What will Christmas look like for you this year?

Going to WDW for Christmas. Dec 24-30. This is to replace the May trip that I lost. I went in Oct and felt quite safe. I understand that the number of people allowed in the park has gone up, but I think I can avoid the crowds. I don't need to do all the rides if the lines are too long. I will just enjoy the decorations, the food booths, the cavalcades and just being there.

I said to my husband the other day, if we could actually go, which we can't, I would have LOVED to go to Disney this year for Christmas, even if we just stayed at the resort and never stepped foot in the parks!

We normally go to my sister's for dinner, and my parents join as well. But this year it will just be kiddo and me. We will probably facetime with my parents at some point. I am going to Metro one more time to get the last few items (including my son's favourite sausages for breakfast) and hopefully we won't have to go anywhere until the New Year after that. I am an introvert, so other than missing my parents and wishing kiddo could go play with friends, I'm ok. My son misses his friends and being able to play a lot. I know he will miss being able to see family on Christmas but hopefully we'll be able to get together soon.

Living in anticipation of an extended lockdown as of Monday. Not sure if my region will be included. So, I plan to stay put for Christmas and NYE. No visiting, no hosting. I have ordered a complete Christmas dinner and NYE dinner and will live off the leftovers in the meantime. Have arranged for delivery of other necessities to get over the holiday. Going to see if I can find “Arsenic and Old Lace” somewhere for Christmas viewing.

Where do you live?

To be honest, Christmas day itself won't look any different. It's always just myself, DH and our two DD's. My parents have passed away and we have no contact with my inlaws. It's other days around the 25th that look different for us. Can't have my SIL and her family over as we are not allowed anyone in our house who is not in our immediate household. Can't go to our friends for NYE (we hang with the same family each NYE and just alternate houses). Can't go out to dinner with my 3 best girlfriends. I mean, technically we can as restaurants in BC are open for indoor dining, but really you are *not* supposed to mix with other friends/family even in a restaurant. Even several outdoor Christmas activities have been cancelled here. :headache: We have tickets to a drive thru event on Boxing Day and on the 27th we are doing the Cap suspension bridge starting at 4pm (they have something called canyon lights that starts at 6pm but has been 'officially' cancelled but they still turn the lights on during the day so we got tickets later in the afternoon as it's dark by 4:30).

So Rudolph is heading out tomorrow morning (I will be wearing my Ugly Christmas Sweater and Reindeer ears).

1st drop off of package 1 to be made for 2 sweet kids (my teaching partner's children).packaged Nov 30.
Their mom was recently DX with Rheumatoid Arthritis and their youngest just DX with Juvenile Diabetes.
They need a little Magic in their lives right now.

2nd drop off of package 2 is to Burlington. A Christmas family gift for my oldest brother. (Christmas day is also his Birthday so I have an extra gift in the package for him. (Packaged Nov 30)

3rd drop off is in Meadowvale , a family package for my sister's. (Packaged Nov 30).

4th stop will be to refill at Starbucks (Reindeers need food you see).

5th stop will be to drop all my oldest sons Christmas gifts and stocking.
(All packed Dec 15th).

My youngest son & his wife have already picked up their Santa stash and dropped off their gifts to socially distance
for a few days.

Dec 24th we will all gather on Zoom with our own fav drinks and food to chat and reminisce of Christmas past.
(Asian Party Pack is on my list).

Christmas morning will be just my middle son and I. We will open our stockings and gifts ,,heat up the oven and bake our favorite Christmas casserole. Crack a couple mini ice wines and add it to the orange juice.
We will be having fresh fruit salad and cinnamon buns,,, with just the two of us we should have enough left overs for a week or more.

I am truly going to miss everyone coming over , but at least when I clean before the big day my after clean up will be minimal this year.
More time to Chill & Relax this year.
Merry Christmas everyone
Hoping for a Great New Year!
Hugs

Our Christmas will be very quiet, Maybe just some calls to family, some facetiming with family and lots of eating. In anticipation of the great lockdown I'm off to buy all the toilet paper I can find tomorrow lol. Actually we built a supply of non perishables months ago and we have been doing good rotating and restocking it that now we just need to repack the freezer. We might just spend Christmas playing a few rounds of Uno or skip bo and then I'm back to work.

We still don‘t know. The plans were Christmas eve with my inlaws. They have a huge garage. There were to be three tables set up out there with each family sitting at their own table, masks on , no food..10 of us total. Gathering outside with the propane heaters was the backup plan if we moved restriction levels.

