In November we are staying at the ASSp for 2 nights before moving over to ASMo for our FTP vacation. Does anyone have any great suggestions of how to spend that first full day?(we check in late and we won't have park passes; transportation isn't an issue)
We were thinking about touring other resorts (not pool hopping) and maybe catching a late lunch at either Rainforest or Concourse Steakhouse. There are 5 of us (not staying in the same room), 4 adults, 1 child (DGS5).
Which resorts would you visit that may have something of interest to all of us?

I'd go to DTD, you can eat at a bunch of different places and then shop till you drop! LOL

I would probably choose DTD as there is something for everyone. You can stay together or split up depending on the ages of the party. Adults love to shop and take in the atmosphere, the 5yo will love the lego store and the toy store. IIRC there were a couple kiddie rides (a train?) as well. Its a great way to get into the disney spirit without using a park admission. I also find that when I do have park admission I don't want to 'waste" the time at DTD so we always do this on an off day.

I would also make a ps for the lunch at the rain forest cafe at dtd- another place that appeals to all ages. Have fun

It looks like you'll be arriving on the 7-9 weekend, so remember that DTD is having the Festival of the Masters. If you're not into Art (or PI Jazzfest) I would steer clear of DTD.

Here is a choice you left out, go to the Boardwalk, visit BWI, BC/YC, Swan and Dolphin, have dinner somewhere in the area, the choices are huge, stroll around, have desert at Beaches n Cream and then take a boat ride to MGM or walk or take a boat to Epcot. Many choices and things to do here.

I would suggest both DTD for shopping and lunch, possibly even catch a movie. I would also go over to TTC and catch the resort monorail and stop at each of the resorts and look around. There's lots to see. I would then have dinner at CM's at CR. It always gets you in the Disney party mood! After dinner, hop the monorail back to TTC and take a late night ride over to EPCOT and back. By then it should be dark and if you aren't worn out you could ride the resort loop one more time and see MK at night with the castle changing colors. Good luck:wave:

I voted for Contemporary based on the fact that you'll have a 5 yo boy with you. I would personally like the GF or Poly visits, but I don't think my son would. Since you will have a whole day, I think you could do more than one of these resorts. You could even take the monorail. You might be able to do the resorts in the morning and then head to DTD. I think the resorts allow 3 hour parking. DTD has a Legoland that the 5 yo would love. I would also plan a character meal in a resort for that day.

Take the bus to the MK. Take the boat to Fort Wilderness. Visit the petting zoo (I think they still have pony rides until 5:00pm) and the Trading Post. Take the Little boat to the Contemporary and visit the Arcade here. Awesome! Take the monorail to Poly,
( Be sure to ask if you can sit up front with the driver). Grab a cup of Kona and stroll the beach and resort. Make a PS for a character buffet at one of the monorail resorts and after dark watch the fireworks from the beach at Poly or the 4th floor of the Contemporary.
Wish I were there right now!

Festival of the Masters is not that bad.....down at DTD westside there were more artsy booths, but very nice, not too crowded the first day last year. Up the other end near World of Disney, there were sidewalk chalk artists, etc doing some amazing things....and kellogs was giving treats away last year.....the kids might get a kick out of that!

Does anyone have any information about the Festival of the Masters or know where I could find that information?
Thank you to everyone who has posted opinions so far and keep them coming.. there are some great suggestions here.

Make a day of the MK Resorts! Boats, monorails, ferries. Rent some watercraft and cruise around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. Stroll around the Polynesian, GF and CR grounds - all three have decent arcades for some DSG time. Lots of places to eat, relax, sightsee and people watch.
