What's a "Quick Service Meal"

The idea for quick service is "good food, fast"...an example is Tusker House in AK. They have things like salmon, chicken and vegetables, fruit, wraps, etc. More healthy type foods that are good for you - in other words, NOT burgers and fries. But, it is as quick as a counter service.

But if you wanted to you could also get burgers and fries, so basically any counter service. Since your staying at GF, Gasparilla Grill and Games and get a quick service meal. You can check out the menu at allearsnet under menus

The easiest way I have described this to others I know planning is:
like Burger King, KFC, McDonalds, Wendys, etc. You can go up to a "fast food" window and order a combo meal - sandwich, fries, drink, and dessert. Table service - you are in a sit down restaurant.

that really helps. thanks again :)

does anyone have any good suggestions for these quickies, or are they all pretty much the same? I see the menus vary, but is there a counter we need to be sure to hit?

Depends on your what your looking for - I looked at the menus on allearsnet.com and was able to pick out some meals by what my family would eat as well as value. Some places have a burger bar - toppings - they give you a basic burger and you add things (lettuce, tomatoe, sauteed onions/mushrooms etc.) onto your own vs. just be served with basic ketchup, mustard, cheese. Another thing we are trying to do is share some meals so we can save up some of the CS for breakfast so I checked out sizes of meals too. MK Cosmic Rays has a meal with 1/2 chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, and vegetable - and thats 1 meal that would definitely feed 2 of us so we figure get 2 meals and we (me, dh, dd3m & ds4) would all share and that will save 2 meals for another time. So if you play around with meal times and what exactly you pick it should stretch to cover pretty much everything you eat (except those darn Root Beer floats my husband keeps asking me about :)
Once I booked the dining plan I went through all the menus and eliminated places my family would not find something they liked. Then I narrowed it down more by picking restaurants that were in the same park we planned on being in - you don't want to have to run to Epcot from MK to just go to dinner! Then I called and made Priority Seatings for my sit down meals - I printed out the menu and wrote my confirmation # on the menu and in my planner. This way we can look at the menu before we actually are seated in the restaurant. I have a grid with days on top and sit down meals listed on each day. ie: So I know on 10/4 we have a character breakfast planned/booked and that night we will have a CS for supper. Snacks and counter service open to whenever we are hungry and don't have a sit down meal planned.

AK: We love Tusker House. They have a really good chicken salad. The chicken sandwich is great. The desserts there a good too.

Epcot: Lots of good choices here, but we really like the Tangerine Cafe in Morocco.

MK: Columbia Harbour House has really good fish.
