I like scotch and water. No sweet stuff unless it is coffee and Baileys. I do like a Tom Collins. Crown and coke is also pretty tasty

Okay, this is where things stand:

Mark cannot get into a specialist until December 1 (the other one recommended was even later--December 8);

Markie went to the emergency room this afternoon. He does NOT have the flu, but has strept throat and an ear infection (poor kid);

Got a new dryer...it was delivered today;

We are taking Markie my car over the weekend (probably Sunday as Saturday I'll be too tired as I'm running a fundraiser on Friday night and plan to have several adult beverages).

I can't believe it takes until December to get an apointment!! :scared1:

It's a relief to hear that Markie doesn't have the flu, but sore throat and ear infection are not helping while studying either.

You are such a good mum, letting him have your car.
And I would be honoured if you had a drink for me too! Anything that tastes nice and helps you forget a few sorrows will do! ;)

Be careful driving though! During that cold weather driving is NO fun!!!

Hello Kathy!
glad to hear it is not the flu! Dayne had strep throat last year, we think mono along with it but he would not go get the blood work; he was running fever and did not want to get out of bed for a couple weeks...
so sorry to hear Mark can't get an appointment until Dec 1...I know it is hard to get appointments with specialist esp with the holidays and the end of the year.

Glad to hear your dryer arrived at least that has to be exciting (even though you were not looking to buy a new one at this time)...
have fun and your fund raiser...
:wave2:

Sorry I haven't been around to give you guys an update. I've been in a major depression and with the exception of answering a few regular threads I'm subscribed to, haven't really thought about Disney much.

I did change our ressies to three nights at AKL, then Marco (we have the dates on hold with our friends) and then five nights at the CSR. However, the trip will more than likely not happen. We got the new dryer and I'm afraid a new washer is going to be next; Mark's truck had to have new breaks/struts, etc. so that's about $900 and then, of course, we're going to need a car for me before the spring and Mark starts umpping baseball games because I'll need a car for work, etc. That and my brother got his hours cut back and his pay cut so I've got to try to help Mom a little bit more with her financial stuff and it's just not looking promising. Hence, the depression (plus my BF and I had a huge fight and we're not talking which just adds to my misery).

So that's the plan as of now. :)

Kathy, so sorry to hear that it just seems to keep coming! Maybe, ya'll will be able to plan a shorter trip so to still have dose of yearly magic...it is still a good way off; so, hopefully things will end up better than they appear at the time :hug:

We all know that saying of when it rains it pours and you are in the midst of a tsunami. You so don't deserve it. I know you aren't to be given more than you can handle and obvioulsy you have had a lot to handle lately but I'm going to be the optimist here for you. It will work out. Not necessarily maybe what you have in mind but HE will see you thru this too. We all love you and will continue prayers of hope.

Oh, Kathy, I am so sorry you are going through so much. It certainly has been a rough Fall - nonstop worries for you.

Please don't lose hope for your September trip - after all, it looked pretty hopeless this year and look what happened. I just know something will work out. :hug:

Kathy, I am so very sorry. When it hits, it hits big doesn't it! I PROCLAIM that things are going to turn around. If you proclaim it, HE says it shall be done. HE knows what you are going through and you will come out of this a stronger woman. I know when I was going through everything with my family, I didn't think I could stand it any more but I did thanks to the prayers and support of my friends....my Dis friends included. We're here for you whenever you need a pick-me-up.:grouphug:

Kat, Tink has some pixie dust for you!

First, thanks to everyone for their great suggestions but, most importantly, for all your support the last couple of weeks with all the problems we've been having--you guys are the BEST!

So, after all of this and with all the problems we've had, we've decided that we won't do Disney in September. Instead, this is what we are going to do.

We will go to Marco Island, MAYBE, for a week in September as the condo is ours to use whenever we want. We'll only do this if we can get really cheap airline tickets (and rental car).

Then, in November, we hope to go to Disney for four days at the same time that MickeyNicki (our famous food guru) goes so that we can join her and Todd. We'd really like to do this as we've never been there to see the Christmas decorations, etc. Not sure where we're going to stay yet...hopefully some "room only" deals will come out for that time.

We'll save a longer trip to Disney and do our AKL/CSR to the following year.

I think you have made a good decision. It was like when Don told me we could not have any vacay next year and I had resigned myself to that and now he has decided we need to do something. That made me happy. I will hope you find good airfair. I know when I book my car thru AAA the earlier you book the better. Good luck on that and you have a good plan.

Hope you are feeling better this week. Just a week now till Mark can see the Dr. I bet for him seems like forever. Take care.

I think it sounds like a good plan. If I had a condo just waitin' on me, I'd go there too. And, you are still going to go to Disney. I'd love to meet the food guru too.....and see Disney done up in all it's Christmas glory.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that a really really good deal comes out and you can take advantage of it.

See.....things are looking up!:thumbsup2

Thanks, Ginny. Maybe we should join AAA--we're not members? :confused3

I can't wait until Mark gets to the doctor. I couldn't stand it last night and I slept in the spare bedroom (Markie slept over at his friend's house). Today my neck and body are killing me--it's a crappy bed.

Lisa, you would LOVE Nicki--she is an absolute hoot. And she found my t-shirt that I've been looking for and sent it to me from the Poly while she is there on her trip. She's great.

Kathy, congratulations, your decision rocks!!

I'll keep my fingers crossed you can get super cheap airfare for September and I am ALL so excited you are planning on going to be at Disney with Nicki and Todd!
If you have never been to Disney for Christmas - you just HAVE TO!! It is wonderful. It was our dream to do that just once and two years ago I actually was able to get unpaid leave and we went to WDW for a week in December. Oh how I wish I could go back! :goodvibes

Hmm, should I put a ticker on my laptop for YOUR trip? :lmao:

The bed situation doesn't help. Now you both hurt. That sucks. I think our AAA is like 80 a year. We use it a lot. They have specials sometimes. Cause we have dual. *0 for each and when Sheri joined her's was 80 and Mike's was free. You get 4 tows/service calls per membership and towed to your choice not just a local place. We booked Disney trip last year and they did a really good job. I think they have a cheaper one too. We've belonged since 1990. You can go to their website and look up prices I think.

I just joined AAA last week. It was $47 for two cars for a year. I could have upgraded to the $70 something dollar one and got the free towing. Right now, we just have the towing up to like 5 miles or so. I really wanted to have it just in case Lacey needed it going back and forth to Atlanta. Even if we have to pay for towing further than that, I know she can just call AAA and they'll get somebody there.

I also wanted to use it for travel purposes.:thumbsup2

See how smart Lisa is. Don pays for it and gives me a card. I have been know to use it. Twice last year on flat tires.

Lacey drives her Jeep a lot when going back and forth to the homeless shelter in Atlanta. It's not in a very nice part of town and I worry about her. I wanted her to at least be able to call somebody to get her vehicle if she's in a pickle.

Kathy-
Sorry that your plans have changed. But going to Marco sounds so relaxing and that is what you might need at that time. Plus you are still going to have a mini Disney trip too! Who knows it is still about a year away and your plans might change again. I hope Mark gets to see that specialist sooner than later. :goodvibes
