what would you do?? ADR's

HI all..my hubby and I are going to Maui next saturday..our return day is the 90 day reservation window for our January trip to disney..( we will be in the air during this time). We will be landing at 1130am EST.

Would you just wait til then to book all of our dining reservations or should I ask another family member to call for us when the reservation line opens?? Just curious about what you would do.

If there is no free dining for the week you are going I would wait until I landed and do my ADRs then. I have not heard of any free dining promos for January and I hope they do not have any because will be going the second week in January.

We were on a Baltic Cruise when our 90 day time came up for our December trip. I asked my DSis to do the booking and she did!

Now, I must confess that this past Sunday I realized my ADR's didn't give us an evening/night in the Magic Kingdom that didn't have a MVMCP. I was not happy with the MVMCP experience last year, and decided not to spend money on one this year (we have APs), especially when the time we are going is in the non-discounted time. So, on Sunday, I changed the ADR's. Just about all of them...the Fantasmic package I didn't touch, it's the only night Fantasmic will be showing.

Considering how few times Disney is showing Fantasmic, if you want that package, I would ask someone to make at least that ADR. Otherwise, I would wait until I land.

I was worried about having someone else call..because what if something is not available for our time...then they have to make a decision of changing times.

We are not going to do a fantasmic package..we do plan to see it though. I just don't like eating dinner at 4pm...also I am not thrilled with the choices for the package. I really dislike Hollywood and Vine, Mama Melrose is ok and Brown derby is 2 credits on dining plan.

Unless you are booking the Cinderella castle meal or one of the other very popular character meals, you should be fine waiting until you are home, and then you can make decisions if your exact time isn't available.

We were on a cruise just 10 days ago facing a similar issue. Because our travel time was during "free dining" period and I knew the ADR's would be a pain, I battled the SLOW connection on the cruise ship's internet, set my alarm for 3:00am ship time and did it myself. I did have a back up plan for a girlfriend at home to wake up and do them an hour later if I texted her saying I needed her help (Just in case the connection speed was to slow)... but thankfully I didnt need to wake her.

Ends up that when we got home 5 days later we added some ressies and didnt have a problem, so it may have been ok after all!

I agree with PP, if you are not travelling during free dining time, dont sweat it!

I agree, you should be fine waiting until you land. On the other hand, if it is not too much trouble to ask someone to call for you, I might do that & then make changes if needed, after you talk to them. I have one DSis I could ask to do this for me & I would do it for her. We are Disney freaks & understand how ADRs work. If the time asked for isn't available, see what time is available that is close to it. Some CMs are great about saying "6:00 PM is not available but 6:30 PM is." If you have another person call for you, give them a window of what would be ok, like 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM, or between 2 restaurants. Good luck! Have a great time in Maui & Disney!
