What would you wait in line 5 hours for?

I think I would wait 5 hours to get into Club 33. I don't think anything else in the parks.

As far as what have I waited a long time for: I got to see the dress rehearsal for the 2002 Winter Olympics. We had to be bussed to the venue, and go through security (in the first six month post 9/11- so it was intense). They wanted everyone in their seats early. Then we had to wait for a bus to take us back from the stadium. But all in all, I think it only took about 8 hours start to finish. And my date said it was great to have an 8 hour date for our second date, as it gave us lots of time to talk and get to know each other. We've been married for over 7 years now!

What about to hang with me?

I would wait that long for a few things, I'd wait to meet Walt! Maybe if I got to spend time with an imagineer or two. I'd wait to meet Dan Marino (if it was for more than an hand shake and autograph). I'd wait if it involved my kids and a once in a lifetime opportunity. If Lily wanted tickets for a concert, or the boys wanted to see someone/something that required a long wait. I've waited two or three for movies, but the atmosphere is usually just as fun as the show itself. I've waited for 2 hrs+ on Black Friday even.

I think one of the biggest problems of this is that most people when thinking of a five hour wait for Harry Potter consider it in terms of a five hour wait for a Disney attraction, which would be unbearable. What's not being taken into consideration is that this is the most elaborate queue in the history of theme parks. Whereas Disney will throw up a 30 second video game to try to distract patrons from obscenely long waits, check out what Universal has done for Spider-Man, The Mummy and the Simpsons.

What really struck me was one line in this week's podcast, when it was brought up that it's certainly not uncommon for something like Soarin' to have a three hour wait and certainly Test Track and Space Mountain can be at two hours. For the most part, this is hours and hours of doing nothing for a 3-5 minute ride at the end. I'm not knocking the rides, they are all great, but the lack of theming is atrocious. I don't think it's fair to compare a three hour wait for a three minute ride can be to a four hour wait for a one hour "experience."

To talk to my late father. And that isn't happening, so my answer is I wouldn't wait in any line, anywhere, for 5 hours. They would have to wait for me!

do you work for universal?

and by the way, i wouldn't wait 2 hours to ride space mountain or test track or soaring..
and i also wouldn't wait 4 hours for a one hour 'experience' - if by 'experience' you're referring to potterville....
but then again, i'm not the target audience anyway (potter hater here), so universal has nothign to worry about that i'm not willing to wait for it... :goodvibes

Please keep in mind that the "one hour experience" is designed for a very short wait in each location (ie....a one hour experience).

These experiences are tape loops and those standing for 5 hours will see the same loop over and over and over and over. Even the most entertaining loop will get old after repeated viewings.

And unless you are one of the very few that have been able to ride FJ, none of us are qualified to compare anything. As we havent ridden FJ....we have no idea what the "one hour experience" will include.

All of that being said.....unless there are comfortable seats, snacks and a financial reward at the end of the queue....there is nothing in a theme park that I'd wait 5 hours to see.

I remember getting into the 2 hour line for Splash at Disneyland before FP. I thought wait now, or wait later.

I can see ppl waiting for Harry Potter for 5 hours, but since I'm a lot older now, I don't think my body could wait that long!

You forgot another thing... access to a bathroom! :scared:

NOTHING! Well, except maybe to see Walt's Apartment or the Castle Suite.

Five hours even for Harry Potter seems a bit excessive. ;) I hope you go past the Hogwart's bathrooms and snack stops on the way to the ride or I'm not going.
