What will the weather be like in April

We came from UK to California this year in August and had a wonderful time. The children loved body boarding at Santa Monica in particular.
If we came back at Easter (April) what would the weather be like?
Could we swim comfortably in the sea? I only go in the sea if it is REALLY hot.
Is it better for touring the parks at this time of year?
We are also thinking about visiting Scottsdale at the same time. What would the weather be like here?
Would appreciate some views.

April is the end of our "rainy season," however, our weather here in Southern California changes so much. You might have cool weather, rainy weather, or we could be going through a Santa Ana condition that would drive the temperature up.

The Pacific Ocean is pretty cold (in my opinion) during that time of year, even on the hottest days. However, I've been there, and others have gone in to play in the water, so it's all perspective.
