Hey everybody. It's been awhile since I visited the boards. I'm planning on going to Disney around the first week of August this year. :woohoo: I've been in April, June and July but never August. What's it like, weather-wise? I imagine it'll be hot, but just how hot? What about hurricane season? Do they see a lot of them in August? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! :hippie:

It's hot hot hot!! Very humid. The temperatures are very high. Often in the 90's. There's usually a daily rain shower at 4pm. We only ever go in August. The hurricane season doesn't tend to start until late August/September.
We'll be there August 1st!

Hi there. :wave2:

We visited last year from July 30th to August 20th.

The weather was very very hot but coming from the United Kingdom we were happy for a bit of heat!!

Crowd levels were high but not unbearable. We didnt experience any hurricanes but we had a downpour nearly every day which lasted about half an hour. But to be honest, it was great for cooling us down.

We are visiting again this year but we have decided to go in September as the weather is practically the same as August but the crowds are a lot lower. :cloud9:

I hope i have been of some help. :goodvibes

August is humid humid hot. And expect thunder boomers every afternoon but not for long periods of time. Really it's ok... we go around the end of August every year (of course we are Floridians and already know the weather) but in the sense of Disney in August, it's not THAT bad. The crowds lessen a wee bit toward the end of August.... still a little crowded but not as bad. I would choose August over June or July in Disney. Whenever you go, hey it's Disney World.... so you WILL have fun!

HOT HUMID HOT HUMID HOT HUMID HOT HUMID HOT HUMID HOT HUMID HOT HUMID, but you will be in Disney!!!!

Not much more to add than what others have said here, YES, it is very hot and humid. We have gone 2 times at the end of August and the crowds do lessen a bit by then but the hours shorten at the parks. We have always, however, had a wonderful time. I just do not think I would ever recommend anyone go to WDW for their first time in the summer months, unless of course, that was the only time one had to go, but since you have been other times, I think you will do just fine. This year we are going for the 4th of July and expect the same in heat and humidity, but more, of course, in crowds. I wish we could go end of August instead, but ds is starting High school and will have to be back the last week of August for orientation.

Good Luck with what ever you decide and if you can go the end of August, that would be the best as far as crowds, but of course there is a chance of hurricanes at that time of year. Good Luck and have fun planning!! :sunny:

Sorry, I just reread and saw you said you are aiming for the first week of August so it wil probably be about the same as when you went in July as far as heat and crowds. Sorry, I need to be more careful reading!!

Just wanted to mention that if you go anytime between May and November it's a possibility to get caught in a Hurricane. If you worry too much about it you would never go to FL anytime but winter :) Just go and have a good time. Take lots of breaks, drink lots of liquids, eat an icecream or 4 ;) and enjoy your trip
If you are really worried about the hurricanes, just make sure to get travel insurance :) And yes, most of the time it will rain sometimes between 2 and 4....
except the day you go to a water park.. then it will rain all day (j/k) but if it does, if you are in the water park for less than 3 hours and they can't reopen because the storm isnt going away, you can get a raincheck and they give you a ticket that doesn't expire so that you can get into the water park next time.

You'll have a great time :)

We've gone in February, April, May, June & November. Each time of the year has it's good & bad points...just go when you can & enjoy it!!!

I love going in August! We went last year in August and are going this year in August too! Of course it's hot, but you get used to it and the crowds are TOTALLY bearable!
