What would you do?!?

Option #1: Rent a car (Cost is $125)
Option #2: Use ME and Mears (Cost would be $60)

We planned on picking up the car at the airport, stopping for groceries, and using it to go to Universal for two days.
Our travel companions canceled on us, leaving us with the full cost of the car.

Option number two pops up now:
Use ME for RT airport transfers, pack our groceries and buy unlimited pop mugs at the resort, and use Mears to get us to and from Universal (two of us at $30 RT each day.)

Having a car would mean we wouldn't have to be on anyone elses schedule, but would also have to pay for gas and tolls. ME is..well, it's ME. Mears picks up every hour for the first few hours of the day, and their last pickup at Universal is at 2:30am, which would work for us going for Halloween Horror Nights.

...so, what would you do/suggest we do?!?

We always rent a car. We like the convenience and flexibility. But, if you don't think you will need it, got with option #2.

We always rent car too for the same reason as WDWFAN1! We like the flexibility of going when & where we want. We usually make at least one grocery run off property.

We always rent a car, but last time we got the best of both a car and ME. We used ME to get to WDW from MCO so that we wouldn't have to bother getting our luggage. We weren't going to the parks on our first day, so we didn't need a car right away. We reserved a car ahead of time to be picked up at the WDW CCC and and returned to MCO. The free shuttle picked us at at CSR and took us to CCC to pick up the car. Our flight was late afternoon on our last day, so we had the convenience of the car to leave later and get the maximum time in the parks without having to leave early to accomodate ME. (You can also rent a car at the Dolphin, but their hours of operation are not as long as CCC).
