Marathon Weekend 2026

Yes, it’s STILL too early for anything to be trusted… but that overnight forecast for Sun. sure looks like a cold front is hinting at coming through. So:

1. It could play out exactly as forecast and folks sticking around in the parks Monday might want some warmer layers OR
2. Timing could change a little or a lot - what if it speeds up and makes for a cold marathon, or even half - are you prepared? OR
3. It could vanish entirely and stay warm the whole time

What I’m saying is - I’m only planning to be there 2.5 days and not doing a single race and yes - I’m bringing it ALL!!! :rotfl:

I got a late bib in July and bib number is 16xxx. I’m guessing that’s bad. Does anyone want to take a guess which corral?

Okay, I am really excited to start packing (we're leaving tomorrow). I am having a dilemma. Is it crazy to bring 4 pairs of shoes, knowing I am likely (but not guaranteed) to buy another pair at the expo? (I think I go through this every time we leave for a race weekend but, you know, marathon weekend feels different).
Not crazy at all. I am bringing four pairs myself. Two pairs of running shoes, two pairs of park shoes, including my Mickey Brooks that I am wearing on the plane. Heck my wife is not even running and I believe she has 6 pairs packed.

For me as soon as the predicted temp dropped into the 50s the long sleeves came out. Learned this winter that’s the comfort temp region for long sleeves is 50s and we don’t warm up like normal athletes. So the biggest concern wouldn’t be until we get later into the morning after race.

AccuWeather is also having the low on half morning starting to come down. Not a lot but it’s no longer in the 60s.

I’m guessing this was after POT was due so you wouldn’t have an opportunity to put that in or your pace estimate, so it’s likely near the back.

Sadly, yes. I’m hoping they may adjust it for me at the expo but I’m not holding my breath. My HM time is 2:03.
Oh definitely go to Runner Relations with that and explain the whole situation, they should move you up. Like the whole thing about corrals is that you want people with similar paces together for safety reasons.

I think there’s a good chance they put you in B but I feel like I’ve heard instances where they don’t move you all the way up. In any case this is a no brainer to ask.

Thank you for making me feel better about it. I’m really hoping I do get moved up. I understand if it’s not to where I would be if I was able to enter my POT, but even moving up one corral would be huge.

If you got your bib after the POT deadline and your POT race was before the deadline, they'll normally put you where you should be. Runner Relations is very good about this. You'll get a little sticker with the correct corral on it place over the printed one on your bid.

That’s so good to hear! I was expecting a hard no. Thank you for easing my mind!!

So….are we camp glitter or is that a hard pass?! Personally, I love the look of it but when I’ve tried it before on myself, I felt like it didn’t work well. I have smile lines around my eyes and I feel like it just enhances that! Debating on bringing any or just dazzling everyone with my “I’m super scared, don’t talk to me because I might vomit” sparkle instead.
