What'cha bet HP will end the Uni/Dis factions

You must have then missed the IOA is just another county fair thread - the CM's at Universal are clueless threads - my favorite - the my disney passes are blacked out so went to Universal but hated every minute cause it wasn't disney thread - the parking is free at disney (as compared to $12/night at Universal but disney hotels are a lot more expensive) threads- the CityWalk is not safe cause by brother in laws daughters friend got hit on thread - The will I be safe at City Walk thread - The CityWalk is not DTD disney thread - The Front of line passes (the ones sold) at Universal are not as good as fastpass thread - The I went to universal at the last minute without knowing a darned thing about Universal and had a terrible time thread. This is only the beginning and all of the above threads did happen. None of it was made up- perhaps exaggerated but not made up.
Were those threads on the DISNEY section of the boards or on the UNIVERSAL section of the boards? If they were on the Disney side, then I agree I am totally clueless because I don't recall seeing them over there. But if they were on these boards, then you are basically 100% validating my point.

No your point was that you see USO fans slagging off Disneyworld. BG was stating some threads were Disneyworld fans have slagged off USO.

to quote the caveman geico commercial - my response HUH?

they were here - you were the one who said you never say any disney people bad mouthing universal and I quoted many. How did I validate your point?

You wrote and I quote
I have noticed ALOT of USO fans knocking Disney but on the other side, not so much.
So lets recap. You state that you have noticed a lot of USO fans knocking disney but provide no evidence of such but yet I provide a preponderance of evidence where disney fans have bad mouthed universal and yet I validated YOUR point? - this is very laughable.

I was differentiating the two sides of the board NOT the people themselves. If you go to the Disney side of boards you don't see anyone knocking USO but on this side there are USO people knocking Disney and yes, alot of Disney people knockin' USO. THAT WAS MY POINT. It is an issue over here but over there nobody cares. Does that make sense?? Using my analogy, Yankee fans when they are together don't care or talk about the Mets but Mets fans talk about the Yankees all the time and when a Yankee fan gets into the conversation, it gets ugly. I know because I am Mets fan so I am relating to the USO fan. I don't know what it is, second rate citizen, jealousy of all the succes, the history, whatever...

So, the fact that there are so many anti-disney/anti-universal threads IN THIS SECTION proves my point. I have been on these boards for three years and this is my first trek over to the Universal section because we are going in August. It was not until coming here that I saw dozens of these posts knockin' each other. In fact, I was a little surprised when I first saw it because, personally, I don't know how anyone who spends so much time on these boards and obviously loves theme parks doesn't LOVE both Disney and Universal which if you go back to my original post, that was really my point (See my Quote from Adamm). But the reality, because of how the two parks compete, the consumer is forced to pick one and then it becomes a preference. If it was feasible, I would go to both (and Sea World) every time...Wouldn't it be cool if Orlando was one destination with 7 theme parks instead of 3 destinations and you could buy a 7 park park-hopper???

YES! That would be AWESOME!!! :thumbsup2 I have noticed that the Southern California parks do have a ticket like that; it's for DL, DCA, USH, and either the San Diego Zoo, or Knott's Berry Farm.

The Flex Ticket allows you access to all of the major attractions except Disney, because they don't play with others.

You must have overlooked a LOT then on the Disney boards...if I had time I'd link them. Whatever you see over here about Disney vs. Universal is much more subtle than some of the posts I've seen on the Disney side, thats for sure.

I'll second that...... over here we all love Disney...we don't post negative threads about Disney on the Disney boards, but Disney people seem to not like Universal (mostly due to lack of research) and post very negative things on the Universal boards. If I posted something negative on the Disney boards, I'd be eaten by Jaws, er, I mean alive. Don't get me wrong, I've read quite a few positive threads from Disney people who have loved Universal...so, I'm not saying that doesn't happen....

I don't know many Universal people here who don't like Disney...in fact, many of them also hold AP's to WDW. It's just when you are small section on the DIS boards, you are more apt to notice more threads, and a lot of them are not positive about UO. Just my 2 cents. :rolleyes1

beating a dead horse but whatever works

There is a difference between having a bad experience at either place versus outright stating that It wasn't Disney or My tickets were blacked out so we went to Universal and had an awful time cause it wasn't disney which is what you see here and they are usually started by people with names like disneyonly4me or luvethestupidmouse or koolaiddrinker.

We argue with the disney side and generally get along with those that have valid complaints. I have issues with disney but have never said that it "just wasn't universal" - well other than a parody post I made a while back but I digress.

