What ya doing for Thanksgiving?

Same thing I do every Thanksgiving -- only this year, I'll be up to my elbows in a dead bird's freezin' cold woo-hoo at about 4:00 am cuz' the manly men are all headin' out for their late deer hunt on the Kaibab plateau by 1:00 pm (gives' em time to get camp set up before it's totally dark.)

You know -- I gripe and grumble but I really love it. The house always smells great from the pies, turkey, and rolls and it is SO much fun havin' everybody together. :goodvibes We'll play some board games and my DDIL will map out our attack for going shopping on Friday morning (she's much better at that kinda stuff than I am). Anybody wants to drop in, please feel free. :)

I sure hope it cools off a little bit cause right now, it feels more like barbeque weather than anything else. We won't be putting up our tree until mid-December cause we like having a real one (again -- it's all about the smell)

MMMMMMM BBQ Turkey!

We are having one fried. One smoked. One roasted. Maybe two fried.

Oh, a deep fried pork loin or two.

Mashed potatos, squash, that annoying green bean casserole, stuffing, cornbread, cranberry relish, tons of pies.

T&SMom... I've been on the Kaibab plateau. How can you get beyond those amazing vistas to... well.... um... shoot Bambi?

Kissimmee Heights thank you very much! :thumbsup2

Or as a couple we ran into at Applebee's said once "You know, the Greater Hunters Creek area!" :lmao:

Does that include Gatorland? I haven't been there in years!!!

A few Waffle Houses
A great SuperTarget

Do you go as far as Southchase? Number 1 Chinese Food is awesome!

Oh that is too funny :rotfl2: "annoying green bean cassarole" I despise it but my daughter loves that AND sweet potatoes covered with tiny little marshmallows. I DO draw the line at green jello with fruit cocktail in it, however.

The Kaibab is beautiful -- I think even more so this time of year -- if they get some snow. Bambi = yum, yum, yum. :rotfl:

About 4 years ago we transitioned from having Thanksgiving dinner with the family to making our own holiday traditions. We take Thanksgiving week off from work and head to WDW and have Thanksgiving dinner at the Wilderness Lodge followed by an evening at the Magic Kingdom. This year we rented a 3 bedroom at OKW and invited my parents, brother and sister-in-law and 2 nieces to join us. It will be fun sharing our tradition with them. This trip has been planned for a year now, and I can't believe it is 2 weeks away.

I drive by Gatorland daily, and you will be happy to know that the Jaws have been pressure washed and are ready for a new coat of paint, and the new gift shop is going up quick! They have really recovered from the fire in a great way! If you haven't been in the Southchase area lately you would be surprised at all of the new restaurants and shops! :cool1:

That car needs hydraulics! :rotfl:

HEY! We're closer than 15 minutes, Kevin and Randall! LOLOL. That'd be 25, eh? :teeth: LOL.

Sounds like you are going to have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Enjoy! :yay:

My Mom and Dad came down with me and the BF this week, who brought his Mom and Sister... his Mom's already asked my parents to come down for Thanksgiving... this will be the first big step for everyone.... should be for interesting holidays.

Honestly not sure yet... holidays the last couple of years have been kinda up in the air due to various deaths and health issues and this year going to have the added strangeness from my dad getting remarried... I need to find something new to do for the holidays cause I have a feeling this year is going to be even more depressing then last year :P

And BTW... my dad is one of those crazy people with lots of lights (but in MD not FL)... has like 20k lights or something... started putting them up a week ago =p His house was in a book and is probably going to be in a TV show

Love this video.. thanks for sharing it..

I am cooking for 13.. have I said how I hate to cook now. I am just lazy now, I raised my kids.. can I relax yet?

I'm working Thanksgiving eve and day. Going to have a ton of volunteers spread out over the city, helping put together dinners, decorating, etc... for our clients within our various homeless shelters. I'm planning to program hop through Brooklyn, lower Manhattan up to Harlem just to make sure all is going well. It's actually kind of a neat way to spend the day. Now I just have to convince Joe to come along with me and make it a family day for us.

We're going to dinner Thanksgiving night to a friend's apartment. He usually invites about 10 folks or so, all having cocktails and a fancy schmancy catered dinner. It's going to be fun, but neither Joe nor I are fancy schmancy guys so the food is going to be "lost" on us.

I'm thinking maybe I should whip up a T-giving dinner for the day after and invite a couple of friends over.

I love fancy shmancy.. hey I love anything that is catered... Thought to self, maybe I will just someone else do the turkey...like my kids will let me get away with that.. I will be slaving over the hot stove and entertaining guests, I would much rather have someone else do it, fancy or not.

Around here you can find an organization (usually a fancy schmancy hotel) that will sell a fully prepared thanksgiving feast and donate their proceeds to charity. I've been told that most do a great job of preparing it in a way that allows you to pretend you did it all yourself if you wish.

We'll probably eat with my Mom, and then sit around like the bloated fools we are, watching our horrible Atlanta Falcons get pummeled by the Colts!

I am gonna go watch the ASU Sun Devils kick the snot out of the Trojans from the University of Spoiled Children!

Rose Bowl here we come!

LOLOL! I've never quite heard it put that way before. Ummm... my neice attends USC. :teeth:

Have a quick story...

We have our turkey. Yep we do indeedy. It's in the freezer waiting to come out and thaw.
It's about a 17 pound turkey.

Last Thursday Publix had their "tasting Holiday party" and of course we attended. Apparently, my DP got sooooo carried away with the festivities that she thought we needed another turkey so we came home with a TWENTY EIGHT POUND bird!!!!! We are only having TWO people and ONE child for dinner (well a total of four adults)!

I'm telling ya', the woman just can't stay away from those under a dollar a pound turkeys. So we've got it thawing in our refrigerator along with NOT MUCH ELSE because nothing will fit! LOLOLOL.

So, if anyone is in my neck of the woods and needs a turkey sandwich on Friday, don't hesitate to stop by! LOLOLOLOL!
