commitment and prefer to stay conceirge or suites when at WDW. Many people want the total hotel service, convenience, and believe it or not-- the atmosphere; at whichever resort they are staying at, whether it be in WDW or not; or DVC resort or not. And some do not.
Again, ITA, a perfect "vacation home", means different things to different people. That is what is so great, not only about DVC, but with the whole Disney resort/theme park mission. They are very compeititve with keeping up with the local competition in attracting all age and demographic groups. For the most part, I think they do a fine job!