Someone states that a waitress in a restaurant brought wrong appetizer or wanted to p*** off a bartender you can't argue with that whether it happened or not but someone stating that "it just wasn't disney" is just here to stir the pot and those are the ones we have issues with. There is a thtread righ now on this board: Where is the structure? Where are the employees? and this is the same poster who posted an anti universal trip report- quote from that thread This place is just not for us I guess, we are used to the way WDW does things. Do you not read these threads? This person obviously has an anti-universal attitude. These posts are hit and run - they post bad stuff and then leave the thread leaving others to argue it.

You post a anti-disney thread on the disney side and will be stopped quickly because of the numbers of disneyites. The will knock it down quickly. Its just the truth. Over here there is a mix of both sides and people can be anywhere on the fence between all universal or mixed disney/universal. We actually try to get along and can't we all just get along?.

Now can't this thread just die.

EDIT - read the thread about "if I have to hug one more princess I will hurl" and must say that really brought out the kool-aid drinkers. I have always said that if I have to waste one hour going between parks I am going to hurl. Maybe its If I have to spend $30 on a mickey T shirt I am going to hurl. Or else If I have to drive 15 minutes to get outside "the world" I am going to hurl. No its If I have to sit thru small world again I will hurl - Maybe its that if I stay at a disney hotel and never really see the room or pool as compared to universal where I can walk back in five minutes to the pool - I will hurl. Yeah thats it.

Any more reasons to hurl?

I love ioa but not a big potter fan and i guess it has to do with my age but if they can work it in and make it look good i guess it will be ok but if they take too much away from lc such as dd then i think it will mess things up but it won't keep me away from universal cause i am big fan of the universal parks

Well, I think this was a good discussion and I was giving my perspective not from a Disney Fan or from a Universal fan but from somebody who likes both. I really wasn't trying to stir the pot but more trying to say I wish we could ALL love both.

First, if there are posts knocking Universal on the Disney trip boards (not community board) then, like I said before, I am just clueless and that may be the case because I come here alot but I don't read everything. That is why I asked the question. I didn't notice it 'til I started coming over here but I could have missed it because, yes, there are SO many more disney posts.

Second, I am not going to look for every thread where somebody knocked Disney but I know they are here. Heck, even in the beginning of this thread there is an unprovoked knock about Disney moms or something. It is out here.

Third, I was giving an analogy as relating to the second class citizen feeling I get when I hear Yankee fans talking about how great their tradition is etc. The fact is I DO get defensive and it does bother me. I am observing the same reacation here. Please don't get defensive it is just what I observed. I can admit I feel that way as a Mets fan.

And BTW, Universal's ad about the princesses where they feel they need to mudsling at Disney, while extremely funny is admitting that they are a rung below Disney on the theme park ladder and that is sad. Can you imagine a Mets ad saying 'if I have to listen to 27 World Series wins again I am going to hurl - I am going to Shea?' :rotfl: Of course, I'd still lmao!!!

So, again, sorry to ruffle some feathers. I agree, let's let this die and move on :) - it was just a simple observation. And if you don't see it too that is fine or perhaps it has do with something about a river somewhere in Egypt...something like that...:rolleyes1

Busch Gardens will actually pick you up from Orlando in a very nice shuttle and return you the same day for $10.00.

why don't they get bad-mouthed for that tactic?

I know that there have been negative threads about Universal on other forums. Those don't bother me as much as the almost daily jabs I see. Someone will post about something shocking they saw at Disney and someone else will remark that maybe the shocking guest got lost and thought they were at Universal. Those type of remarks pop up all the time in completely random threads.

I do think we get defensive mainly because we are out-numbered. But honestly, you won't find a better group of posters. They are always willing to help a newbie to Universal in planning thier trip.

There is at least one thread a week on the Disney side bashing Universal and probably one thread every two weeks where someone bashes Universal on the Universal side. The theme parks board is especially bad. I've been around these boards for a long time and it has always been like that. It has just become a big joke here now.

I agree, Bev, that the ones that really get me are not actual threads but little posts where if something bad has happened at Disney, someone will say that they are surprised that it happened at Disney because it is something they would expect happens at Universal. Lots of posts about gangs, thugs, bad language, filth. And the favourite, "That would never happen at Disney." It just gets so tiring.

there are many regular posters in the UO forums that spend a good amount of time answering questions to newbies interested in universal.

sometimes, the same questions keep coming in every few days.
do we say, check the other threads?, no, we don't.

we treat each poster with all the help we can give them.

I am a fan of both Disney and Universal. While the HP park will be an asset to Universal, I do not think that it will lead to a significant cut in Disney's attendance and popularity. Disney parks are American cultural icons and while Universal parks are terrific, they do not have iconic status.
