What would you do pre-cruise?

Background: My family (me, husband, 4 yo DD and 1 yo DS) are flying in 2 nights before our cruise. My Dad and 16 yo brother are coming with us. We are flying in early in the morning, landing at 10am, while they are flying in late at night, landing at 10pm. Essentially it will just be my family utilizing the hotel for the first day. We just went to Disney and visited all 4 parks the beginning of last month, so we are not visiting any parks these days before the cruise. We are relaxing by the pool (hopefully it is warm enough), shopping and dining. We are currently booked in a deluxe room club level WL, which I'm really excited about, although a little nervous about construction, specifically by the pool. My DD will be sleeping with my husband and I, and my son is still in a packing play, so we only need 3 sleeping surfaces, so the deluxe works. The CheapTickets promo codes are now applicable for our visit, and we can book a suite at AOA, which I know my kids will love, for a good price. However, we've only ever stayed deluxe. The WL deluxe is $1265 for the 2 nights. The AOA suite is $600 for the 2 nights. It is hard for me to gauge how much the club level is worth in dollars since I've never stayed Club before. And of course the deluxe resort provides additional amenities. Would you stay put or switch to AOA and save the $665? FYI I constantly flip flop on hotels every Disney trip!

It depends if there's a 'must do' thing as the WL club. We're staying at the Contemporary one night and I splurged for the tower room - park view because I 'must' have the view of the fire works. That was my deal breaker. So we are paying for that one night. If AOA is going to have everything you want, then do you need the WL club level? But if giving up the WL breaks your heart, then you have your answer. Sometimes 'value' is what we put on it, not what someone else will pay for it.

I understand your conundrum! I love staying Club/concierge level at any hotel. But...I think in this case I'd stay at AoA. Your kids will love it and you won't have the concern over construction noise. Plus think how much fun you can have with the money you'll be saving!

Enjoy!

Yup, still torn! I've made my husband a hotel snob, so he'd rather stay at WL. My Dad is all for saving the money since we will only be there such a short time, so he's all for AOA. Ahhhh Your advice is much appreciated! Anyone else that has stayed at both/either hotels have any insight?

We stayed at pop century for 2 nights in November post cruise after mostly staying deluxe at WDW. If I were only staying at the resort I would go deluxe- I don't have experience w/ club level. The value resort was MUCH less comfortable- the beds, the size, the food everything felt 1/2 as nice like the price suggests. 600$ is different to different people so only you can say if it's "worth it"

If you're worried about construction at the pool and noise I might switch to another deluxe resort- the pool at the Polynesian was fun when by daughter was 4. The Alice in Wonderland splash area at GF is also really cool and there is a lot of cool stuff to do in 2 days at the resort.

Also, we did the princess suites at PORS w/ DD 5 and 3 and they loved not just the room but how "fancy" all of the areas around seemed to them- the gardens with fountains and twinkle lights, carriage rides- and you can take a boat to Disney Springs to shop/eat which is really convenient.
