Yesterday we went to a benefit fry, and there was a silent auction. (the sale was be run by my friend, and her group of friends)
there was a 5 day disney world hopper ticket, that had never been used. I bid on it and won, I paid $140.00 for it. (When i look on the WDW site, i see it is worth about $272.00) A man offered to buy it from me for $150 - he is going in September of this year. We do not have any plans to visit until 2010, but i bought for the simple fact it was a good price ( 50% off what it will cost me direct)
If you were me, would you sell it to him, or keep and use it on your next trip that is about or over a year away? ( March 2010, or Dec 2010)
I have his phone number, so i could still contact him.

Without a doubt, I would keep it! WDW keeps raising ticket prices so who knows how much that ticket will be worth when you do go on your trip.

I also wanted to add, i just got off the phone w/ WDW ticketing, and it is still valid. We did have concern - but it is a unused valid ticket.

Well I would keep it as well! Tickets are going up every year. Sounds like a good investment, better then the stock market lol...Shawnpirate:

I would keep it. Prices of park tickets are always going up and that's one less you have to buy.

Our last two trips have been on left overs days on tickets I've just been throwing in the drawer for years. One of the tickets I found in the drawer was a voucher for a Magic Kingdom Club Annual Pass - the age of that voucher must have been 20 years it only cost $187.00 but because I had it and redeemed it we were able to get the DDE card - not bad. Disney honored it and didn't blink an eye. I have to go through that drawer again.:rotfl:

Alright I confess - I'm a pack rat. :confused3

Why didn't he bid more for it? I sounds like he screwed the benefit out of more money just to save himself from getting into a bidding war with you. I would keep it for that reason alone. If you want a different ticket you can always upgrade it when you get to WDW next. IIRC, if you use the ticket for one day and you'll get the current at-gate value applied to your upgrade. You're a DVC owner ... it's not like there isn't going to be a "next time", LOL.

I would want to keep it because in 2010 I'd be so pleased with myself that I was saving a boat load of money... but.... I would also be worrying about "misplacing" it before my next trip and never seeing that ticket (or money) again ;) Tough one! Sorry for being no help at all.

I want one of those drawers! ;)

Congratulations on having the winning bid! Something like that usually goes for more than it's cost at the benefit auctions around here. :lmao:And I'll be darned if I'm going to pay MORE! Keep it and be happy!

Ditto.

Kinda defeats the purpose of a charity silent auction to low-ball your bids and then try to one-up the winner after the fact.

OP here,
Na, not at all......we were the only two bidding (must not have been many Disney visitors there :confused3) anyways, he was the first bidder, then i out bid him. He bid again and then i outbid him one last time 3 mins before the time was up LOL  he had no chance :rotfl2: it was all in good fun..i do not think anyone was trying to low-ball, i was just faster than him :)

I am going to keep it......I called my Sister and told her i bought her a ticket....she said now we just have plan a trip :) WHOOhoo 5 days of park hopping coming up :happytv::banana:

I have some of those 100 Years of Disney tickets, the ones that never expired, without paying for that benefit, :thumbsup2

I hope to use up some old passes, just to make it less confusing, but they are like buried treasure in the junk drawer.

Right but ... if he was willing to go up to $150 he should have bid $150 in the first place. I'm glad to hear that you're keeping it. Mr. Cheapskate can just pay face value, LOL!

I found some of those old tickets a few years ago. Took them in. Mine would not work at AK park. The ticket cannot be older than the Park. They worked like a gem everywhere else.
