Since I'm on kinda a food thing today...

I was going to make BLTs for dinner out of the last of the summer tomatoes...BUT it's turning off cold so I think I'll make chili (red w/beans) instead. I'll chop up the tomatoes and use for a garnish with shredded cheddar cheese. I'll probably do cornbread too. Drinks: With chili, it's gotta be beer and soda so that's a no brainer -- I'm thinking Modela Negro and plain ole Co-Cola. (none of that stinkin' P-beverage here!)
Thinking about? ...hmm...our next trip to WDW is never far from my thoughts. The boys and I are camping at the Fort. My oldest son, DDIL and their tribe of wild yahoos (um...lovely children) are on our reservation too -- although for practical reasons -- they are actually going to stay off-site most nights. They showed me the website for the hotel they are looking at and the rooms have the cutest little kid's roomettes attached -- affording some privacy for the adults. I'm surprised Disney hasn't adopted the same idea
I think we'll probably bring a crockpot (there's that food obsession again) with us so we can do some fun meals at the campsite. I need to get with the sewing on the much discussed Cinderella dress this weekend since I finally have all the sparkly doo-dads assembled in one place. The ADR has been made (Ka-ching!!! $$$119.00 for two adults, one child, and a baby in advance) for the girls to all join Cindy for Breakfast on our first day. Oooooh, it's gonna be fun!!!!!

The day began with the family sitting around the table reading the paper whilst DH manned the griddle..I had waffles with crunchy peanut butter and maple butter...it was yummy.
The four of us then proceeded to go shopping for clothes. For the record, I hate, loathe and abominate clothes shopping and I wait until things are dire before I'll drag myself to go..but seeing as how it was a family adventure I didn't mind so very much.
Tomorrow is the Aids Walk and today just seemed like practice.
We ate at Chili's- not as bad as I thought it might be...but the dessert was yucky..it tasted like powdered sugar and crisco. Luckily I have some pots de creme in the fridge setting up for after tomorrows walk.

And as for thinking: thinking about Disney in two weeks:banana:  of course!

Yard work, trying to find Petunia's to plant, but every place I check is still pushing fall plants like Marigolds and Mums. :confused3 (Petunia's are a great winter plant for Florida)

A nice dinner, haven't decided if we are dining in or out yet.......

Thinking about.....A CIGARETTE!

It's been 14 days!

Woo-Hoo!!! GOOD FOR YOU, MIKE!!!! My dad died from a heart attack @ age 62 and his 40+ year habit was a likely causative factor. My mom, also a longtime smoker, quit 15 years ago -- but is now on oxygen (hates it) for COPD. You are SO doing the right thing -- both for yourself and for those who love you .

Rosie -- Good Luck on the walk today. Hope you have a GREAT turn-out. :goodvibes How has the weather been? We lived in Longview, Washington for 3 years and loved it up there. So green and mild.

Thanks for the encouragement! It's been easy for about 80% of the time, I do have my moments though where I could gnaw someone's arm off though! :lmao:

Oh and Rosie, have fun today, take lots of pics!

Here's a little jingle for inspiration!

Young = you put the oven on self clean and go out drinking, heck, what could happen?

Old = you put the oven on self clean, start ripping apart cupboards and hang around the house because with the oven on self clean the house could burn down! :lmao:

I'm high as a kite from the fumes!

I just had a bowl of Trix. I am so pleased that they are spherical again! Just like they should be.;) I don't cook.

I am thinking about an e-mail an acquaintance forwarded to me. She sent it to a bunch of people, not just me. I was SOOOO offended by it I haven't responded because I can't construct a decent answer. And about 4 days have gone by now so there is almost no point in replying. Like I said, she is an acquaintance - NOT a friend. But really, she ought to be more careful what she forwards when she has no idea if everyone she is forwarding to is of the same opinions. I guess THAT is what I should have replied, but I should have said it the same day I got the e-mail.

Cooking? Shrimp. Think Bubba amounts. We stopped in this wonderful place in Georgia and bought waaaaaaay too many wild Georgia shrimp! LOL.

Thinking about? What on earth are we gonna' do with all those shrimp?

Drinking? Water. Boring, yeah I know but I'm thirsty.

Mike, super congratulations to you on doing one of (if not the VERY best) the very best things for your health, body and longevity! Keep up the excellent work, and remind yourself that if a "craving" hits, it will pass within five minutes. Plus, you've come WAAAAAY too far to not keep going, eh?

Hope all goes/went well for you Rosie!

Hang in there... my DH smoked for 30 years and quit 20 months ago. The first few months were the worst, but once he made it past 6 months, things started really getting easier. Best of luck to you!

Back to the original topic...

