My DH, DS(2), and I have a trip booked for August. It was at CBR but we now have changed to POP (Due to financial reasons) Its our anniversary trip and I've been bummed since we made the resort change. I've always stayed at CBR and enjoyed my stay and was hoping for that mor romantic feel. Either we can keep our current reservation or hold off until the beginnning of December and stay at CBR then. Although it wouldn't be an anniversary trip at that point, but it would be an early christmas present. Last year, we spent a lot of time at the resort and it was very relaxing, I'm just wondering if we will get there and wish we waited. What would you do? Keep the current reservation with the 4/3 deal, or wait to get a mod in Decemebr.

Thanks!

I always opt for waiting. I always stay deluxe, which means I can only go every 2-3 years. But I figure that Disney is such a big expenditure, that it's better to wait and do it right, than to go cheap and have a lesser experience. I'm sure others will argue the opposite, that more often is better, but I'm a definately a quality over quantity girl.

I would wait! It's only 4 months longer and CBR is definitely worth the wait! :lovestruc Especially since you spend a lot of time at the resort.

First of all, I don't think staying at a Value vs a Moderate is going to "ruin" your Disney trip.

I think the real question is in the weather for the trip. Do you want to go in August when it is hot and humid OR do you want to go in December when it will be nice-to-chilly. Also in December the Christmas decorations will be up.

To me, that is the bigger question and only you can answer that.

As far as romance ... wouldn't that be limited anyway if you have a 2 yr old along?

I think this is a question you will have to answer on your own based on preference. My experience at the Values has been positive ... unless you had a room with a balcony and/or terrace, the rooms are just hotel rooms.

Anyway, good luck with your decision.

My vote is to wait and go when you can go where you really want to be. That would be what I would do. I think seeing the decorations and lights at Christmastime would be so nice and romantic.

I agree. We've never been in December and don't know how much time you'll actually be able to enjoy the pool as you said you spend some time at the resort. I think you need to determine the weather, crowds, etc. for your time of visit.

Yea definately wont be any romance going on but I guess I just thought the feel of the resort. we enjoyed the sand last year and the whole resort felt relaxing, opposed to the rush feeling you get when you are in the parks. I just wonder if pop will be too fast paced for us, so to speak.

What is the temps in Dec usually? I never thought about no swimming. We are from Indiana so we will thinking heat wave lol

If I get to choose how about both. :rotfl::lmao:

Seriously, I would keep the anniversary trip. Anniversary trips have an extra special meaning. We are looking forward to staying at Pop this summer. It will be our first time staying on property. :thumbsup2

I don't know. But they can vary just like any other area. I know people were complaining a couple of weeks ago that they really couldn't go swimming. And I agree with the pp...there is someting special about celebrating your anniversary at Disney...with or without kids there!

I'm sure whatever you decide you'll have a great time.

We always wait until we can afford to stay at the resort we really want. To us, the resort itself makes up half the excitement of the trip...it means we go less frequently, but we really get what we want. Of course, that's our personal experience.

No matter where you stay, your trip will be expensive...it would stink if you decided to go in August and then felt disappointed that you didn't wait. JMO

Have a great trip whatever you decide.

If it was me, I would stay at CBR in August.

I would try and trim out some of the fluff
- no park hopper, with proper planning it's real easy to do
- reduce the number of park days, although the 4/3 deal I think there is no savings with this.
- no water parks fun and more, see if buying a one day waterpark ticket is cheaper
- if you're doing the 4/3 deal I would tighten up the food budget a bit more

Sure, going in December is nice for Christmas decoration viewing but the crowds are crazy. I much prefer August over December.

I would eat a lot more bologna sandwiches at home to help pay for the trip. :thumbsup2

When we were there last December the temps were upper 50s at night to mid 70s during the day.

I'd either postpone or try to save up the extra to upgrade, because the resort is really important to me and when we walked through the Value last time just to see, it was crazy busy and I just didn't like the feel.

Can I ask a question though? I thought you had to travel by June 27th to get the 4/3 deal, or was there also a later window for the 4/3. The lady on the phone had told me the travel dates were through 6/27.

You can upgrade with no penalty, but since the deal is expired there must be availability at CBR under the 4/3 deal. There may not be any.

But even it there is not availability with the 4/3 if you have AAA the savings for us at a moderate for the 4/3 deal vs AAA rates were only $100 including tix for 5 people the cost differential for two people might be even smaller.

simplymama - The 4/3 deal went until Aug 15.

LovetheMouse12302- I believe there is a charge if you change after the 45 day mark. I would change it before the 45 day mark and come hell or high water I would get the extra money.

Garage sale
bake sale
sell some stuff on ebay :lmao:

I personally don't think Pop is a downgrade from CBR. However, I personally would like the weather and decorations better in December. Tough decision. I think you'll enjoy either stay. :goodvibes

I would stay in Dec, better weather, lower crowds and there is nothing like WDW for Xmas

I think we are sticking with Pop in August. I asked my son where he wanted to stay, although he is young, he replied with Mickey Mouse, that shows me he could care less about where we stay as long as he gets to see Mickey. Lol So I put the planning DVD in and he keeps talking about the big wheel at pop. Where is that located? Also what is the best area to request for a standard room? Thanks! BTW we will drive to the parks so buss stop location doesnt matter.
