What's a good book series for 10 year olds? Boy and Girl

My DD10 is really enjoying the Deltora Quest series by Emily Rodda. It seems like it would appeal to boys as well.

Another popular children's author is Dan Gutman. My child loves baseball and recently thoroughly enjoyed a series about a boy who travels through time using baseball cards. He gets to meet players such as Babe Ruth, Satchel Paige, and more. He learned a lot of history too. Titles include: Babe and Me, Satch and Me, Mickey and Me, Honus and Me (you get the idea). Dan Gutman also writes another popular series with rhyming titles like Miss Coco is Loco and more that are also popular.

Some books my dd10 and ds 11 like: Artemis Fowl, Alex Rider series, Children of the Lamp, City of Ember, Nancy Drew, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Eragon.

These books are great! My son loves to read and these books really sparked his interest in Mythology-just think really old super heroes. Kingdom Keepers I and II are really good too. John Feinstein has a great book called "The Final Shot". It is a mystery about the Final Four and my son enjoyed that one. ALSO, don't forget the Jack Sparrow books for boys. Although the reading level is not very challenging, they are a fun read, especially the beginning ones.

From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg.

From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg and Harriet the Spy were two favorites growing up. Not to mention Judy Blume! (that might not be popular for boys lol)

:flower3:

Jerry Spinelli is really good.

I would steer away from Love Stargirl and Eggs (those are more high school)

The Hank Zapzer series by Henry Winkler (Yes, that Henry Winkler!)

American Chillers by Jonathan Rand - these are a little scary but my DS loves them and we have met the author a couple of times. He is from right here in Michigan and a really nice guy.

Michigan Chillers by Jonathan Rand

Jack Sparrow books - a series of books about Jack Sparrow as a kid.

I'd also like to suggest some classics like Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys! These are great books that in my opinion never go out of style!!

The Hank Zapzer series by Henry Winkler (Yes, that Henry Winkler!)

Just FYI that its Hank Zipzer. My DS loves the books too. Also, if you are Christian, there are the Wally McDoogle books. They have titles like 'My life as a smashed burrito with extra hot sauce' & 'My life as a cowboy cowpie'. They're pretty funny & an easy read.
There's also a new series coming out called 'The 39 Clues'. Each book will be written by a different childrens book writer. The first book is already out & the second will be out mid-December. There are also card packs & an on-line game.
Also, in no particular order:

-Young James Bond series (the first book is called 'Silverfin')
-The Day my Butt Went Psycho series (Zombie Butts from Uranus & Butt Wars are the other two books) As you can imagine there's lots of body humor but they're pretty funny.
-The Babymouse series. Cartoon books for girls.
-Ditto on the Barry/Pierson Peter Pan series.

You could also look into anime series. My DS loves 'One-Piece', 'Bleach', 'Hikaru No Go' & 'Naruto'. Keep in mind that there's probably going to be some violence & tobacco use but my DS loves, loves, loves them.

My DS loved reading the "Series of Unforntionate Events".
There are 13 in the series.
He now is 12 and is enjoying the InkHeart collection of
3 books: Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath. He's on Inkdeath.
There is a Movie coming soon to the Theaters for "InkHeart".

My 9 soon to be 10 year old boy likes the Beast Quest series by Adam Blade (scholastic books publish them). He and several friends are now into collecting the series and anxiously awaiting the next one

My DS loved the Redwall series by Brian Jacques.

Also, Beverly Cleary -- Henry and Rigsby, Mouse and the Motorcycle, etc. were popular with him at that age as well.

The "Hank the Cowdog" series is awesome! :thumbsup2 My DS loved it! I know from experience that a boy would really love it, but I know as a child that loved books and reading, I would have even loved it being a girl! :goodvibes There was a time our DS was home sick for a few days (missing school) and over that course of time, I read a complete "HTC" book to him, and I myself really enjoyed it! :)

Both the boys and girls in my DD's 4th grade class are into "Animorphs" books right now. They seemed more like boy books to me, but the girls love them too!!

There is also a new book out called "39 Clues", that is supposed to have clues in each book and then as new books are published, they have to read the books to get more clues and eventually figure out the puzzle. I think it has some on-line element to it as well. I am not sure exactly how it works but it was a book being highlighted for 4-5 graders for the Scholastic Book Fair, it sounded kind of interesting.

DD loves this book! She is not into the traditional girl type books so it may be good for DS also.

DD also enjoys the Dear America series. They are historical fiction. Some of the topics are a little too serious/realistic for me for a 10 year old but she loves them and it gets her to read. She started reading them at the beginning of 3rd grade but I believe they are a 5th grade+ level.

Forgot to mention DD loves all of the Roald Dahl books...

The Twits, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, The Witches and The BFG.

They are a pretty easy read for her but she could not put them down.

For girls....The Frog Princess series by E.D. Baker.

My DD8 also loves the Dear America series that a PP mentioned.

I really enjoyed reading the Trixie Belden series when I was about 10 or 11.
