Whatever you do, don't carry a bag to Universal Studios!

so If you have your phone.. wallet and some antibacterial hand spray you'll have to put it in a locker for most rides????

hhmm. hoping to make it to Universal in August for the first time. Reading this is scaring me. What about cameras? I have two that I typically bring with me. My large Nikon and a small waterproof camera. Are those not allowed on the rides either? Or, if I can fit it in my pocket (waterproof will) I'm ok? TIA

The three rides that have metal detectors......Rip Ride Rockit, Hulk and Dragon Challenge.......you are allowed NOTHING other than a lanyard. No waist packs on these 3 rides now.

Nothing in pockets that can fall out.......no cameras........no phones........no wallets.......no keys.......no coins.........

Lockers are easy to navigate and takes minutes. If you have anything you shouldn't you will be sent back from the queue at the metal detectors to lockers.

Other rides like Mummy, and MiB a safety clasped three prong waist past is acceptable as long as it's doesn't interfere with the restraints is acceptable.

No backpacks or similar will be allowed on.......again lockers are there for you to use.

the rule for the 3 rides of nothing in your pockets is a good rule.

two years back before this rule was enforced, a cell phone landed about 10 feet from me.
it splattered all around and a few peeps that were closer to it, got cuts from it.

i was spared, nothing hit me.

having something fly out from a ride is like a missle coming to the ground.
just think if it directly hit someone standing in that area

I've heard that someone lost an eye on Dragon Challenge some years back, which is why they have the metal detectors now and why the 2 coasters don't duel anymore. Though you know how internet rumors can go...

Either way, yes, it's a rule that I very much support. Safety first. I wish all amusement parks enforced it.

i was there on the ride the day before that accident happened.
yes, something a rider had flew out and injured the man elsewhere on the ride.

after that, they became strict on what could be taken on the ride and after more investigations, the dueling dragons no longer dueled......
not a rumor

the day i was on the ride the couple in the seat in front of me did not tuck their lanyard under their tops.

i got what looked like a razor cut on my arm as it just went into me.
i grabbed it and saved it for the dude in front of me.
the man's id's/ cc's also flew out.

his lanyard dangled as the wind/force caught it and it flew behind him.
i grabbed it but that was after he lost what was in it.

it all happened so quickly.....
when the ride stopped in the station, we talked.
i gave him what i grabbed but it was just the lanyard.
it came unsnapped when the ride was 'dueling'.

a TM came up as they could see card size items flying from the ride.

all i needed was a bandaid but the couple were very upset.
they were visiting from Japan and he lost some important items he told us.

have no idea how it ended but the TM told them they could replace their park tickets and the hotel on site would reissue their room keys.

i know many were upset they stopped the dueling but it still is a good ride.

Yes, wasn't a youngish pre teen, it was a kid of around 3 or maybe 4..........dad had to lift her up, hold her while she was still wriggling around.........and I swear her hands were covered in ice cream and chocolate too!! Took them ages.........

I think my guy was 8, maybe 7, at the time. :)

Most rides? No. That's what many of us here are saying. There are many rides that allow bags!

A few rides? YES.

And then there are some rides where if you have a 3 pronged waistpack you can put those things in it and be just fine. Put the bigger stuff, if you have bigger bags, in the lockers, though, for those rides.

I don't think the Scott-E-Vest would work, because you have to go through metal detectors, right?

What about glasses? My husband and daughter wear glasses for vision, and I need to wear sunglasses on outside rides. Is it okay as long as they have a strap holding them on, or do they make us put glasses in the lockers?

Glasses are fine......with or without straps.

My husband and son both wear glasses, on all rides without a croaky type thing. Long as they are well fitted they'll be fine......

You can wear glasses.

Thank you! Good to know our glasses are fine!

Although honestly, I think flying glasses would be just as dangerous as a flying wallet. We'll definitely make sure to have the straps!

This would be funny if I weren't so concerned for this person....

ETA, well that made a lot more sense when the post was there. :)

Some things I totally understand, but not allowing a person to carry their wallet seems crazy, what if you have cargo shorts with a button or zipper that closes tight

Nope...for the 3 big rides you are only allowed your lanyard and glasses...though they did let me sit on my ball cap. Nothing in your pockets.

I lost my prescription sunglasses on Rip Ride Rocket :(
Now I leave my glasses in a locker... things might be blurry on the ride but at least I can put them on again after.

A question in regards to lanyard's can use one lanyard for your family and put their express pass and park pass and room key on it or does everyone including children have to have their own
Thanks

One person can carry it all but they will have to haul out the express passes to show them at each ride.

You could put punch holes on the cards but not near the bar codes

Loop them together and keep the rooms keys with you

For express I would buy cheap lanyards that have a plastic pocket

Just show the ep to the tm's for express line usage

Once you are in the park father the park tickets and hang on to them

I saw a guy this weekend with 5 plastic pouches on one lanyard. Not sure I would go that route but it seemed to work for him.

I wear my glasses in the park and have never had a problem. I have fitted ones though, not the kind that are plastic. I also dance(ballet, tap, jazz) in them so I know they stay on my face. When I used to test them I would lower my head and shake and jump. Yes... crazy.. but I've never lost my glasses!

It never fails. Why do I ALWAYS get the top locker?! I'm 4' 8''. I can't even REACH the top locker to press the button let alone put stuff in it. :confused3

The fact of the matter is that there will always be those people who swear that they aren't going to take whatever-they-are-carrying out while on the ride, and then they'll take it out on the ride. They'll suddenly have an urge to look at their ID while waiting for RRR's launch, and there goes their wallet. They suddenly see the BEST picture from somewhere, and they'll lose their phone. And it might hit someone behind them or on the ground.

It seems that they grew tired of having this happen over and over, and so they've stopped it.

YOU will absolutely keep your phone in your zipped pocket and your wallet in the triple-buttoned back pocket...but that guy behind you will NOT.