On our last WDW trip we picked up the "Delicious Disney" cookbook, mainly because we saw it had the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli recipe from tthe Cali Grill, but it also has LOTS of other great recipes for some of our favorite dishes. It also has some things I haven't tried before, so yesterday I made the Apple-Carmel Pie from Whispering Canyon Cafe for us to have for dessert with dinner tonight.

:stir: It has a sugar-cookie crust, 2.5 lbs of sliced Granny Smith apples, ginger, cinnamon and carmel sauce baked in, then it is topped with a crumb toping and drizzled with icing to finish. Can't wait to try it!

Oooooooooohhhhhh. That sounds incredible!

Shrimp gumbo...fried shrimp...shrimp cocktail...shrimp gumbo...shrimp veracruz...
:rotfl2: (actually I DO feel your pain -- kinda sounds like me and all those dang tomatoes this summer) :rotfl2:

As I stumbled across this thread while making dinner I figure I should add my 2cents...

1st off.. Mike - CONGRATS and GOOD LUCK!! Remember you got a cheering squad here for ya when ya need it.

Cooking: French Fries and Tequila Lime Chicken Wings (frozen from Cost Co.) - I'm 2 lazy to cook most of the time so I've become master of the frozen foods - and prepared meals!

Drinking - haven't gotten that far yet, but we've got some way to sweet Blue Hawaiian Punch in the fridge that I impulse bought yesterday and have to get thru.

Thinking - ILuvDVC2's pie sounds really good about now! Why am I the only person in this house who knows how to fold laundry? Why am I trying to eat after 9pm? It's been 4 months since my last Disney Trip and I'm already going thru w/drawal esp since I don't even have another one planned - they say admitting you have a problem is the 1st step ... I think I have a Disney problem ... my problem is I'm not at Disney!!!

Didn't cook a thing today. Went out for lunch, Nachos and a garlic grilled chicken sandwich. Eating - I'm about to kill my tummy and eat the leftovers now. Drinking: I had a Raw Tea hours ago. About to open one of the following, An Imperial Pumpkin Ale, Saranac Pumpkin Ale, Buffalo Bills Orange Blossom Ale, or a Harvest Moon. I'm gearing up for F&W Festival, so I haven't been drinking wine unless I am at work. Thinking, what photos and slides will I enter into a photography contest this week.

Oooooooooohhhhhh. That sounds incredible!

Well, I'm happy to report it was delicious! As good as it was, I will use less sugar than the recipe called for next time, both in the pie and in the the crumb topping. But the sugar cookie crust was perfection! That was the best part!

Let me know if you want the recipe, if you don't already have it!

Oh, I would LOVE the recipe? :yay:

Shrimp. Well, sauteed some in a light garlic and oil...some were made into calzones (wicked!) some are going to be used in shrimp and cheesy grits and some are going into a version of gumbo. So. I think I've got this week's menu covered! LOLOLOLOL!

Hoping it's easier on you today OrlandoMike! Keep up the good work!

I hate that kinda stuff. The environment where I used to work was very politically conservative and narrow (Think Bill O'Reilly before the naughty shower stuff) and people there always were emailing me crap. I could never figure whether it was meant to "convert" me (Yeah, right) or just get me PO'd. I never said anything but now I kinda wish I had. I probably would have quit sooner but maybe would have shaken up their fixed realities a little bit too.

I'm not thinking of cooking anything today. Yesterday I did my diligence in the kitchen with a slow cooker style mac & cheese with Swiss Steak. I LOVE TO COOK. But I can't do it everyday, my hands get chapped from the washing water. ;) And right now I'm just thinking of another trip to Disney. As I always do!

I once worked at an evangelical daycare center. On Monday morning they'd ask me what I'd done over the weekend and I'd think..."nope, can't ell 'em that...nope, not that either....how about..eh no....oh well" "Nothing"!:lmao:

Mike: I am thinking of you today! I used to smoke 23 years ago and I still miss it. Luckily, my DD's have threatened to kill me if I pick it up again....I swear my girls are worse than my parents ever were! They definitely keep me in line.:rolleyes1

I kind of did that yesterday. A good friend of mine came into my work with her children and her older sister. She asked me what I did this weekend (knowing that my girlfriend was out of town:rolleyes1 ) and I looked at her and was like " ummm..well....ahhh, I don't think anything is kid appropriate!"

(I really didn’t do anything...that bad.....but I knew her sister would have had a fit! And it was kind of of more fun to mess with her by not saying anything......let the imagination do my talking!)

As for cooking….. I haven’t done that since my girl left me and went to Tucson for the week……
Drinking………Yuengling of course!

Haha, this past weekend I turned 19, and I went to my first gay bar, sat. night, it was gunny, b/c my dad called today and was like "what did you do for your birthday?" I was like, "well not much" when in reality I was thinking about the cute guy I kissed & danced with, lmao.

I love to cook btw. I awlays thought if acting doesnt work for me, Id go in to be a pastry chef, lol.
