We currently have a quote from DU for a secret porthole for the Jan. 15th 3-day. It is a great price BUT....we really should be spending the money on house repairs, christmas gifts, anything but another vacation!!!! We have not been on Disney for two years & after just getting back from our NCL Dawn cruise on the 9th.....we REALLY wanted to go back on DCL. Since then I have been online almost everyday checking out prices & looking at everyone's new pics....there's a NEW SHOW!!

What I need is for you guys to tell me that I am crazy & to just go for it.....Due to the holiday I have to make the deposit (full payment) TODAY!! My husband has said to go for it....I am just having trouble justifying two cruises within almost 2 months. It's not like we'll go broke or the house will fall down or there will be no Christmas if we do spend the money on the cruise...but what would you guys do?

If your DH says to go for it, then I say "why not?"

Vacation money can always be put to more practical use, but they can't replicate the memories that are created when you travel.

Definitely do it.

If my husband said "Go for it". I would be on that phone in half a second.

Two cruises so close together and one being with Disney, who could ask for a better Christmas present.

You're crazy....but just go for it! :)

You're crazy .... go for it!!

Just because you know it's coming and it's all nice and paid for (well after you make the payment anyway), isn't it a Christmas present itself? Do it, have a good time.

Go and enjoy life! Everything will work out.....there is always something that needs to be done on the house. Do you have kids? If so, what a great surprise Christmas gift! (This is what we are giving our kids for Christmas---along with Mylar Minnie and Mickey balloons, Toy Story presents, and Princess' stuff!)

Book it and feel good and excited about it!

I did it! We're going on a Disney cruise!!
I actually think I might not overplan this one....just enjoy reading everyone's reviews & look at as many pics as I can find!!

Thanks for the push, This will be my 1 1/2 year olds first Disney cruise....I think we'll all have a great time!!

Only person you have to justify it to is yourself and DH.
Life is too short. Have a GREAT TIME!!!
Be thinking of you (as I look out the window at snow flurries and freezing temperatures)...

Cheers,

I don't want to be the wet blanket, but I think it's irresponsible for everyone to tell you to "go for it" without knowing your financial situation.

If your mortgaged to the hilt and/or there are certain things you NEED vs want (like a DCL cruise) then I don't think it's a very good idea to throw money at another vacation. I say this because I know people that live this way, and it's very dangerous. Those martgages and credit card bills won't go away on their own.

Don't get me wrong, you don't need to justify your situation to me (or anyone else). Only YOU know if you can afford the trip, or if you're putting off the payment down the road. But it probably won't be much fun if deep down you know you can't afford it. If you CAN pay for it now without much financial damage, then by all means go and have fun!

WI....

We CAN afford it. The money is there....it is just that the money COULD go for about 100 other things that are "probably" more important. We bought an OLD house in March & are restoring it, which requires more hard work than money....though of course money is needed. We love the house as much as we love cruising & so far...for us, it is working. If we didn't do the cruise, I would probably be able to get the vintage clawfoot tub for the downstairs bathroom instead!!??!! BUT since the bathroom is not yet ready to receive the tub....the vacation is probably a better choice right now.

Thanks for the concern. We do often need to check ourselves with the finances, though we are more likely to go overboard on house stuff than on vacations! We realize how fortunate we are to be able to have everything that we do.

If it were me, I would go for it. I am sure people wonder how we can afford to take so many vacations.
Well, it is very simple. We live in just your ordinary standard 3 bedroom home(paid for), older furniture, older cars, don't go out much etc. Our view is we would rather vacation than have the material things that a lot of other people opt for.
Everyone has to make their own choices, and vacationing is ours.

I say if you can afford it, go for it. Like I tell my husband, You never know what the future brings. Enjoy yourself while you can!!

Have a great vacation!!!:wave2:

Glad you booked. Life is way too short and since you can afford it, DO IT!!!

Did you take the Norwegian Dawn out of NY and if so how was the ship and did you like the itinerary?