Then for Christmas Day it was to be my parents house, outdoors. They already set up the fire pits and worked it all out. Much of my family are health care professionals so all rules were to be followed there too. Strictly an outdoor visit for a few afternoon hours.

But a big wet blanket was dropped on everything when we saw the article speculating we‘re going into lockdown Christmas Eve.

So it could be that we do drive by visits and stand on the lawn just to see our parents faces and wish them Merry Christmas . If that’s the case it will be my husband and son and I and lots of Zoom calls to open presents with loved ones. I can deal with anything we have to do, I just want to know so I can take time to wrap my head around it.

We started Christmas yesterday. Had my oldest daughter and the grand babies come over for a short time to exchange gifts. Not going to any in laws on my wife's side due to the at risk people in their households. We will go to my brothers house Christmas eve to leave gifts for the kids but going early before his oldest and his wife's family show up. And while I didn't wear a mask when my daughter came over, I will when I go to his house. I don't have a good feeling as it is about going and honestly on the fence about cancelling. I may do a drive by gift throwing lol

Christmas is looking similar to most years. My mother lives by herself so she is allowed to come over to our house which she always does. We are going to video call with my father and sister in law in Toronto so we can open gifts together. The biggest change is the my friends next door usually join us for Christmas dinner but they can’t this year because of our restrictions. We may be able to sit out in our shared backyard and have a drink between Christmas and New Years as long as we stay far apart.

Eastern Ontario. Ford is scheduled to make an announcement tomorrow. CBC says they have seen the info., and there will be a 28 day lockdown south of Sudbury. We’ll see what we get soon.
Yeah, 28 day lockdown in Southern Ontario. I wonder what that means for the universities? Those kids staying in res are supposed to go back for Jan 4. We've paid for a whole semester+meal plan, but will, I guess, be missing a month of that.

Anyway, spending tomorrow and Tuesday finalizing any shopping, along with all of Peel that pops into Halton (which isn't on lockdown until Thurs). Wed, I'll be paying the $3.00 and getting a pick up order from the grocery store before Xmas. No way I'm walking in there just before Xmas. And then a quiet Xmas day with a prime rib roast for the 4 of us.

My sister and mom will each be alone out west, as we can't visit and they can't visit each other. My dad is still in the hospital with a broken bone in his back. And my in-laws are on lockdown in their seniors' care residence. So it will be a lonely one for all of us.

I've thought about doing a Zoom meeting over dinner, but I know my mom will probably just have a sandwich or a tv dinner, so that might be more sad than just making an Xmas phone call.

We usually go to dinner at my SIL’s on Christmas Eve and also on Christmas Day as she has the big table. We all bring a dish or two. Boxing Day, we host a brunch.

This year will be much different. My three kids are all grown but the middle one is living with us right now as he got a job transfer and has yet to find a house. In our city, in BC, houses are selling in just a day or two. So, it will just be the three of us. We had hoped to visit my DD and Hubby and their two kids who live 30 mins away. Everyone has been quarantining for 14 days before hand for this but now, we are limited to only our own household. I must admit, I was quite sad a couple of days ago and had a bit of a meltdown (alone, of course). We will still drive up to their house, drop off their presents and some baking at the door and if it’s nice out, have a short visit outside. If it’s not nice, we will press our noses against their windows and just wave. 👋

Have a very Merry Christmas everyone and stay safe. Christmas 2021 will be better!

Grabbed an Asian Party Pack yesterday.. lol my 6 year old has been obsessed with a chocolate Yule log but all MMs sold out here so while I was in line at metro I ordered two small ones from a local bakery ( one as a gift for the family I work for as she and I had been talking about them too , and they are so hard to buy for, last year got stuff at rexall for STB lol)
I think the mood in the house just went down, with the news of today’s announcement . DD14 was in tears when I picked her up at high school because she didn’t know when she’s be back or see anyone. So no school no soccer training for awhile. I feel bad because I’m that mom being strict when not a lot of her friends parents are ..
This Christmas will be tough.

Garage parties followed by outside firepit parties. Honestly I would never leave. 15 years till I retire and hopefully live like this every day.
We are well on our way we just bought a house up north. I work there anyway on rotation so it's a project that will end up being a flip in about 5 years. 6 months ago I was still unemployed, now I have a good job in my field and just bought a second house. That's my Christmas gift. I only need new socks and videochats with family and my Christmas is complete.

On Christmas Eve, Church with our daughter, son in law and six month old grandson followed by Chinese food for dinner and then watching last years Candlelight Processional with Neil Patrick Harris On YouTube. Christmas morning, my wife and I will watch a previous Disney Christmas Day parade on YouTube and then have a quiet day with my small family
